YR 7 WK 2 PHIDEL GROUP OF SCHOOLS, LAGOS 7/30/2023 9:11:15 PM LESSON OBJECTIVES: WEEK TWO TOPIC: At the end of the lesson, the RENEWABLE AND NON-RENEWABLE ENERGY students will be able to: 1. Define renewable and non- KEY NOTES: renewable energy. 2. Give examples of both renewable and non- renewable energy. 3. Distinguish between renewable and non- renewable energy. HOME

YR 7 WK 2 TOPIC: RENEWABLE ENERGY AND NON-RENEWABLE ENERGY 7/30/2023 9:11:16 PM INTRODUCTION What are the sources of energy? Can you remember: the sun, petrol, battery, etc? These are sources of energy. Which of them can last forever and which cannot? Anyways, the energy that last forever is called renewable and the one that cannot is non-renewable energy. HOME

YR 7 WK 2 TOPIC: RENEWABLE ENERGY AND NON-RENEWABLE ENERGY 7/30/2023 9:11:16 PM MEANING OF RENEWABLE AND NON-RENEWABLE ENERGY Renewable energy is the energy from a source that cannot be used up totally, it produces energy from time to time. Non-renewable energy is the energy from a source that can be used up and will then need replacement. Think of this: Why do car owners buy fuel from time to time? Why is water continuously supplied from a good borehole? What do you do to the sun? The first question shows that petrol does not last forever, as you exhaust it, you must replace it, so it is non- renewable while the other two questions point to the fact that those sources do not need replacement (non- renewable). YR 7 WK 3 PHIDEL GROUP OF SCHOOLS, LAGOS 7/30/2023 9:11:16 PM LESSON OBJECTIVES: WEEK THREE TOPIC: At the end of the lesson, the HUMAN REPRODUCTION students will be able to: 1. Define menstruation and its KEY NOTES: hygiene. 2. State the signs of ovulation. 3. Describe fertilization and conception. HOME

YR 7 WK 3 TOPIC: HUMAN REPRODUCTION (I) 7/30/2023 9:11:16 PM What is reproduction? Reproduction is the biological process by which new individual organisms (off springs) are produced from their parents. Biological process involves the mating of the male sex cells or gametes (sperms) and female sex cells (eggs or ovum, plural-ova). The union of the sperms and the eggs is called reproduction. Types of reproduction 1. Asexual reproduction. 2. Sexual reproduction. Our focus in this chapter is sexual reproduction while you learn more about asexual reproduction in the senior classes. Reproductive system This part of the body that are involved in reproduction are called reproductive organs. The working together of all the reproductive organs is called the reproductive system. HOME

YR 7 WK 3 TOPIC: HUMAN REPRODUCTION (I 7/30/2023 9:11:17 PM Sexual reproduction This involves the union of gametes of the parents (father and mother). The gametes only unite through sexual intercourse. Examples of animals that practices sexual reproductions are herbivores, carnivores and omnivores including human beings. These animals make use of their reproductive organs for the sexual reproduction. HOME

YR 7 WK 3 TOPIC: HUMAN REPRODUCTION (I 7/30/2023 9:11:17 PM Male reproductive organs The male reproductive organs include testes, scrotum, sperm, ducts, bladder, urethra and penis HOME

YR 7 WK 3 TOPIC: HUMAN REPRODUCTION (I) 7/30/2023 9:11:17 PM Female reproductive organs The female reproductive organs that make up the female reproductive system include the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus (womb), vagina, vulva, cervix. HOME

YR 7 WK 3 TOPIC: HUMAN REPRODUCTION (I) 7/30/2023 9:11:17 PM Menstruation and Menstrual hygiene Menstruation: This is the flow of blood and other materials from the linings of the uterus through the vagina as a result of failure of fertilization. Menstruation occurs at puberty stages in a woman at average intervals of one month. Menstrual cycle: The period from which a menstruation begins to the beginning of another one. For example, if a woman starts menstruation on the 12th of October and the next one comes up on the 10th of November, the period (12th October – 10th November) is her menstrual cycle. HOME

YR 7 WK 3 TOPIC: HUMAN REPRODUCTION (I) 7/30/2023 9:11:17 PM Menstrual hygiene This means the act of using a clean material to absorb or collect menstrual blood. Certainly, a woman ( a female at puberty) must learn how to do the following as menstrual hygiene; 1. Clean and safe material such as sanitary pad must be put on to collect or absorb the blood. 2. The sanitary pad must be changed as often as necessary for the duration of the menstruation. 3. Soap and water must be used to wash hands before and after changing the pad. They must be used to take bath frequently during the period. 4. Pads are to be disposed properly. For example, the pad can be wrapped with newspaper and dumped in a dustbin. It is not good to flush it in water closet toilet as it may cause blockage. 5. Every woman should endeavor to use original pad or any other material that will make them free to move, run, jump, or do any other activities without being uncomfortable. HOME

YR 7 WK 3 TOPIC: HUMAN REPRODUCTION (I) 7/30/2023 9:11:17 PM Ovulation: This is the release of an egg which is mature for fertilization from the ovary to the fallopian tube. Ovulation period is the period a woman’s body system is ready for pregnancy and its usually occurs 12-16 days before the next period starts. Signs of ovulation: These are the indications that give an insight or clue that a woman ovulates. i. Increase in vaginal discharge: Most women discharge whitish or creamy substance when there is no ovulation. However, the discharge increases and changes from white or creamy to clear, stretchy and slippery substance during ovulation. ii. Increase sex drive: At ovulation, the woman will have more urge to have sex. iii. Increased body temperature: The body temperature of a woman ovulating will be slightly high. HOME

YR 7 WK 3 TOPIC: HUMAN REPRODUCTION (I) 7/30/2023 9:11:18 PM iv. Bloating: It is a condition in which the abdomen of a woman feels uncomfortably full or swollen with fluid of gas. v. Breast tenderness: Women experience a feeling of pain or discomfort in the breasts often with a feeling of fullness. Fertilization We have discussed about how the male gametes unite with the female gametes. The union of the two gametes is called fertilization. Fertilization develops into pregnancy (conception). Conception This is the act of conceiving a baby in the uterus (womb). This means, a fertilized egg has developed into zygote, which later develops into foetus in womb. At this stage, we say the woman has conceived or she is pregnant. HOME

GRADE SEVEN ASSESSMENT QUESTIONS 7/30/2023 9:11:18 PM EVALUATIO 1. What is menstrual hygiene? 2. Interpret ovulation and ovulation signs 3. Explain the concept of conception. HOME

YR 7 WK 4 PHIDEL GROUP OF SCHOOLS, LAGOS 7/30/2023 9:11:18 PM LESSON OBJECTIVES: WEEK FOUR TOPIC: At the end of the lesson, the HUMAN REPRODUCTION (II) students will be able to: 1. Outline the symptoms of KEY NOTES: pregnancy. 2. Draw to show the growth of human pregnancy. 3. State the consequences of teenage pregnancy. HOME

YR 7 WK 4 TOPIC: HUMAN REPRODUCTION (II) 7/30/2023 9:11:18 PM SYMPTOMS OF PREGNANCY Basically, the woman is expected to miss her menstrual period. In addition to a missed period, the earliest signs and symptoms of pregnancy might include the following: 1. The breasts become tender or sensitive: They might feel fuller and heavier. 2. Nausea: They feel sick with or without vomiting in the morning or finding that smell that never bothered them before now cause nausea or irritation. 3. Increased urination: Pregnant women might find themselves urinating more often than usual. 4. Fatigue (tiredness): During early pregnancy, they get tired easily, which can make them feel sleepy. 5. Food dislikes: They may not like eating certain foods, hence she dislikes them and this may not be so when she was not pregnant. HOME

YR 7 WK 4 TOPIC: HUMAN REPRODUCTION (II) 7/30/2023 9:11:18 PM Growth of the foetus During sexual intercourse between male and female, the male gametes produced by the testes unite with the female gametes produced by the ovaries. The union occurs in the fallopian tube, sperms cannot move by themselves, so they swim in liquid called semen to the fallopian tube, to meet the egg for fertilization and form what is called zygote. The zygote then moves into the uterus for further development. At this stage, it is now called foetus and organs are forming and developing. In the womb, the foetus can obtain food, blood and oxygen and even pass out waste products through the placenta which has the umbilical cord that connects it with the mother’s body system. The growth of foetus continues until the average of nine months when the foetus would have developed into anew offspring and is delivered by the mother as a baby through the vagina. HOME

YR 7 WK 4 TOPIC: HUMAN REPRODUCTION (II) 7/30/2023 9:11:19 PM Consequences and implications of teenage pregnancy There are major consequences during teenage pregnancy. Consequence of the teenager 1. High rate of anemia diseases: Anaemia is a low concentration of hemoglobin in the blood. Some pregnant women develop anemia. This is more likely to occur in higher rates among adolescents because of the insufficient amount of healthy calories needed during pregnancy. 2. Hypertension: This increases the risk of complications such as high blood pressure because she is emotionally down, thinking about her situation. 3. Anxiety and fear: Feeling of anxiety and fear also increases in teenage parents as well as pregnant teens especially about delivery. 4. School dropout: Pregnant teenagers are more likely to drop out of high school because of shame or inability to continue their education. HOME

YR 7 WK 4 TOPIC: HUMAN REPRODUCTION (II) 7/30/2023 9:11:19 PM Consequences to the infant 1. Low birth weight: Babies may have organs that are not fully developed leading to lungs problem, bleeding in the brain, vision loss or serious intestinal problems. 2. Teenagers are likely to get addicted to smoking, drinking and taking social drugs during pregnancy which can cause infections or lead to another health problems for the baby. 3. The baby may lack access to medical care, immunization or vaccination, hence development and good health are not guaranteed for the baby. 4. Child born from teenage pregnancy are likely to become teenage mothers too: this is because she has her mother to emulate in terms of character or better still, she see her mother as a role model. HOME

GRADE SEVEN ASSESSMENT QUESTIONS 7/30/2023 9:11:19 PM EVALUATION 1. Detect the symptoms of pregnancy. 2. Enumerate three consequences of teenage pregnancy HOME

YR 7 WK 5 PHIDEL GROUP OF SCHOOLS, LAGOS 7/30/2023 9:11:19 PM LESSON OBJECTIVES: WEEK FIVE TOPIC: At the end of the lesson, FORCE the students will be able to: 1. Define force. 2. State the types of force 3. Classify different types of force. KEY NOTES: HOME

YR 7 WK 5 TOPIC: FORCE 7/30/2023 9:11:19 PM What is force ? Force is an action which causes a body to move or change its position. Any substance, object or matter is called a body. When force is applied , any of the following can occur; i. A body at rest moves. ii. A body at rest changes its direction. iii. A body at rest changes its speed. iv. A body that is moving stops. Types of forces 1. Contact force 2. Non-contact force HOME

YR 7 WK 5 TOPIC: FORCE 7/30/2023 9:11:19 PM 1. Contact force: A force which occurs after there must have been a contact between the source of the force and the object on which the force is applied. This means, before the object can move, stop or change position, whatever is supplying the force must touch the object. HOME

YR 7 WK 5 TOPIC: FORCE 7/30/2023 9:11:20 PM 2. Non-contact force: A force is applied on an object without any contact between the source of the force and the object. HOME

YR 7 WK 5 TOPIC: FORCE 7/30/2023 9:11:20 PM S/N contact Meaning Examples 1. Push The force moves the Pushing a table, car, 2. Pull object forward. bed etc. 3. YR 7 WK 6 PHIDEL GROUP OF SCHOOLS, LAGOS 7/30/2023 9:11:20 PM LESSON OBJECTIVES: WEEK SIX TOPIC: At the end of the lesson, the Calculation of gravitational force students will be able to: 1. Illustrate the effects of force on the body. 2. Mention the advantages and disadvantages of force. 3. Calculate the work done on an object. KEY NOTES: HOME

YR 7 WK 6 TOPIC: CALCULATION ON GRAVITATIONAL FORCE 7/30/2023 9:11:20 PM What is gravitational force? Gravitational force is a force that attracts any two objects with mass. It is an attractive force in nature. Calculations involving gravitational force Formula GF=Mg Where, GF= gravitational force (N), M= mass(kg) and g= acceleration due to gravity (9.8m/s2). Work example Calculate the gravitational force of a body of mass 9kg (g= 9.8) Solution GF= Mg Mass= 9kg, g= 9.8 GF=9x9.8 = 88.2Ns HOME

YR 7 WK 6 TOPIC: CALCULATION ON GRAVITATIONAL FORCE 7/30/2023 9:11:21 PM FRICTION Friction is the force that prevents the motion between two solid surfaces in contact. Friction slows down the body and acts in the opposite direction the body is supposed to move until the body stops. Advantages of friction 1. Friction helps humans beings or other mammals to hold objects. 2. Friction makes grinding machines work effectively 3. You are able to join two pieces of wood together because of friction. 4. Friction enables human beings to walk on the floor without slipping. This is why people slip on polished tiles because there is no enough friction. 5. Sharpening of tools like hoes and cutlasses are possible because of friction. HOME

YR 7 WK 6 TOPIC: CALCULATION ON GRAVITATIONAL FORCE 7/30/2023 9:11:21 PM Disadvantages of friction 1. Wear and tear: It occurs in the moving parts of machines as a results of friction. 2. Heat generation: When there is friction in between moving parts of machines, unwanted heat is generated, thereby making the parts hot. 3. Energy consumption: Energy is wasted while repairing damaged parts as well as results of friction. 4. Reduction in efficiency: Friction reduces the efficiency of machines. 5. Money wasted: Money is spent to repair parts of engine that are affected by friction e.g. changing of a car tyre. HOME

GRADE SEVEN ASSESSMENT QUESTIONS 7/30/2023 9:11:21 PM EVALUATION 1. Illustrate two effects of force on body. 2. Differentiate between contact and non-contact force 3. Mention two advantages and disadvantages of friction HOME

YR 7 WK 8 PHIDEL GROUP OF SCHOOLS, LAGOS 7/30/2023 9:11:21 PM LESSON OBJECTIVES: WEEK EIGHT TOPIC: At the end of the lesson, the EARTH IN SPACE students will be able to: Explain the meaning of earth in space . KEY NOTES: HOME

YR 7 WK 8 TOPIC: EARTH IN SPACE 7/30/2023 9:11:21 PM Earth In Space This means the study of the activities that exist in space. In other words, what happens in the world outside the earth. HOME

YR 7 WK 8 TOPIC: EARTH IN SPACE 7/30/2023 9:11:21 PM Revolution of the earth Revolution of the earth is the second type of movement of the earth. Apart from rotation of earth on its axis, the earth revolves round the sun along the orbit of the earth. A complete revolution of the earth takes 365 days or one year. HOME

YR 7 WK 8 TOPIC: EARTH IN SPACE 7/30/2023 9:11:22 PM Rotation of the earth Rotation of the earth is one of the ways the earth moves. The earth rotates from the west towards east and completes one rotation on an imaginary line that [asses through the north and south poles of the planet ( The line is called axis) once each day (24hours). As the earth rotates, half of it faces the sun and the part experiences day time while the other part experiences night. Hence, the rotation of the earth causes day and night. HOME
