Optic nerve hypoplasia (ONH) is an extremely rare congenital abnormality in which the optic discs are abnormally tiny and undeveloped. ONH is non-progressive and has a broad range of severity, from near normal central visual acuity to complete loss of light sensitivity in the worst instances.
