MESSAGE FROM DEPUTY COMMISSIONER Greetings to the Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Ichhanath family! Kendrya Vidyalaya No.1( Ichhanath) Surat spreading its wings like branches like an evergreen tree and it is heartening to read all about it in the Annual Magazine “ which is now being published as a E-magazine. Over the years, the institution has provided the students with opportunities to explore and grow, through situations that challenge them to identify their strengths and reinforce them. The words of the greatest scientist Albert Einstein aptly speak of our vision. “I don’t teach my children. I create conditions for them to learn”. This magazine is going to showcase the strength of our Institute. Let this be a forum to exhibit the potential of faculty and students with their literary skills and innovative ideas. I am proud that our teachers have left no stone unturned to ensure that the children do not lose out on quality education even when it has gone online. This condition has only helped the students to think out of the box and be more creative. ENGLISH SECTION
Origin,Use and Development of English English originated in England and is the dominant language of the United States, the United Kingdom,Canada,Australia,Ireland,New Zealand, and various island nations in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. It is also an official language of India, the Philippines,Singapore, and many countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa. English is the first choice of foreign language in most other countries of the world, and it is that status that has given it the position of a global lingua franca. It is estimated that about a third of the world's population, some two billion people, now use English. English belongs to the Indo-European family of languages and is therefore related to most other languages spoken in Europe and Western Asia from Iceland to India. The parent tongue, called Proto-Indo- European, was spoken about 5000 years ago by nomads believed to have roamed the Southeast European Plains. Modern English is analytic, whereas Proto-Indo-European,the ancestral tongue of most of the Modern European languages[example:French,Greek, Russian,German] was synthetic,or inflicted. During the course of thousands of years, English words have been slowly simplified from the inflected variable forms found in Sanskrit,Greek,Latin,Russian and German, towards invariable forms as in Chinese and Vietnamese. ~Vanshi Desai XI-Arts

IS INTERNET GOOD OR BAD It’s now easier than ever to access the internet, whether you are using a computer, phone, or your tablet. There is no doubt that many young people are spending more and more time online, with both negative and positive consequences. One advantage of the internet is that young people can search online to get help for their schoolwork and homework. This often helps teenagers to widen their knowledge and improve their grades, another positive point of view is that the internet helps young people to practice foreign languages if they chat with friends from different countries and it’s also a good way to keep in touch with family and friend around the world. On the other hand, there are also negative aspects somehow, there are a lot of young people became addicted to social media and online gaming. This means that they waste too much of their time playing these games and surfing on social media, and this can have a big negative effect on their schoolwork, the amount of physical activity they get and even their social life, excessive use of the internet can mean that some young people hardly talk with their families at home because they are always ‘online’ on their phone or whatever they are browsing from. To sum this up, spending time on the internet can cause a negative influence on young people, but it also has many benefits and advantages. Personally, I think that the internet is an amazing tool for searching and gaining new information and being updated and the benefits of accessing it definitely outweigh the dangers. However, we should use it carefully.
KALKI THE LAST SAVIOR In Hindu mythology it’s believed that there are four time zones namely – Satyuga, Tretayuga, Dwaparyuga and Kalyuga. The time in which we are living is the Kalyuga. In Kalyuga it’s believed that lord Vishnu will take his tenth and final avatar and free this world from sins and bad deeds. The name of the avatar is “KALKI”. In Hindu mythology it’s believed that KALKI will come riding on a white horse, in his hand a fierce sword. Right now we are living in the GOLDEN AGE of Kalyuga, and when this GOLDEN AGE will end the GHOR KALYUGA will begin .It said that the starting of GHOR KALYUGA will be a long acid rain which will destroy the crops completely and people will become carnivores, it will be a complete disaster There are many rumors that KALKI will be born on Himalayas some state south India , still no one is sure about what, where and how will KALKI born. There is even a festival dedicated to lord KALKI, it’s the KALKI JAYANTI. It’s said that after KALKI kills all the bad people he will restore DHARMA and turn the wheel to SATYUGA. ~Gatik Dayama VI-C

MALARIA Malaria is a disease caused by a parasite. The parasite is spread to humans through the bites of female mosquitoes. People who have malaria usually feel very sick with a high fever and shaking chill. While the disease is uncommon in temperate climates, malaria is still common in tropical and subtropical countries. Usually, people get malaria by being bitten by an infective female Anopheles mosquito. Only Anopheles mosquitoes can transmit malaria and they must have been infected through a previous blood meal taken from an infected person. According to the 2021 World Malaria Report: Nearly half the worlds’ population lives in areas at the risk of malaria transmission in 87 countries and territories. In 2020, Malaria caused an estimated 241 Million clinical episodes and 627000 deaths. An estimated 95% of deaths in 2020 were in the WHO African Region. World Health Organization estimates that India has 15 Million cases of Malaria with 19500-20000 deaths. But, this is just India. One estimate which has been published in a 2002 Nature Article claims that Malaria may have killed 50-60 Billion people throughout history. 25th of April is known as World Malaria Day, the overall purpose of World Malaria Day is to raise awareness of the disease. In Africa, most death cases of malaria has occurred. And Belize is a malaria free country. By Viha Amol Punekar Class VII-C

What should I talk about? About my father, so great and true, Who feeds me every night, no matter what he goes through. He sacrifices his sleep, always there by my side, A soldier of love, with arms open wide. We play together, like children we be, Though he is not kid anymore, it's just him and me. My father, my hero, in his embrace so strong, He cares for my dreams, all day long. He taught me to walk, holding my tiny hand, Guiding each step, helping me understand. Whenever I stumbled, he caught me with care, with hugs and caresses, he showed he's always there. When I'm unwell, he worries so deep, Calling me his princess, a love that's steep. Even when work demands his time away, He thinks of me, more than my mom or anyone may say. Yes, my father is like Mahadev, divine, A little less than God, but forever mine. Through joys and sorrows, he's by my side, A companion, a lifeline, my love and pride. Trupti Padhi Class 4-B
THE EARTH IS A STRANGE STAGE The earth is a strange stage, I wonder when I gaze, In nature’s play, we lie on the same page Showing joy, sorrow, and burning rage. In the moonlight, of a starry night, We dance under the cosmic light, The sun shines on a day bright, The stage has its own spotlight. We all write the script of our own, Luck plays as, ‘Director-unknown’, We all act, until our times are gone, While victors are laughing, the vanquished just moan. Being swallowed up by hedonism, Buried under materialism, We forget we are born to solve a maze. Certainly, from god’s view, “The earth is a strange stage”
