Helping Hearts and Hands Youth Mission Report Dear Moscow UMC- This past week, August 16-21, 2017, two youth from your church, Robin Kellyand Jessica Galey, joined us in Damascus for our annual Helping Hearts and HandsYouth Mission Camp, an opportunity for young people to gather and engage in serviceprojects throughout Damascus Township and the surrounding communities. This year, our team included people from Damascus, New Milford, Clarks Summit, Scranton,Moscow, and even as far away as Hershey, PA – a total of 27 youth and 8 adultchaperones. The focus of the first days was to lend a helping hand to an elderly disabledresident of Damascus Township who was no longer able to care for the exterior of hishome. Tremendous effort was taken over three days to remove the neglect of the pastfive years. We also participated in a project to clean up trash at Skinners Falls, a populartourist area on the Delaware River. Here we learned the importance of being goodstewards of God's creation. We have posted pictures of our time together in a video which highlights our kids'accomplishments and celebrate their willingness to share God's love wherever we arecalled to do so - https://youtu.be/z1Pethipn9Q. Thank you for supporting our young people in this vital ministry!Jeff Warren, PastorDamascus United Methodist ChargeDamascus, PA 18415
Thank You Wednesday Morning Crew! Have you ever wondered how MUMC always looks so clean and landscaped and is so well maintained, day to day, inside and out? Our church trustees have the job of caring for our properties and they do a fantastic job. Their secret advantage is the Wednesday Morning Crew. Every Wednesday, rain or shine, a group of dedicated church members get together for a morning of cleaning, sprucing up, renovating, maintaining and doing what is needed to care for our church’s facilities and grounds. This group of approximately 17 people have skills and talents of every sort and they are always looking for a few more good people to help them out. If you are retired or off from work on Wednesday mornings and have an hour or two to spare from time to time, you’re invited to come to the church fellowship hall any Wednesday at 9 am to get your assignment. After an hour and a half of caring for our church and grounds, the crew breaks for coffee, tea and a delicious dessert – some say it is the best part of Wednesday mornings at MUMC! These photo’s below show our Wednesday morning crew out recently for a “thank you” lunch at Mendocino’s restaurant. We hope you’ll consider joining in with our Wednesday morning crew.

Food 4 Kids Summer Mission Thanks to all our MUMC congregation who brought in food for children for the summer weeks when school breakfasts and lunches are on break. Organized by the North Pocono Food Pantry, bags of nutritious snacks are given to families over the summer weeks. At MUMC, we had a race to see which side of the church would bring in more Food 4 Kids. About mid-summer, the left side of the church was winning, BUT by last Sunday, the closing of this mission, the right side of the church, NOT to be out done, had caught up. The real winners were the children in our community who might otherwise be hungry. Several bins of food were donated – thanks to all who gave!
