Praying In The Spirit !Eph. 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the 2017Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance andsupplication for all saints; Just the statement of praying in the Spirit brings different thoughts to the body ofChrist. Some see it as spiritual depth and beyond there ability while others see it as fromthe heart and meaningful. While others still see it as other languages and beyond humanability. Hopefully we can bring some understanding in this short discussion that willhelp clarify the thought and not leave any outside of the joy and blessing of prayer inthis area. First allow me the liberty to place a thought about this area in your mind andheart . The simple terminology used here that expresses PRAYER & SPIRIT suggestthat it is more then kneeling and quoting familiar words of religion toward a God thatmay or may not be reachable. Spirit means many different things to people so it isimportant to get the meaning of the use suggested in this passage of scripture found inEph. 6:18. The word here [pneuma] is used in several ways [Holy Ghost, Lord, Human,of Christ, even as evil or angelic.] This means there is a certain amount of liberty in ourrelating to this thought in the passage but we should get as close to the intent as possible. Having said all of that we will look at the first response from [Strong’sConcordance] in its definitions.A. The third person of the triune God, the Holy Spirit, coequal, coeternal with the Fatherand the SonB. Sometimes referred to in a way which emphasizes his personality and character (the\"Holy\" Spirit)C. Sometimes referred to in a way which emphasizes his work and power (the Spirit of\"Truth\")D. Never referred to as a depersonalized force This reveals that the description of the use of this word is the Holy Ghost! But itrefers to his inter actions in different ways. The most obvious is unknown tongues buthe is not limited to this in this passage. You may have never received the infill of GodsSpirit with this gift as others have but it does not mean the Holy Ghost is not presentwith you. There is a lot of confusion that tends to separate Gods children in this areathat should not be there or I should say would not be there with a little time and study.First of all you can not be born again without the agent of Gods Holy Spirit performing

the work secondly you may have never been taught anything about this area leaving youwithout faith or desire for it. Thirdly you may have been taught wrong planting the fearof it and rejection of the truth concerning the Holy Ghost. Regardless of where you areallow me to reassure you that God is bigger than the flaws of man kind. The Holy Spiritis with all of Gods Children not just a few. He is every where the Spirit of Christ ispresent in an individual. I believe all should be filled as I have sufficient scripture to backthe statement but we can not take the space or time here to explain it. This article isabout prayer and the Holy Spirit will express himself in different ways. In [B] it statesthat the Holy Spirit will express himself in personality and character. This may beevident in compassion of prayer, emotions such as crying or joy. It is never the less aspiritual prayer from the heart of Gods Spiritual character concerning the subject ofprayer. This happens when the Holy Spirit moves upon an individual praying. [C]Emphasizes the idea of power through works that are needed. This is seen when someoneis praying and all of a sudden discerns or desires that they need to act somehow in thecircumstance. They may need to give or go and see or get involved in a greater measureto the answer allowing Gods truth to be expressed or activated where Gods love isconcerned. [D] Reveals something much deeper about this area to us. It is this! There is apersonal interest at work in all of these areas revealing Gods love and will in associationwith the individuals true concern. Never underestimate the power of true compassionand concern. I believe this is most likely the necessary requirement for true prayer in orof the Spirit. God is a Spirit and God is love. 1Jn. 4:16 And we have known and believed the lovethat God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God inhim. I have been Spirit filled from around 1981 but that alone will not bring results Godmust be entered into through genuine love and I have seen many wonderful answersthrough Gods Spirit when his people who do not speak with other tongues pray earnestlyin love. If this were not true how would anyone attempting to grow in God ever get hishelp or remain encouraged to continue in the faith. It would be impossible. So don’tdisqualify yourself from having Gods help and ability simply because you do not act orpray as another. I encourage you to grow and to seek the gifts and to be filled with Gods Spirit as itis available but 2017 needs you praying from the heart and through Gods help now! There is a vast amount of things to say about the area of prayer as my library continuesto grow with information on the subject so I encourage you to seek development alwaysin this area. But we must be Spirit Ready at all times of growth not only after exhaustedtimes of study and information that comes from years of truth and discovery in Godsword. I will leave you with this scripture on the subject as an encouragement of pursuit. Eph. 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Dr. Cliff Carr

He Wants Me! Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. By Chris Thomas What do you do when confronted with intimacy? Did you know that this is ourgoal? Did you know that this is the destination? The pearl of great price. This is theprize. This is what we are supposed to be desiring so much that we are willing to sacrificewhat we have for even a glimpse or a moment. Intimacy is exploration. Intimacy iscultivation. Intimacy is impartation. Intimacy is the place of seed planting and watering.Intimacy is Gods greenhouse. If there is no intimacy, there is no fruitfulness or fulfillmentby God, of God, or for God. The farmer that’s not able to sow his seed effectively is neverable to rejoice in the harvest. Specifically I am talking about intimacy with the Lord. Intimacy with Lord? Whata statement. Is this necessary? required? achievable? Too awkward? For many, it’seasier to avoid the topic because they know that intimacy always requires humility andthe giving of oneself. Scripture calls the Lord the vineyard planter and vine dresser. Hedoesn’t do these things with a magic wand. He doesn’t work with us against our will.Instead, He works with us in cooperation with our will, desiring to work in us, andultimately work through us. Intimacy is absolutely necessary for true change andfruitfulness. Songs are only an expression of the necessity of His presence. One thing todo the next time you enter into corporate worship and praise is to ask yourself,” what ismy motivation for singing this song?”. If the answer isn’t an overwhelmingly desire totouch God, then perhaps the cares of this world have convinced you that your need isgreater than the blessing of His presence. What has happened is that the church hasallowed the outward appearance of Christianity to replace an inward reality and destinyof true embrace. One is fake. The other is function. It’s time to go beyond the surface. It’s time to go from awkwardness of worship to a full expression of our desire for Him.This is every ones challenge. He is the prize. He is the goal. He is the destination. Not the God of ourimagination. The one true God. The Father. [Elohim]. The God of Abraham, Isaac andJacob. The same Father that Jesus would separate and spend time with. The God ofMoses. The God of David and Daniel. The God of Israel. He’s not a generalization ofGod. He is the Father. The Creator. He is the destination. So, what do you do withintimacy when He says He wants it? What do you do with intimacy when you realize theFather sacrificed His Son so the embrace of you could be possible? Do you ignore it? Doyou resist the call? Do you hide yourself like Adam and Eve did in the garden, hiding intheir shame?

Love, in our definition, is self-motivated and tainted by the contamination offallen man. We have our own ideas of what love is and how we use it. And for manypeople it is selfish. Or perhaps, on the other hand, it is damaged. Hurt and pain hascalloused the doorways of our hearts causing us to only trust so far, or go so far.Distrust always protects, never allowing or giving in true abandonment. Either way, ourdamaged and skewed love ideas continue to fall short of the true definition of love, which is God. God is love. It’s not something He has or chooses to act like. It’s not a frilly wordthat He uses to manipulate people. It’s who He is. He is love. He is the creator of it.The essence of it. Perfectly. The definition is Him. Websters can’t define it andShakespeare can’t portray it to its fullness. Only the true creator of it can reveal it.God. Why am I saying this? I realize that even as you read this, it can be somewhatmuddy and unclear. There are a couple of reasons for this confusion. We either don’tknow who we are as a believer, and /or we are contaminated with worldly ways. We tendto believe more in what we see on television or in the movies. We allow ourselves tobelieve more in the emotionalism of a love song on the radio, and quickly use it as ourmeasuring rod for our own experiences. Or perhaps we were raised spoiled and relatedthis to love. Or maybe we were over disciplined in the name of love. Regardless ourdefinition, and we all have one, we must be willing to allow the Lord to redefine in eachone of us what true love is. But as long as we think we understand it we will neverrepent from our worldly view and embrace His correct view. So let’s look at these two words. Love and intimacy. Very similar in nature aren’tthey. Some might even say they are the same thing. But are they? Both intimacy andlove at their core are different things, yet one is dependent on the other. Did you hearthat? Without one of these, the other one is not a reality. It’s very important tounderstand that if we are desiring fruitfulness, we must be willing to let go of everypossible fantasy. What do I mean by fantasy? Anything that isn’t truth is fantasy. Isyour idea of Christianity truth or fantasy? What is your belief system based upon? Is itbased upon scripture, or a handed down version of a watered down truth? Love, apartfrom intimacy, is still very expressible. However, intimacy, apart from love, is not a trueexpression. Apart from love, intimacy is twisted and perverted, mostly revealing itselfas unbridled lust. Love and intimacy are different. True intimacy is birthed out of truelove. Both grow and develop in expression over time as we cooperate with the creator ofthem. As in any relationship, we see there is a call and response. Just think about it.The guy is attracted to the girl. He calls. Perhaps she responds, or perhaps she doesn’t.But the response would never be an option without the call. Without the initial actionthere wouldn’t be cause for a reaction. The Father, which is perfect love, calls us. Thisis a continual call because He desires us always. This a very simple process. 1. We musthear His call. 2. Decide if we are going to respond. 3. Decide how we are going torespond 4. Respond. Here’s the thing, each of these areas have road blocks that havebeen set up by the enemy. Why has the enemy set these road blocks against you? Whyhas he chosen to block your way to the Father? This can be a complex answer, but thereality is that he just hates God. He hates you and me. He desires that the Father have

no pleasure. The enemy understands that our presence and union with the Lord ispleasing to Him. He does all he can to block the voice of the Lord from reaching our ears.Once he loses that battle, he then tries to intimidate us with confusion and condemnationso that we are unable to respond. Satan is a liar and intimidator. He’s a bully who desiresto plunder the saints of God. He robs them of fruitfulness and function. So we see this, the response is dependent upon the call. How we respond isdependent upon which call we hear. There is no doubt we all hear a call. But which callare we hearing? Remember, the goal is true intimacy. The true call is desiring embrace. We must be willing to hear the voice that leads to it. Let me say it this way. Some areonly listening for a call of rescue and help over and over and over again. They haveproblems and are only equating God to a problem fixer. Unless developed, this call willonly yield a limited response because it is a limited call. Some continue to only listen for acall of pleasure and peace and happiness. They pursue a form of godliness because theyfeel they have a God-given right to be happy and filled. Unless developed, this call willonly lead to a limited response because it is a limited call. So am I saying we shouldn’tdesire pleasure, and happiness and rescue? Not exactly. What I’m saying is that Hewants us to see Him as our pleasure and happiness and rescue as opposed to just wantingthese things. As a bi-product of an intimate relationship, these things are distributed bythe Father as He sees best for the development of His children. We have to completelytrust Him. He knows what’s best. I’m not going to give one of my untrained children thekeys to my car so they can drive to the store. Why am I withholding the keys? Out oflove. I do this because I know the most precious thing is their presence. God is the same, except He loves perfectly. He desires that we prosper and be in health, but these arecontingent upon the prosperity of the soul. So allow me to say it again. What voice or what call are we hearing? Is it love?Have you heard your Lover calling? Is that too heavy? Is that too intimate? , or haveyou been motivated and pushed around by your needs and desires? Have you consideredHis needs? Have you considered His desires? Have you considered His hunger for us?His anticipation of our gathering? Have you considered His motivation, which is poweredby His love, is intimacy with us? I am the destination of His motivation. Of course Hedesires it go beyond me. But how can it if I never allow it to penetrate my heart and mylife? This is the true call. This is the call of love that leads men and women to truerepentance. Not just remorse. This is the call that leads to true intimacy. Not just a formof religion. This is the call that leads to true passion and a true stripped downabandonment before Him because He has become the destination of our motivation. Welove Him because He first loved us. True love says “I am here for you more than I amhere for me”. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son [Jn. 3:16]. I was thedestination of His motivation. Not my happiness. Not my pleasure. Not my rescue. Notmy abundance. He wants me. He wants you. He possesses all of these things and is willingto shower them upon us, but it’s us He wants. These things are only an empowerment forHis usefulness. We must be willing to see that our happiness is not founded in Hisprovision, it’s founded in His presence. Not a mystical presence. But being together in theSpirit.

When did we start believing that He isn’t enough? Why have we acted as though Godhas a provision barn apart from the glory of His presence? What do you do when truelove calls and intimacy is desired? Respond. Realize that this is the place of embraceand transfer. This is the place of perception and conception. As even in the natural, justbecause a mother doesn’t immediately know she has conceived doesn’t mean she hasn’t.Though we may not see immediate results, intimacy is fruitful. We serve a God of loveand impartation because He is a God of intimacy. Hear His desire for you more thanyour desire for you. Then respond. It doesn’t have to be much, it just has to be honestand real, even if it’s only one word or deed. If perhaps this isn’t enough, and you feel your need is greater, and that youranswer is in something else, then perhaps your ear is tuned to the wrong voice. Beloved Iwish above all that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers [3Jn. 2].Prosperity of the soul outside of the glory of His presence and word is vanity. Truewealth is Him. He is the pearl of great price. True health is Him. He is enough. Intimacy has an impartation to and from God. There are no back doors or secretpassageways into it. Hear the call that desires you, above the call of your desires. TrustHim passionately. The evidence that you have heard the true voice of your lover callingwill be in the substance of your unselfish abandoned response. He will be your desire. And you’ll know it. You can’t fake it. You can’t produce it. But you’ll know it’s rightwhen it’s simple and honest. You’ll know by His confirmation of His immediate responseof love and affection. You’ll know by the evidence of His embrace that’s awaiting youand I, even now. God Bless Chris Thomas Minister of Music What do you do when true love calls and intimacy is desired ? Respond!
