USTFU-PL-036-21 28 September 2021 PROF. CHERYL R. PERALTA, DrPH Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs University of Santo Tomas Dear Dr. Peralta: Greetings! With the steady increase of faculty members and their family being vaccinated via their local government units, there is now a need to allow faculty members to update their COVID vaccine reservations with the University. On behalf of the members of the UNION, may I request your office to re-open the vaccine reservation portal that faculty member may be able to up-date their vaccine reservations? This will ensure that none of this precious medicine go into wastage. Thank you for your time and I am hoping for your usual consideration. Yours in solidarity, ASST. PROF. EMERITO C. GONZALES President cc. Ms. Sheryl M. Dionisio, MD Director, UST Health Service   

USTFU-PL-037-21 28 September 2021 PROF. CHERYL R. PERALTA, DrPH Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs University of Santo Tomas Dear Prof. Peralta: Greetings! It has come to our attention that there are more and more students who have tested positive for COVID-19 and/or have been ordered for mandatory quarantine due to their direct exposure to a COVID-19 positive individual (usually from their household). These students have requested to be excused from their academic responsibilities as they focus on their healing. Faculty members are of course more than willing to grant a sort of “leave of absence” during their recuperation and quarantine period. This means that when the student comes back, he/she can coordinate with their course facilitators to complete their academic requirements. Because of the completion period, there will be a need to relax the deadlines set for the submission and encoding of grades to avoid recovered student from getting an INC grade. On behalf of the members of the UNION, I am requesting your good office to issue a directive to the different academic units to relax the deadline for the submission and encoding of grades (especially for the intensive courses) in consideration for students who will be affected by their COVID-19 situation and will be needing an extension to submit their academic requirements. I am hoping for your kind consideration. Thank you for your time and I continue to pray for our health and safety. Yours in solidarity, ASST. PROF. EMERITO C. GONZALES President cc. UST Central Student Council   
