Paper ID: 24 DESIGN AND EXPERIMENTATION OF ARROW THROWING MECHANISM FOR ROBOCON 2021 SHETH KUSHAL, SHEKHDA DHRUMIL, VASJARIYA ABHAY, CHAUHAN MIHIR, MECWAN AKASH Institute of Technology, Nirma University, S G Highway, Ahmedabad-382481. Gujarat, INDIA ABSTRACT: In an ideal Projectile motion, the parameters of the projectile like Range, Maximum Height, Time of flight and path of the projectile can be known by its conventional equations. But they are calculated without considering the air drag and the losses of the systems. In the physical world, the systems are not in ideal con-dition; the air drag, the environmental conditions and the shape of the projectile affect the motion. This article mainly focuses on the computation of the projectile parameters of the distributed mass object (arrow) consid-ering the surrounding conditions and the analysis of the mechanism which is pneumatically actuated and can be used for shooting, rather than the conventional bow and arrow mechanism. This mechanism is anchored to the robot for ABU Robocon 2021 competition. Paper ID: 26 SIMPLIFICATION OF BEARING FAULT DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE USING MATLAB APP DESIGNER TOOL RAMCHANDANI ROHIT; PATEL DHAVAL; BHOJAWALA VIPUL Institute of technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad (382481), Gujarat, India. ABSTRACT: Rolling element bearings tend to propagate continuous vibration signals while its operation. These signals could be captured and analyse to find out the actual condition of the bearing. Once a fault is produced in any bearing component, it tends to generate larger amplitude signals at a regular frequency, due to continuous impact with roller elements. These signals are generally modulated due to various high frequency signals present while rotation of the bearing. Hence demodulation of these signals is carried out with the help of enveloping techniques like Hilbert transform. Frequency of fault extracted after enveloping is compared with the rotation frequency of individual components to conclude fault in any particular bearing component. To make the entire process convenient MATLAB App Designer is used to analyse and display the condition of the bearing. The MATLAB App Designer tool takes bearing 18

RIME-2021 parameters and vibration data as input, providing statistical parameters and fault in bearing as an output. Paper ID: 30 SIMULATION OF FATIGUE IN HIGH-TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTOR USING MATAKE CRITERION ROBERT JUSTIN, K.B. ASHOK, JACOB THOMAS RIJO TKM College of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Kollam, Kerala, India ABSTRACT: High-temperature superconducting (HTS) tapes are prone to fatigue loadings such as repeated thermal and mechanical load cycles, which will affect the performance of superconductors and lead to the degradation of superconducting magnets. The fatigue tests will continue until either mechanical failure occurs or current is no longer transported. This study focuses on developing Stress based models of fatigue (Matake criterion) using FEA software. The experiment results from the open literature support the predicted fatigue strength of the HTS tape. The fatigue effect is modelled for various stress ratios and applied forces. It is found that with increasing stress ratio, fatigue strength also increases. Furthermore, the fatigue simulation was per-formed at both room and cryogenic temperatures, revealing a fatigue strength difference between room and cryogenic temperatures of approximately 16% of the applied stress. 19

RIME-2021 Paper ID: 31 MANAGING AND REDUCING SYSTEM FOR SPACE DEBRIS FROM LOW EARTH ORBIT SRIVASTAVA SARTHAK, PITHADIYA FAGUN Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, INDIA ABSTRACT Space debris has become a growing cause of concern in the present time. They are becoming a potential threat for future space missions in mainly LEO (Low Earth Orbit) and in geostationary orbit. Getting knowledge of different materials used in space technology and using a design which is found in our nature, we have come up with a robotic model which will use the concept of sticking property of resins in space for debris removal from LEO. Paper ID: 32 SUGARCANE JUICE EXTRACTION MACHINE MEHTA DISHANK; PATEL VRAJ Institute of technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India ABSTRACT: Over the years, conventionally, extracting juice from sugarcane was a very tedious task and a time-consuming task. It damages the gum of the teeth, putting the human teeth in distress and requiring much energy and a lot of manual effort to extract the juice. Hence, the purpose of this study is to design a sugarcane juice extractor machine that extracts juice from sugarcane with less contamination and without any significant effort. A 2hp induction motor substitutes manual effort, which runs at 1440 rpm, to actuate the rollers that crush the sugarcane. The study finds that roller speed was about 10-20rpm, so the machine uses a 50:1 speed reduction reducer that reduces the rpm transmitted by the motor. While designing the device, it used gears to transfer motion between the rollers mounted on a shaft, and bearings are used for support. The shaft is designed per the ASME standard and bending, and shear stress was taken into account. Paper ID: 33 DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF SPUR GEAR USING MATLAB SONI AMAN Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India ABSTRACT In this paper, the design of spur gear has been done using MATLAB. To complete this task, a MATLAB program has been developed, in which the user enters 20

RIME-2021 the data specified, and through vigorous calculations and available literature, the program will give output as the gear dimensions and other gear parameters required to design the gear. In this paper, the formulation for the beam strength is done according to both static and dynamic load criteria, and the formulation of wear strength is also considered in the program. After this, the program has been used in the analysis of variation in gear parameters with respect to various input parameters. Through this MATLAB program, the lengthy manual design can be reduced to a matter of a few minutes. Paper ID: 34 HYDROGEN POWERED 6-STROKE IC ENGINE VERMA SHRESTH Institute of Technology, Nirma University, S G Highway, Ahmedabad 382481, Gujarat, INDIA ABSTRACT In the present coming-of-age era, there is a necessity for an alternative source of energy particularly in the field of automotives. Engineers and scientist are constantly trying to come up with methods to efficiently reduce the consumption of fuel while lowering emissions harmful to the environment. Proposed solution is using a hydrogen internal combustion energy and utilising a six-stroke engine cycle. The reasons for this choice of fuel is that hydrogen has high calorific value and possesses tremendous amount of energy per unit mass, along with being highly combustible with low ignition energy and a wide range of air-fuel concentration from four to seventy four percent, however burns at a very high temperature and causes many anomalies in a normal Internal Combustion engine. The main problem for a hydrogen IC engine is pre-ignition and backfiring, which can be solved by using a six-stroke cycle in which the additional 5th stroke can be used as a cooling stroke for the engine to overcome these problems. Paper ID: 35 EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON SINGLE POINT INCREMENT HOLE FLANGING SHAH VATSAL; MAKWANA RUDRESHKUMAR Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad 382481. Gujarat, INDIA ABSTRACT: In this paper, experimental study is carried out on hole flanging operation. Hole flanging was done using single stage single point incremental hole flanging process. RIME-2021 Paper ID: 38 DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF FIXED-WING UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLE (UAV) WITH HIGH PAYLOAD FRACTION IN MICRO CLASS CATEGORY (MCC) SONI VEDANT; PRAGDA VIVEK; PATIL YASHKUMAR Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad ABSTRACT The area of application for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) is constantly expanding. The Mi-cro Class Category (MCC) is gaining admiration due to its compactness and wide range of applications. The MCC is categorized based on the weight of UAV ranging from 0.5 kg to 2 kg. Thus the main challenge in MCC is to achieve minimum empty weight and high payload fraction. This paper presents the design methodology and fabrication of an MCC UAV trying to achieve the least empty weight and high payload fraction. An itera-tive design approach is employed to achieve the best possible configuration and meet the design statement. Upon reaching a basic design numerous iterations, trade study, and optimization resulted in a final design. Conducting several tests ensured the unwavering quality and safety of the designed UAV. Paper ID: 39 BOILER TECHNOLOGY: USING PLASTIC AS AN ALTERNATIVE FUEL CHAUHAN SHUBHANSHUSINGH , PATEL ADITYA , SOLANKI YASHRAJ Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad-382481, Gujarat, INDIA ABSTRACT: Domestic and municipal plastic waste are non-decomposable but have high-energy content and are suitable for co-processing with coal. A global material balance study on plastic points out that 79% of the total plastic produced in the world enters our environment as waste. Only 9% of the total plastic waste in the world is recycled. A Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) report (2018-19) [1] places the complete yearly plastic waste age in India at a humongous 3.3 million metric tons each year. Indeed, even this information, terrifying all things considered, may be an underestimation. A 10:1 ratio of plastic to coal as input reduces the efficiency to 75% as compared to a hard coal fired boiler unit which has efficiency about 92% but solid plastic waste is available for free if not used and results in land pollution. The sensitivity of the economics of co-processing plastic waste with coal can be economically and efficiently as input for an incinerator boiler. 23

RIME-2021 Paper ID: 40 DESIGN CALCULATIONS AND FABRICATION OF A FOOT OPERATED HAND SANITIZER BHATIA SIDDHARTH, RATNAPARKHE ATHARVA, SHARMA AYUSH Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad 382481. Gujarat, INDIA ABSTRACT: Hand sanitizers consist of foam, gel, liquids, etc. which eliminates harmful bacteria present on hands. During this global pandemic of COVID-19, sanitizers have proven to be the most effective shield against the virus, as various studies have shown that the virus is destroyed by the use of sanitizers. At public places, many people touch the same sanitizer bottle and hence there is a risk of contracting the virus. The virus can easily disseminate, when an already infected person touches the sanitizer bottle. The foot-operated sanitizer dispenser eliminates the use of hands required for pushing the cap of sanitizer bottle. The main aim of this paper is to explain the design calculations, preferred material, mechanism and cost of material used. The acquired dimensions were tested in Ansys for its stress distribution. Finally, a real-life prototype considering the calculations shown in this paper was fabricated using industrial waste. Paper ID: 41 SOLAR WATER HEATING WITH SOLAR PLATE COLLECTORS SYSTEMS WITH IMPLEMENTATION OF ANN: A REVIEW VISHWAKARMA PRAMOD; SHARMA AJAY Institute of engineering and technology, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, INDIA ABSTRACT: Modern Solar Water Heating Frameworks are focused with their implementations in the latest review article. Solar energy is free, eco-friendly and is thus known as one of the most motivating sources of elective fuel. The good use of solar energy is ruined by the irregular concept of its accessibility, which constrains its use and feasibility in home-grown mechanical and water heating applications, in particular. A discontinuous concept of its gracefully prevents successful utilisation of solar energy, which restricts its utilisation and efficiency in public and modern contexts, particularly in water heating. Today, many high temp waters are used for home-grown, commercial and contemporary purposes. Various products, e.g. coal, diesel, gas etc., are used to heat water and here and there to produce steam. The answer to supplanting customary fuels is solar energy. The open writing is examined in order to grasp the plan, structure, applications and scale of the solar heating system and to extend the usage of solar authorities to increase the range of innovations of solar collectors in an attempt to enhance their effectiveness. There are several techniques, to optimize the performance, is available in current trend one of the 24

RIME-2021 techniques is ANN (Artificial Neural Network). ANN is a technique which provides fast and precise outcome for a complex problem. Application of ANN is growing in various sectors like Manufacturing, Defence, Business and medical sector etc. Paper ID: 42 TO ANALYZE THE EFFECT OF VARYING FEED WATER TEMPERATURE IN BOILER THROUGH SOLAR OFF-GRID AND ON-GRID CONNECTIONS TO REDUCE THE FUEL CONSUMPTION. NAIR SANJAY LDRP-ITR, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India ABSTRACT: These days a lot of money and energy is being funneled into the research and development of renewable energy or alternative energy to take seat of the conventional energy resources, since these resources are good to the environment and are not limited and can supply human beings for a large amount of time without having any side impacts to the surrounding. This study was carried out with the view in mind to try to reduce the fuel consumption in a conventional coal-fired or any gas burnt boiler by making necessary changes in its operating conditions. For concreting the script, necessary case study was done in a regional chemical fertilizer company. And in last we found that by certain take able steps we can operate our conventional boiler units by having less impact to the environment, plus low operational costs. 25
