Watchknowlearn Watchknowlearn is an online source that allows you to search for educational video content and allows you to house that content in one location. This is a great site because who has time to go through all the junk on youtube for a video that might be a good fit for your classroom? What makes this site unique is that you can filter your search result so that the videos you find are very specific. You can filter the results by age and subject matter.

Learnzillion Founded by two former teachers in 2011, LearnZillion offers a free Math and English Language resources for grades K-12 that combines short video lessons, assessments, playlists, and progress reports. These videos provide grade-level appropriate, conceptual, visual explanations that can be used by both kids and adults. Each lesson focuses on a specific sub-standard, and can be organized by teachers into custom playlists for students. Teachers use LearnZillion videos and resources for everything from whole class instruction to small group and independent work, as well as for homework assignments and to enable parents to help support student learning at home. Learnzillion How it works:You create a free teacher account and after you sign up for an account, you can browse through the different lessons. You can also download printable resources that go along with the lesson. You can share thevideo lesson on an LCD screen and/or you can also assign the lesson to a class-so students can do it in the computer lab or at home. How do students access the lessons you assign: If you want the students to access the content so they can do it on individual computers, there are two ways that students can access the lesson you have assigned. (With login information or without login information) With login information: When you add students, it will give you an enrollment code. Students click on the student login page, type the enrollment code, and then they will come up with a username and password. After that they have access to any lessons you have assigned. Without login information: If you don’t want your students to have to login in to access the lessons, you can simply provide a url to the lesson. Students/parents will then be able to access the video lesson.

Differentiated Learning

Tween Tribune Tween tribune is a free online resource run by the Smithsonian Institute. It will work on any Internet enabled device including smartphones and tablets. Tween tribune allows teachers to provide leveled articles to their students. The readability levels of all the articles are based on Lexile levels. Using this tool, teachers can assign the same content to students but the content is personalized based on the individual reading levels of the students. Articles range in interest levels, subjects and are also provided in English and Spanish. http://www.tweentribune.com/

There are two ways to use this site. If you have limited access to technology in your classroom, you could find an article by simply typing in some key words in the search box. Once you find an article you like, you can click on the corresponding Lexile level and then print out the article. You could print out the same article on different Lexile levels and distribute it to your students. If you have more access to technology, you could create a free teacher account.• Once you create a teacher account, you can add as many classes as you want as well as add students to each class.• Students are assigned easy to remember usernames and passwords by the site.• Once you have added students to your classes, you can assign any article to a student, and assign the Lexile level to the article.• Students will then log in using their computer generated usernames/passwords.• They will see the articles you assigned and can click on the articles to read them. They can also provide comments on the articles and take pre-made quizzes about the articles.

Flipquiz• Flipquiz is an online review game creation tool. With Flipquiz, teachers can make jeopardy style game boards that are sleek and easy to use.• It is free, will work on Internet enabled device, students do not need a username/password.• To begin using Flipquiz, you must create a free account. After you have created your free account you can start making your game boards.• You can use it as a whole class activity (with an lcd projector), station/center, or as an individual review activity.

How does it work? First, sign up for a free account. Once you make an account, you can make game boards. On your board you are given five categories and five questions per category. Simply click on the boxes and add your content. For both your questions and answers you can add text, hyperlinks and online video files. You don’t have to use all five categories. Only the categories and questions you add show up on the game. Once you make your game, you click on presentation view. This will give you a website address. The web address is the only thing you need to access the game. No login required.

You simply click on the task you want and follow the directions on the screen toinput your content. Once you add content, you can click and drag the items sothey appear in the order you want them to on your worksheet. When your worksheet is completed, you can distribute it to your students. You can distribute it via url, a private pin, or if you have google classroom by classroom. (Note: Private pins and google classroom require students to log in to access the worksheet. Sharing the worksheet by url does not require a login though if you want to record the answers, a login is required.)

Students will then use that pin to access any timelines you have shared with the class. Once students have the pin they can also add comments to any item on your timeline as well as submit their own timelines for grades/projects.

CLASSROOM IMPLICATIONS If you have an lcd projector in your room, you could project timelines you have created to your students. You can also embed your timelines into your class website, wiki, or school Learning Management System. Students can then access your shared timelines and use them to locate information for research or for notetaking for exams. Teachers can also take advantage of the 24 hour accessibility and have students view/review timelines from home. Students can then provide feedback on your timelines as well as create their own timelines for review and/or assessment. This tool is great for project based assessments!

SOME MORE INFO ABOUT STUDENT ACCOUNTS: For younger students, you may want to have them all use the same password for simplicity sake when they make their accounts. For younger students, you may want to create a template timeline, which they can copy into their own accounts. Once a timeline is copied, students can add their own content. When you share a timeline, students can add comments to any object in your timeline (They can’t change items on your timelines.) Older students can collaborate with other students on projects. They can invite people to work on their timelines via e-mail addresses. Anyone invited to collaborate on a timeline can edit and add content to that timeline
