Section 2: Boutique Presentation Display Cases, Counters, Floor Stand / Gondola , Gourmet Wall Niche, Ledges, Niches This section discusses how to display Bateel products and packaging inside the Boutique. It identifies the products carried by Bateel and their appropriate locations. It also provides the user with guidelines to maintain proper presentation in each of these display spaces. Bateel Products & Spaces All Bateel boutiques have six main display spaces, each one highlighting a Bateel product. 1. Display Cases 2. Counters 3. Floor Stand / Gondola 4. Gourmet Wall Units 5. Window Ledges 6. Niches Spaces 1, 2, 3 and 4 are STANDARD SPACES. These display areas showcase products that remain constant throughout the year: food products such as dates, chocolates and other gourmet delicacies. Spaces 5 and 6 are SEASONAL SPACES. These display areas reflect a theme or season. Standard spaces maintain their product displays but are touched up regularly to maintain order and neatness. Seasonal displays are changed to suit upcoming occasions to create new interest for customers. Bateel Merchandising and Design departments provide seasonal display guidelines on a regular basis according to the seasonal calendar. 1. Display Cases Display cases inside Bateel boutiques are intended to showcase Bateel’s wide selection of gourmet food products. The food products that are arranged inside display cases are mainly dates, chocolates, and biscuits. Dates Varieties These products are arranged inside the display case to show customers the wide selection of fresh and filled date varieties offered by Bateel. Customers should be able to see all available varieties. Appearance Fig. 1: glass display showing date varieties. Visual merchandisers and boutique staff should ensure that the dates in this showcase look fresh and appealing. For each variety they should check colour, shape, texture and shine. Presentation Fresh and filled dates are arranged according to variety on plain white trays inside the glass display case. 2. Counter The counter provides a good opportunity to communicate with customers about any information regarding Bateel products, the Bateel brand or on-going promotions. It is also a good location for small items that may inspire last minute, impulsive purchases. The counter, the ledges behind the counter and the area around the cash register may be arranged to showcase: A. Gourmet Wall Unit The gourmet wall unit are a good location for Gourmet items which do not require controlled temperature, i.e.: Bateel’s selection of jams, Fig. 1: gourmet wall unit honeys, nuts, date drinks and similar products. These items should be arranged in a manner that allows customers to appreciate their range and variety as well as the design of their packaging. 282 | merchandising manual

5. Windows Window displays serve two purposes. Fig. 1: window display The first is to catch attention, create interest and draw customers into the boutique. The second is to create an image of the brand that will be remembered by potential customers. A window ledge display is created by putting together 1 to 3 packaging compositions. The number and size of compositions vary depending on the layout of the boutique and the dimensions of its window ledges. Some windows will accomodate only one composition, while some will take a maximum of three compositions. Consider the following: A. Season Fig. 2: arrangement on window ledge Packaging used for window Fig. 3: arrangement on window ledge displays are selected specifically for each season and are approved by Bateel’s Retail Management. The line-up of packaging will usually consist of 2 to 3 families of boxes that suit the season because of their colour or size or design. A few other families are also selected to create contrast or to complement the main packaging. B. Combination Choose colours, sizes and shapes which complement each other. For example, fancy boxes are best appreciated when combined with plainer boxes, darker boxes with lighter boxes. Larger boxes tend to become the main focus of a composition, and are best showcased when accompanied by a number of smaller boxes, which add interest without distracting the viewer. C. Arrangement In creating a composition, remember to showcase open and closed boxes to allow the viewer to see how a box looks when filled with products. Notice that most compositions maintain a triangular shape, the highest point being in the centre. The shape of the composition creates a point of focus and draws the viewer’s eye towards the middle of the arrangement. 283 | merchandising manual
