Typography With Jack Owen What Is Typography? Typography is all around us, everyday various typefaces and font families impact our everyday lives whether we realize it or not. For example, typography can be used to convey emotion and awareness, especially in the design industry since type plays a big role in the success of an advertisement, logo, brand, product, etc. In order to help you create your own typeface, I am going to provide you with advice, as well share my own design process to create a final product. Planning For A Project Time management is an important skill to learn in the creative industries, with creatives often juggling multiple projects at once to meet their deadlines. In order to stay on top of your own project and manage your time efficiently, I recommend writing down what you hope to achieve through this project, as well as a plan that highlights key tasks. Setting multiple deadlines throughout the project can help you manage and prioritise work. 1

Planning out the height of ascenders and de- scenders played an important role in keeping everything in proportion. Once I was happy with the initial ideas I had sketched down, I used Adobe Illustrator to refine these ideas. Since Illustrator is a vec- tor-based programme over raster, designing in this way allowed me to create letters that could be scaled to any size, without losing quality.
