Maintenance and Testing With it being well known throughout the UK that fixed wire testing requires to be undertaken on installations and with SPEC Ltd being a fully accredited NICEIC contractor, we take the maintenance and testing of your installation seriously. With current regulations requiring the verification and design of new installations, these regulations would be pointless without the continual inspection and testing of these installations as they age to ensure users against danger and electric shock. Undertaking an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) will locate any faults and potential hazards throughout the installation. All testing and inspection on fixed wire installations undertaken by SPEC Ltd is completed to Full NICEIC test, inspection and certification guidelines and in full compliance to BS7671 2008, Amendment 3:2015 – for new works, EIC (periodic) inspection and minor works. As well as industry standards, electrical contractors are subject to a number of statutory regulations covering health and safety, safe working practices andmanagement of electrical supply and products. In addition to legislation, contractors are also bound by their duties and responsibilities under contract law.Key legal requirements for electrical work are outlined in:• The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 - these regulations have far reaching implications for all employers. They impose a duty of care on employers to manage their electrical systems and products so as not to cause death or injury to others. The regulations cover the design, construction, operation and maintenance of these systems.• The Building Act 1984 & 2000: The Building Regulations - stem from the main Act of Parliament, the Building Act 1984. The Building Regulations exist to promote standards for most aspects of a building's construction, including its structure, fire safety, sound insulation, drainage, ventilation and electrical safety.
