COMMUNICATION DESIGN

This coin is made-up of aluminium, which was used in making for most of the things in the Devnagri Period. This coin is a representation of money, but since it’s an antique, its borders aregouged, and is tarnished , as it survived for ages. Although, it is in the best condition possible. Usually, in those times, there were only few richer class to keep currency. The coin is communicative as it has a message been carved on it, in their local language. The message has been sculpted between the designs spaces between the dotted border, to make it visually appealing. The coin was had a special and was specifically designed, which glided through trades becoming a major part of communicating with the person who gets it. It has its own stature, a symbol or meaning which represents Devnagris. These kind of coins were handmade. They were replaced after we got the special tools to design and carve onto things. Which gave one a better understanding to where the coin actually came from. In the coming years, people made special machineries to make coins in batches. Today, we have the advance technology to make coins in a flowing system with a perfect round shape and we use material like copper, zinc and nickel. -RASHI SHAH

STRATEGIC DESIGN MANAGEMENT

In trade, barter ( derived from barter) is a system of exchange where partici- pants in a transactions directly exchange goods or services for other goods or services without using a medium of exchange, such as money. In this image, which reflects a concept of barter system introduced by the Mesopotamian tribes, around 6000BC, is still being used today. The barter system has a huge significance during those days. This system was laterreplaced by the concept of money. The items shown above, were used in the barter system. The sliced bamboo sticks were used as to weave into a bowl. Barter system has by far been the way of transaction. This system has become a part of everyones daily life, a very important part. These things do not look fancy, but is definitely designed to full-full its purpose. Sliced bamboo sticks were used to weave into a bowl and make a complete use of the exsisting resources. -RASHI SHAH

FASHION COMMUNICATION AND STYLING

This is a considerable example of Design innovation. A forementioned man- nequin is evidence of the attendance of designers who were not only involved to design outfits, but also to display the outfits to the consumers. This cor- roborates the presence of designers in the respective era. The outfit gives the impression of being a bridal garment and I assume it to be for a higher-class female. This is a small model of a human figure which was used to present a garment to put forward its appearance when worn. Although the dress was manufactured perfectly the size of the mannequin with the perfect proportions in every angle, I assume that the designer of the garment will customize it and it may include changes according to the consumer. This indicates that there were professional tailors and masters to make such outfits. This doll is a mixture of many different materials, and different acces- sories. The designers planned the portrayal of the dress so intricately that they even added a nosegay and a tiara to render the idea of a bride. These combinations also prove that there were trends of combinations and colours along with accessories in the respective era. I conjecture that these were the beginning of the trend where one presented the design before putting the creation into action to get valuable reviews and feedbacks. This could also have been used by a garment seller or a designer at that time. It is a properly stylized outfit on a Doll for a lady with class, then and today. -MOHAMMED SHIFAAN ZERI

INTERIOR DESIGN

The given figure is Mandapa, Jaina Tirthankara. This piece of art with a med- itating marble sculpture of Mahavir was found in Gujarat. The statue was placed in the center as the main focus by using the correct lighting. The shad- ow of Mahavir causes an illusion. This is also why its highlighted. The design focuses mainly on the sculpture and the Mandapa. Also, the mirror is added to give a little more detail. the reflection in the mirror shows the tomb depicting another element of decor. The reflection of the dome-like structure increases the beauty of the space. Moreover, the addition of the mirror is an innovative way to display something that doesn’t necessarily come into one’s view. I think they had professionals even in the time of the construction of this struc- ture to have such brilliant ideas. Pillars might also be used to display stories of Mahavira through carvings and inscriptions. The pillars, intricately designed, also show the other forms of Ma- havira, just like in other Hindu temples with stories of history hidden in their walls. The sculpture is placed a little above the ground with the help of steps to show the superiority of the Mandapa. This also proves that the designers were quite thoughtful when it comes to their religion, beliefs, and standards. -MOHAMMED SHIFAAN ZERI
