Να συνεργαζόμαστε δηλαδή με ανθρώπους με τους οποίους μοιραζόμαστε το ίδιο όραμα για μια διαφορετική εκπαίδευση. Που δίνουν σημασία στο \"πώς\" θα μάθει το παιδί τους κι όχι μόνο στο \"τι\". γιατί θα σε εμπιστευτεί για αυτό που πρεσβεύεις κι όχι γιατί είσαι φτηνός ή ακριβός αλλά γιατί η επιλογή του ήταν θέμα κριτικής σκέψης κι όχι απλά τύχης. Γιατί στον δρόμο για την γνώση τα μεγέθη δεν είναι οικονομικά. Σίγουρα η προετοιμασία τέτοιων μαθημάτων που γίνονται στο Κέντρο μας απαιτεί κόπο και χρόνο, αλλά για εμάς η μάθηση είναι εμπειρία, οτιδήποτε άλλο είναι απλά πληροφορία! Multiple ways to teach one structure! Μέσα από διαφορετικές μεθόδους, κατάλληλες για όλους τους μαθησιακούς τύπους κάναμε εξάσκηση το ρήμα have got με την a junior!!! Όταν ξεφεύγεις από τα όρια του βιβλίου, μέσω της βιωματικής μάθησης, γίνεται κατάκτηση η γνώση! Για να ξεκινήσουμε από την ουσία: μαθαίνω τη γλώσσα. Και τη μαθαίνω με όσο πιο φυσικό τρόπο γίνεται. Τη μαθαίνω για να είμαι αυτός που είμαι και στην ξένη γλώσσα. Τη μαθαίνω μέσα από έκθεση σε αυθεντικό υλικό, σε αυθεντικό λόγο. Αν μπορώ, ταξιδεύω. Αν μπορώ, μιλώ με ανθρώπους από όλον τον κόσμο στην ξένη γλώσσα. Αν δεν μπορώ, βλέπω ταινίες, σειρές, ακούω μουσική. Φυσικά, πηγαίνω σε σχολείο ξένων γλωσσών όπου ‘δεν κλίνουμε το ρήμα ‘to be’, αλλά μιλάω, επικοινωνώ, σκέφτομαι, υπάρχω στην ξένη γλώσσα. Δίνω εξετάσεις; Ναι! Αλλά δίνω ΕΠΕΙΔΗ έμαθα τη γλώσσα, όχι ΓΙΑ ΝΑ τη μάθω. Οι εξετάσεις μπορούν να λειτουργήσουν ως κίνητρο, να γίνουν μια ευκαιρία για επανάληψη, για συγκέντρωση, είναι και μια επι- βράβευση. Οι εξετάσεις μπορούν να λειτουργήσουν ως ένας προσωπικός χάρτης της γλωσσικής σου α- νάπτυξης, κι αυτό μπορεί να σου δώσει αίσθηση επιτεύγματος. Τώρα, ποιες εξετάσεις και για ποιο πι- στοποιητικό; Αν ξέρεις τη γλώσσα, προτιμάς αυτές με τη μεγαλύτερη αναγνώριση στην αγορά εργασίας. Και τέλος πάντων, αν ξέρεις τη γλώσσα, δίνεις ανά πάσα στιγμή για την πιστοποίηση που θα σου ζητηθεί για τις σπουδές σου ή για τη δουλειά σου. Αν δεν την ξέρεις, πας για τις πιο εύκολες. Αλλά μην ξεχα- στείς: επειδή πήρες το τάδε πιστοποιητικό, δεν έμαθες απαραίτητα τη γλώσσα. Η αληθινή εξέταση είναι η αληθινή ζωή.

Μετά από 37 χρόνια λειτουργίας έχουμε βάλει νέους στόχους με σκοπό να αλλάξουμε τα δεδομένα στην ξενόγλωσση εκπαίδευση , απευθυνόμενοι στους μαθητές και στις ανάγκες του 21ου αιώνα. Το κοι- νό του Χορτιάτη μας αγκάλιασε αλλά και μαθητές που αψηφούν την απόσταση και έρχονται από Χαρι- λάου,Πανόραμα ,Πυλαία , Ρετζίκι μεγαλώσαμε, ανανεωθήκαμε, εξελιχτήκαμε και είμαστε έτοιμοι για μία ακόμη υπέροχη σχολική χρονιά! Με διδακτική εμπειρία 37 ετών, ανώτατες σπουδές σε Ελλάδα και εξωτερικό και διαρκή επιμόρφωση σε ότι νέο στην ξενόγλωσση εκπαίδευση Με αποκλειστικές συνεργασίες με σχολεία σε Ελλάδα κι εξωτερικό και συναδέλφους που κάνουν τη δια- φορά στον χώρο τους. Με σταθερό προσωπικό καθηγητών που απαρτίζεται από νέους ειδικά καταρτισμένους ανθρώπους με τους οποίους μοιραζόμαστε το ίδιο όραμα για μια διαφορετική εκπαίδευση & προσωπική επιμέλεια κά- θε εκπαιδευτικού προγράμματος αλλά και επιπέδου από την διεύθυνση σπουδών. Σε έναν ανακαινισμένο χώρο που όμως αποπνέει την ζεστασιά του οικείου. ΛΟΥΚΙΔΟΥ—ΜΠΟΥΡΝΤΑ Page 4 Σήµερα, το Κέντρο Ξένης Γλώσσας προσφέρει το ιδανικό περιβάλλον µάθησης για τα παιδιά µέσα από τα τρία βασικά στοιχεία που οδηγούν το παιδί να µαθαίνει αποτελεσµατικά: α) τον ικανό δάσκαλο, β) την ορ- γανωµένη µεθοδολογία και γ) το κοινωνικό περιβάλλον των συµµαθητών που εµπνέει, ενθουσιάζει το παι- δί και διδάσκει αυτοδιαχείριση και κοινωνικές δεξιότητες Αγνή Μαριακάκη, Ψυχολόγος Ερευνήτρια Σήµερα, στην ξένη γλώσσα, τα τρία αυτά βασικά συστατικά θα τα βρει ο γονιός σε ιδανική µορφή στο Κέντρο Ξένων γλωσσών Ο ∆ΑΣΚΑΛΟΣ Ο δάσκαλος είναι το πιο “µαγικό” συστατικό της µάθησης. Ας δούµε, λοιπόν, τα κριτήρια που ορίζουν τον δάσκαλο: • Ειδική κατάρτιση στην διδασκαλία της ξένης γλώσσας Όλοι µπορούµε να είµαστε δάσκαλοι κατά κάποιο τρόπο, σε ένα αντικείµενο που γνωρίζουµε καλά. Αλλά δεν θα είµαστε καλοί δάσκαλοι, αν δεν έχουµε διδαχτεί πώς να το διδάσκουµε, και πώς να µεταδίδουµε σφαιρικά τη γνώση. Καλός δάσκαλος, δεν είναι αυτός που γνωρίζει το αντικείµενο, αλλά αυτός που γνωρίζει εξειδικευµένα πώς να το µεταδίδει και µάλιστα σε παιδιά, όπου η ηλικία παίζει τεράστιο ρόλο στο πώς θέλει την πληροφορία το παιδί, πώς την αφοµοιώνει, πώς την κατανοεί. Συχνά στην ξένη γλώσσα, οι γονείς θεωρούν ότι µια φοιτήτρια, που ξέρει αγγλικά, ή κάποιος γνωστός που έχει Proficiency και ζητά ένα ελάχιστο αντίτιµο για την ώρα του θα κάνει ιδιαίτερα στο παιδί, θα φροντίσει «ατοµικά» το παιδί τους. Στην πραγµατι- κότητα χαντακώνουν το παιδί τους µε έναν ανεπαρκή δάσκαλο, που ξέρει αγγλικά µεν, αλλά δεν ξέρει πώς να βοηθήσειτο παι- δί να τα αγαπήσει και να τα µάθει κατάλληλα, σωστά και αποτελεσµατικά, ώστε να µπορεί να τα χρησιµοποιεί, να τα µιλά και να τα αποδώσει στις εξετάσεις του. • Εξειδικευµένες γνώσεις στο αντικείµενό του ∆εν χρειάζεται να το ξαναπούµε. ∆άσκαλος δεν είναι αυτός που ξέρει το αντικείµενο, αλλά αυτός που έχει διδαχτεί την τέχνη και τη µέθοδο να µεταδίδει τις γνώσεις που έχει. Σπάνια πάµε να µάθουµε οδήγηση µε έναν καλό οδηγό του περιβάλλοντός µας. Κι αυτό γιατί εκνευρίζεται, µαλώνει, χάνει την υποµονή του. Και καταλήγουµε να απευθυνθούµε στον δάσκαλο οδήγησης που ξέρει ακριβώς πώς να διδάξει. Τα παιδιά όµως µας εµπιστεύονται. ∆εν ξέρουν να φέρνουν αντιρρήσεις. Και µάλιστα δεν ξέρουν να φέρουν αντιρρήσεις στον ανειδίκευτο δά- σκαλο, που τα αφήνει χαλαρά, δεν έχει απαιτήσεις και κάνει τη ζωή τους εύκολη. Και οι γονείς είναι ευχαριστηµένοι ενώ θα έπρεπε να είναι έντονα προβληµατισµένοι. • ∆ιαρκής ενηµέρωση και µετεκπαίδευση Ένα οργανωµένο Κέντρο Ξένων Γλωσσών, επενδύει στην σωστή κατάρτιση αλλά και στην ενηµέρωση των δασκάλων, στην διαρκή ανανέωση των γνώσεων τους, στην παρακολούθηση της τεχνολογίας και των νέων µεθοδολογιών. Ούτε ο δάσκαλος του δηµοσίου, ούτε ο ηµιµαθής και κακοπληρωµένος δάσκαλος των ιδιαίτερων µαθηµάτων θα ασχοληθούν για να προχωρή- σουν τα συστήµατα, τις µεθόδους, τα υλικά τους. Και καταλήγει ένα παιδί στον 21ο αιώνα να διδάσκεται εντελώς στοιχειωδώς και ηµιτελώς την ξένη γλώσσα. • Πρόγραµµα και µαθησιακοί στόχοι Στα ιδιαίτερα, το πρόγραµµα και οι στόχοι καθορίζονται από το βιβλίο που ακολουθεί ο δάσκαλος. Σε ένα οργανωµένο επιστη- µονικά Κέντρο Ξένης Γλώσσας, το πρόγραµµα και οι µαθησιακοί στόχοι καθορίζονται µε βάση ευρύτερα κριτήρια: τα παιδιά, η αλληλεπίδρασή τους, οι ικανότητές τους, τα νέα αναλυτικά προγράµµατα ύλης για την ηλικία τους. • Εξατοµίκευση της διδασκαλίας Ο ικανός δάσκαλος ξένης γλώσσας παρακολουθεί κάθε παιδί στην τάξη ξεχωριστά. Ξέρει την ανάγκη του κάθε παιδιού και µέ- σα στην αγκαλιά της τάξης, φροντίζει το κάθε παιδί να βρίσκει τις λύσεις που χρειάζεται χωρίς να αποµονώνεται και χωρίς να νοιώθει µόνο του. • ∆ιδακτικές ικανότητες Ο ικανός δάσκαλος, ο ενηµερωµένος δάσκαλος, ξέρει πολύ καλά πλέον ότι πρέπει να δουλεύει µε τη µεταδοτικότητά του, µε τη φιλικότητα και την προσέγγιση του παιδιού. Αξιολογεί διαρκώς τον εαυτό του, και κατά πόσο περνάνε αποτελεσµατικά οι γνώ- σεις που διδάσκει στα παιδιά. Αυτή η στάση όµως, είναι χαρακτηριστική στον δάσκαλο που έχει επαγγελµατισµό, που δεν κά- νει, τυχαία, µερικά ιδιαίτερα για να συµπληρώσει το εισόδηµά του, ή «… µέχρι να βρει κάτι καλύτερο».

ΛΟΥΚΙΔΟΥ—ΜΠΟΥΡΝΤΑ Page 5 Η ΜΕΘΟ∆ΟΛΟΓΙΑ Όχι «παπαγαλία» στη διδασκαλία Υπάρχουν άπειροι δάσκαλοι που διδάσκουν «παπαγαλία»… δηλαδή παίρνουν ένα βιβλίο και το ακολουθούν λέξη-λέξη και άσκηση προς άσκηση. Αλλά αυτό δεν είναι µάθηµα ξένης γλώσσας. Ναι, βέβαια, το µάθηµα της ξένης γλώσσας έχει πάντα ένα βιβλίο. Αλλά στην τάξη µέσα, ο εξειδικευµένος δάσκαλος κάνει πολλά περισσότερα: συζητά, κάνει ερωτήσεις, φέρνει επιπλέον ύλη (εικόνες, ιστορίες, τραγούδια, διαδικτυακό υλικό), που ανοίγει τους ορίζοντες των παιδιών και επεκτείνει τις ικανότητές τους στην ξένη γλώσσα. ∆εν µπορεί το παιδί µας να διδάσκεται ίδια κι απαράλλαχτα µε τον τρόπο που διδαχτήκαµε και εµείς την ξένη γλώσσα… τότε που δεν υπήρχε ακόµα τεχνολογία, ίντερνετ και περισσότερα πορίσµατα ερευνών – µελετών πάνω στη διδασκαλία της ξένης γλώσσας. ∆εν µπορεί το µόνο που αλλάζει στη διδασκαλία της ξένης γλώσσας από τη δική µας εποχή, των γονιών, να είναι µόνο τα βι- βλία, που σήµερα έχουν ωραιότερες και πιο σύγχρονες φωτογραφίες. Η τωρινή εποχή απαιτεί κάτι άλλο. Μια πιο σύγχρονη µεθοδολογία, νέες προσεγγίσεις, πιο σύγχρονες µεθοδολογίες. Το οργανωµένο Κέντρο Ξένων Γλωσσών σήµερα διαθέτει αυτή την ανανεωµένη µεθοδολογία εκµάθησης, και την υποστηρίζει µε τεχνολογία, µε υπολογιστές, συχνά και µε διαδραστικούς πίνακες. Τόσο µάλιστα, ώστε καταλήγει το ιδιαίτερο µάθηµα να είναι φτωχό για το παιδί, τόσο σε µέθοδο, τρόπους εκµάθησης, όσο και σε ερεθίσµατα. Και θα σχολίαζε κάποιος γονιός: «ναι, δεν πειράζει, φτάνει το παιδί µου να µαθαίνει» Όχι, αγαπητοί γονείς, δεν αρκεί να µαθαίνει το παιδί, πρέ- πει να µαθαίνει ανάλογα µε την εποχή του. Πρέπει να µαθαίνει και ταυτόχρονα να «ξυπνά» στις απαιτήσεις τις εποχής, που περιλαµβάνουν τεχνολογία, ίντερνετ, νέες µεθόδους. Αλλιώς, ναι, ίσως και να µαθαίνει, αλλά βαριέται, αξιοποιεί ελάχιστες από τις δυνατότητες του, και προχωρά πολύ αργά ή και καθόλου στην εποχή του, στην εποχή στην οποία πρέπει να επιβιώσει και να διαπρέψει. Η ΚΟΙΝΩΝΙΚΗ ΜΑΘΗΣΗ Οι συµµαθητές είναι οι υπόλοιποι δάσκαλοι του παιδιού! Είναι ανεκτίµητης αξίας η µάθηση που παίρνει το παιδί από τους συµµαθητές του, µαζί µε τους συµµαθητές του. Όταν τα παιδιά µας µεγαλώνουν µόνα τους, σε κουτιά, χωρίς αυλές, χωρίς κήπους, πόσο σηµαντικό είναι εµείς οι γονείς να δηµιουργούµε κοινωνικά περιβάλλοντα γι αυτά; Υπάρχει περίπτωση να βαρεθεί ένα παιδί σε ένα πάρτυ µε τους φίλους του; Υπάρχει περίπτωση να µη θέλει να συµµετέχει σε µια εκδροµή µε την παρέα; Υπάρχει περίπτωση στο τέλος του καλοκαιριού να µη λαχταρά να βρεθεί µε τους συµµαθητές του στο σχολείο; Υπάρχει περίπτωση να µην πηδήξει από χαρά αν του πείτε ότι θα έρθουν φίλοι του στο σπίτι; Η παρέα δεν είναι το µαγικό συστατικό που ενθουσιάζει τα παιδιά µόνο στο παιχνίδι και στη διασκέδαση. Η παρέα είναι ένα από τα πιο µαγικά συστατικά που προάγουν και τη µάθηση. Μερικές φορές απορώ που δεν είναι αυτονόητο αυτό! Γιατί όµως είναι τόσο σηµαντική η οµάδα, η παρέα, στην τάξη; Όχι µόνο γιατί το κοινωνικό περιβάλλον, δηλαδή τα άλλα παιδιά ευχαριστούν και ενθουσιάζουν το παιδί, αλλά και επειδή στο κοινωνικό περιβάλλον θα µάθει στο παιδί τις ουσιαστικές δεξιότητες για τη ζωή, τις κοινωνικές δεξιότητες δηλαδή και µάλιστα κάτω από την άγρυπνη επίβλεψη και καθοδήγηση ενός καλού δασκάλου. Πού; Στο Κέντρο Ξένης Γλώσσας, µια που στο δηµό- σιο σχολείο οι δάσκαλοι, όντας υπερφορτωµένοι δεν ξοδεύουν χρόνο για να ασχοληθούν µε την ψυχή των παιδιών.

ΛΟΥΚΙΔΟΥ—ΜΠΟΥΡΝΤΑ Page 6 Μέσα στην αγκαλιά της οµάδας και µε την επίβλεψη του δασκάλου, το παιδί µαθαίνει: • Τη συνεργασία: το παιδί µαθαίνει να δουλεύει στην οµάδα, να συνεισφέρει, να ακούει τους συµµαθητές του. Θα χρειαστεί να δουλέψει οµαδικά και να συνεισφέρει και θα µάθει να το κάνει αυτό σωστά, έτσι όπως άλλωστε αργότερα θα απαιτηθεί στον επαγγελµατικό χώρο και γενικά, σε κάθε έκφανση της ζωής του. • Τη συµµετοχή: το παιδί θα µάθει να σηκώνει το χέρι του, να µιλά µπροστά στους συµµαθητές, να µην ντρέπεται, να διεκ- δικεί. Θα απολαύσει τη χαρά να το ακούν οι φίλοι του, να ακούει το µπράβο και από τη δασκάλα και από αυτούς. • Την αυτοδιαχείριση: µέσα στην οµάδα το παιδί µαθαίνει να δίνει χώρο στους άλλους, να κάνει υποµονή, να συµπορεύε- ται µε διαφορετικούς χαρακτήρες, να αντιµετωπίζει και τις δυσκολίες των σχέσεων και τις προκλήσεις και τις συγκρούσεις, πά- ντα µε την επίβλεψη των ενηλίκων. Είναι πολύ σηµαντικό, να µάθει να διαχειρίζεται την ανυποµονησία, το θυµό, την ένταση. Θα κερδίσει αυτοεκτίµηση, σιγουριά και αυτοπεποίθηση στην οµάδα. • Την αυτοπαρακίνηση: ας µην ξεχνάµε, ότι οι συµµαθητές αποτελούν µια πηγή παρακίνησης για το παιδί. Η οµάδα εµπνέει το παιδί, πώς και πότε χρειάζεται να προσπαθήσει περισσότερο, πώς και πότε πρέπει να βάλει τα δυνατά του. Η µαθητική παρέα δεν αφήνει το παιδί να εφησυχάσει, αντίθετα το υποχρεώνει να εντατικοποιήσει το ρυθµό µάθησης, µέσα στα πλαίσια που µπορεί και τα καταφέρνει. Σε αντίθεση µε τα παραπάνω, το ιδιαίτερο µάθηµα, είναι φτωχό µαθησιακά από κάθε πλευρά. Μερικές φορές γονείς µου εξο- µολογούνται: “έβαλα το παιδί µου σε ιδιαίτερο και βελτιώθηκαν οι επιδόσεις του”. Ναι, βέβαια, φαινοµενικά, και µε τι κόστος για το παιδί; Άραγε αργότερα όταν θα χρειάζεται να κάνει τη δική του προσπάθεια, θα έχει το δάσκαλο πάνω από το κεφάλι του βήµα προς βήµα, σαν δεκανίκι; Το παιδί πρέπει να διδάσκεται στην οµάδα και πρέπει να διδάσκεται από την οµάδα. Την ξένη γλώσσα και όχι µόνο… ∆ιδάσκεται την ίδια τη ζωή κάτω από τις καλύτερες προϋποθέσεις, σε ένα Κέντρο Ξένης Γλώσσας µε δασκάλους που ξέρουν τα παιδιά και ξέρουν καλά τη δουλειά τους!

Flies They are frequently used for experimentation because of their short lifespan, ability to reproduce very quickly and prolifically and due to the fact that simultaneous experimentation on very large numbers is possible. 2. Mice and rats Mice share 99% of human genes, don’t cost very much to breed or to feed and they are reproduced rapidly. Racism is the belief in the superiority of one race over another, which often results in discrimination and prejudice towards people based on their race or ethnicity. The use of the term ‘’ racism’’ does not easily fall under a single definition. Why are people racist ? ♦ We take on the views of people around us: A lot of our attitudes are shaped when we’re young. When our family members or friends express racist opinions, it’s common that we will take on those views ourselves. The problem is that, unless we do something about it, they can stay with us for a lifetime. ♦ We hang around With people “like us”: It’s normal to want to spend time with people that have the same interests, background, culture and language. It creates a sense of belonging that is really important. The downside is that it can also set up differences between other groups and, over time, this might lead to us to thinking that our group is better than others ♦ We’re quick to judge: We often put labels on people. He dresses like this so he must be into this music. „She goes to that school so she must be rich.” We can also stereotype people from different racial backgrounds as “lazy”, “brainy”... Obviously, deeply ingrained racial inequality has a wide range of consequences here in the United States. Some of them, like issues of criminal justice and voting rights, are perhaps more starkly evident than others. But racial divides also impact other areas that haven’t traditionally been associated with civil rights. Structures of racism and privilege continue to put a serious toll on the African American community’s health — and contribute to the fact that black Americans are still dying younger than white Americans. Here’s why racism is a serious public health issue: ♦ Racial discrimination puts black Americans at risk for long-term health problems According to a new study, black teens who experience racial discrimination in adolescence are more likely to de- velop stress-related health issues that could put them at risk for chronic diseases later in life. Specifically, re- searchers found that they were more likely to have higher levels of blood pressure, a higher body mass index, and higher levels of stress-related hormones once they turned 20. The psychological toll that racism takes on adults has also been well-documented, and racial discrimination has been repeatedly linked to high blood pressure. Just the fear of racial discrimination can trigger stress-related responses, which means that many people of color who live within a society defined by racism are constantly under increased biological stressors ♦ The majority of doctors harbor ’’unconscious racial biases’’ towards their black patients A 2012 study found that about two-thirds of primary care doctors harbor biases toward their African-American patients, leading those doctors to spend less time with their black patients and involve them less in medical deci- sions. Although doctors typically aren’t aware that they’re treating African-American patients any differently, this ultimately creates an environment in which black people often don’t feel welcome in the medical system — and may start avoiding it. On top of that, black Americans are more likely to lack access to health insurance and less likely to have a regular doctor. This creates a situation in which African-Americans are dying from diseases at higher rates than other racial groups because they don’t get treatment in time. ♦ Black scientists are systematically underfunded. According to a recent analysis of grant data from the National Institute of Health (NIH), black scientists — and not other types of minorities — are less likely to receive government funding for a research project, even when they have the same credentials as their white peers. In fact, a black researcher’s chances of winning an NIH grant is 10 percentage points lower than a white researcher’s chances. Aside from the obvious issues with discriminating against qualified scientists, there’s some evidence this could be having a lasting impact on the types of research that’s conducted in this country. Research into diseases that disproportionately affect black people is under- funded, too — and people of color are underrepresented in clinical trials. ♦ Disparities in the health care sector continue to hit the African-American community the hardest Thanks to structures of racism and poverty that stretch back for generations, black Americans are still more likely to lack access to surgical and emergency medical care, more likely to patronize hospitals that employ less- experienced staff, and much less likely to receive high-quality primary care. That puts this community in a posi- tion to significantly benefit from some of the reforms included in the Affordable Care Act. But it also means that black Americans are hit the hardest by the political resistance to implementing health reform. When you win a game, you feel proud of your success and more confident . Art is an amazing way to get students excited in a variety of lessons to reinforce different vocabulary. Active games!!! Their awesome power of kinesthetic learning in the classroom is a great way to get kids up and moving. Singing songs for new vocabulary! It is a way to get kids participating- make up hand gestures, or a dance to go along with the song. Crafts! Children learn best when they use all their senses and crafting is one teaching tool that allow children a wide variety of experiences, helping them to form a positive association with the English language. Τα παιδιά μαθαίνουν καλύτερα όταν χρησιμοποιούν όλες τους τις αισθήσεις και οι κατασκευές είναι ένα από τα διδακτικά εργαλεία που επιτρέπουν στους μαθητές μας μία ευρύτατη βιωματική γκάμα, όπου τους βοηθά να σχη- ματίσουν μια θετική σχέση με την αγγλική γλώσσα. Είναι ένα παλιό έθιµο που αναβίωσε στα σχολεία στις Ηνωµένες Πολιτείες στα τέλη του 19ου αιώνα και απολάµβανε µεγάλη µόδα εκεί και στη Μεγάλη Βρετανία. Στις Ηνωµένες Πολιτείες, οι το- πικοί περιφερειακοί και εθνικοί διαγωνισµοί συνεχίζουν να διε- ξάγονται ετησίως. Οι µαθητές της Αj εξετάστηκαν προφορικά στην ορθογραφία µέσα από ειδικές καρτέλες µε διαφορετικό βαθµό δυσκολίας. Μέσα σε ένα κλίµα ενθουσιασµού και ευφορίας διεξήχθη επιτυχώς ο διαγωνισµός. When I shared my idea with them, they were really enthusiastic about it! After discussing several such issues, we decided to write about discrimination against people with disabilities. Sophie, who is our book’s main character, describes her life before and after the accident that caused her disability and left her in a wheelchair. She tries to get used to her new life, follow her dreams and at the same time gain respect. Our book’s main purpose is to sensitize people and help reduce this phenomenon. I am deeply proud of my students and we hope that you like this book as much as we do. Όταν πρότεινα στα παιδιά της φετινής D senior 1 να γράψουν ένα µικρό βιβλίο στα Αγγλικά µέσα από το οποίο να περνούν το δικό τους µήνυµα σχετικά µε ένα κοινωνικό φαινόµενο που τους απασχολεί και θα ήθελαν να εξαλειφθεί, δεν περίµενα να αγκαλιάσουν αυτή την ιδέα τόσο πρόθυµα. Μετά από συζήτηση που είχαµε εντός της τάξης καταλήξαµε να ασχοληθούµε µε την κοι- νωνική διάκριση που γίνεται στα άτοµα µε κάποιου είδους αναπηρία. Επινοήθηκε η Sophie η οποία µετά από ατύχηµα καθηλώθηκε σε αναπηρικό καροτσάκι και είχε εκτός του να ξα- ναβρεί τις ισορροπίες στην καθηµερινότητά της για να πραγµατοποιήσει τα όνειρά της, να παλέψει για την ισότη- τά της απέναντι στους άλλους. Tο βιβλίο µας δεν έχει στόχο να στεναχωρήσει αλλά να ευαισθητοποιήσει και ευχόµαστε µέσω αυτού να βάλου- µε το λιθαράκι µας στη µείωση του φαινοµένου. Είµαι πολύ χαρούµενη και περήφανη για όλα τα παιδιά που έγιναν για λίγο µικροί συγγραφείς για δύο λόγους. Πρώτον, για την ευαίσθητη ψυχή τους και τις απόψεις τους σε αυτή τη µικρή ηλικία. Οι ιδέες τους ήταν η απόδει- ξη ότι µπορούµε να ελπίζουµε σε ένα καλύτερο µέλλον. Κατά δεύτερον, δεν υπάρχει µεγαλύτερη ικανοποίηση για έναν εκπαιδευτικό να βλέπει τους µαθητές του να εφαρµόζουν όλα αυτά που έχουν διδαχθεί µέσα στη χρο- νιά. Το να γράψουν βιβλίο στα Αγγλικά σίγουρα δεν ήταν εύκολο αλλά οµολογώ πως το επίπεδό τους µε εξέ- πληξε ευχάριστα. Κλείνοντας, ευχόµαστε η ιστορία της Sophie να σας αγγίξει όπως εµάς. ΛΟΥΚΙΔΟΥ—ΜΠΟΥΡΝΤΑ Page 37 The New Success English School, actively supporting the opportunity to apply innovations and creative learning in the teaching process, fulfilled for the fourth year in a row a Skype online meeting with the cooperative school of Moscow, Russia (10th and 12th December 2018) and the second meeting on 21st and 23rd May 2019. In this collaborative environ- ment formed by the participating students (B Senior, C senior), students benefit from their cooperation with the Russian school as they come out of the narrow limits of the class and realize that the teaching course acquires a European dimen- sion. The New Success English School fulfilled for the first year a Skype online meeting with the cooperative school of Fe- licity Palmieri, Italy on 13rd and 14th May. This collaborative environment was formed by the participating students (A & B Junior). At the same time, the exchange of ideas, views and the general interaction of the students leads to the devel- opment of a team spirit and, simultaneously, to the preservation of enthusiasm and energy. Furthermore, it inspires stu- dents to fully engage with lessons through joint learning activities focusing on global themes. For our part, this offers the chance to share experiences and learn new practices from colleagues in other countries. The students also gained new language pen pals from the card exchange with BusyBee School in Novi Sad, Serbia and Pur- isima Concepcion School in Madrid, Spain. It is an opportunity for your students learning English, to share cards and let- ters with other schools around the world. The procedure develops pen pal relationships with connected schools easily and safely leading to more letter exchanges, arranging a video conference or even a school exchange. Το φροντιστήριο New Success υποστηρίζοντας έμπρακτα την εκάστοτε ευκαιρία για εφαρμογή καινοτομιών και δημιουργι- κή μάθηση στην διδακτική πράξη, πραγματοποίησε, για τέταρτη συνεχόμενη χρονιά, διαδικτυακή σύνδεση μέσω Skype με το συνεργαζόμενο σχολείο της Ρωσίας. Η πρώτη συνάντηση πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 10 και 12 Δεκεμβρίου 2018 και η δεύ- τερη στις 21 και 23 Μαίου 2019. Στο εν λόγω συνεργατικό περιβάλλον που διαμορφώνεται οι μαθητές που συμμετέχουν ( C Senior, B Senior) επωφελούνται από τη συνεργασία που έχουν με το σχολείο της Ρωσίας, καθώς βγαίνουν από τα στενά όρια της τάξης και αντιλαμβάνονται ότι το φροντιστηριακό μάθημα αποκτά ευρωπαϊκή διάσταση. Διασφαλίζοντας την υ- ψηλότερη ποιότητα διδασκαλίας και ακολουθώντας τις πιο σύγχρονες μεθόδους όσον αφορά τη γλωσσική εκμάθηση, το φροντιστήριο New Success για πρώτη φορά πραγματοποίησε τη διαδικτυακή σύνδεση μέσω Skype με το συνεργαζόμενο σχολείο της Ιταλίας Felicity Palmieri στις 13 και 14 Μαίου. Στο εν λόγω συνεργατικό περιβάλλον που διαμορφώνεται οι μα- θητές που συμμετέχουν τα τμήματα της A και B Junior. Στη συγκεκριμένη σύνδεση περιγράψαμε τον εαυτό μας και συστη- θήκαμε στους μαθητές του αντίστοιχου σχολείου. Οι ίδιοι μαθητές επωφελούνται από τη συνεργασία που έχουν με το σχο- λείο της Ιταλίας, καθώς βγαίνουν από τα στενά όρια της τάξης και αντιλαμβάνονται ότι το φροντιστηριακό μάθημα αποκτά ευρωπαϊκή διάσταση. Παράλληλα, η ανταλλαγή ιδεών, απόψεων καθώς και η γενικότερη αλληλεπίδραση των μαθητών οδηγεί στην ανάπτυξη πνεύµατος συλλογικότητας και, συνάμα, στη διατήρηση ενθουσιασμού και ενεργητικότητας. Από την πλευρά μας, οι εκπαιδευτικοί, αναδιαμορφώνουμε τον τρόπο διδασκαλίας μας, ενώ, συγχρόνως, τίθενται νέες βάσεις όσον αφορά τη σχέση μας με τους μαθητές. Γινόμαστε, εν τέλει, περισσότερο μέντορες και συντονιστές παρά αναμεταδό- τες της γνώσης, ένας ρόλος, άλλωστε, που στις μέρες μας θεωρείται παρωχημένος στον τομέα της παιδαγωγικής. Tο φροντιστήριο New Success έδωσε την ευκαιρία στους μαθητές να αποκτήσουν νέους φίλους της γλώσσας από την κάρ- τα ανταλλαγής με το σχολείο BusyBee της Σερβίας και Purisima Concepcion School της Μαδρίτης στην Ισπανία. Είναι μια ευκαιρία για τους μαθητές να μάθουν αγγλικά, να μοιράζονται κάρτες και επιστολές με άλλα σχολεία σε όλο τον κόσμο. Η διαδικασία αναπτύσσει τις σχέσεις με τα συνδεδεμένα σχολεία εύκολα και με ασφάλεια, οδηγώντας σε περισσότερες α- νταλλαγές επιστολών, οργανώνοντας μια τηλεδιάσκεψη ή ακόμα και μια σχολική ανταλλαγή. Με τα παιδιά κάναμε στο προη- γούμενο μάθημα την κατάλληλη προετοιμασία ώστε να εξοικειωθούν με την αγγλική ονομασία των υλικών αλλά και των οδηγιών που θα δίνονται στα Αγγλικά. Πρώτα απ’ όλα, είναι µια γλώσσα που χαίρεσαι να την ακούς αλλά και να την µιλάς. Οι κανόνες προφοράς είναι λίγοι και απλοί µε αποτέλεσµα να είσαι σε θέση να διαβάζεις και να µιλάς σωστά σχεδόν αµέσως. Θα µπορείς να επικοινωνήσεις στα ιταλικά στα ταξίδια σου, στις σπουδές σου, στην εργασία σου. Θα καταλαβαίνεις και θα απολαµβάνεις την ιτα- λική µουσική, τον ιταλικό κινηµατογράφο και φυσικά την ιταλική κουζίνα! Θα ανακαλύψεις πολλές ιταλι- κές λέξεις που χρησιµοποιούµε καθηµερινά χωρίς να το αντιλαµβανόµαστε: porta, piatto, gatta, cap- pello, frutto, treno είναι µόνο µερικές από αυτές. Αν θελήσεις να πιστοποιήσεις την γνώση των ιταλι- κών, θα έχεις την δυνατότητα να διαλέξεις ανάµεσα σε αρκετά πτυχία αναγνωρισµένα απο το κράτος αλλά και διεθνώς. Μαθαίνω Γερµανικά σηµαίνει αποκτώ δεξιότητες µε τις οποίες µπορώ να βελτιώσω την επαγγελµατική και προσωπική ποιότητα ζωής µου.
