SEATTLEAQUARIUM2014ANNUALREPORT

INSPIRING CONSERVATION OFOUR MARINE ENVIRONMENTSTARTS WITH “INSPIRING”At the Seattle Aquarium, we work to fulfill our mission across a breadth ofprograms designed to engage and motivate all members of our community. And it all begins with inspiration.2 Seattle Aquarium 2014

Dear Friend of the Seattle Aquarium, 2014 was an action-packed year at the Aquarium, and we’re excited to share highlights in this annual report, as well as a glimpse into our developing plans for expansion. We’re actively working on our master plan, which will be presented to the Seattle City Council this summer. With seawall construction in full swing and movement on the plan to redevelop the entire central waterfront, now is the time to expand our presence as the centerpiece of Seattle’s waterfront—and enhance our place as the region’s premier platform for marine conservation awareness and education. From the board of directors, staff and nearly 1,300 volunteers, thank you for your support of the Seattle Aquarium and its mission of Inspiring Conservation of Our Marine Environment. We invite you to visit the Aquarium’s website and blog for details on any of the activities described in this report, and many others. Sincerely, Randy J. The Seattle Aquarium truly became a unified organization on December 31, 2014,with all staff employed by the nonprofit. The transition began in 2010, when the Seattle AquariumSociety assumed management of the Aquarium, which had previously been operated and managedby the Seattle Parks Department. City employees were given the opportunity to join the nonprofitat any point during the five-year transition period, which also saw an increase of full-time staff from75 to 100 employees.Davis, Jasmine Holladay, Lindsay Leicester, Kassandra Pelaia, Elisa Theiss, AubreyDean, Ryan Hollern, Emily Lock, Steven Perry, Sara Thomas, KimDean, Sharon Holmes, Catherine Lowe, Peter Pfeifer, Allison Troka, AprilDosSantos, Andrea Hopkins, Nancy Martzall, Megan Prat, Jasmine Troka, ArianitExell, Elizabeth Hopper, Charles Maxey, Alan Riojas, Reena Upton, MelodyFitzgerald, Robert Huebschen, Phillip Mayer, Rachel Roland, Karlie Verzosa, AlfredoFritzberg, Jon Hutchins, Patrick McAllister, Anna Rothwell, Martin Walker, AudreyFyfe, Catherine Johnson, Ross Mernaugh, Jean Russell, Christopher Wallwork, ElizabethGalvin, Daniel Jules, Reginald Montoya, Lorraine Savery, Marsha Walters, SeanGarand, Cari Killebrew, Nicole Moore, Daniel Schmiett, Kathryn Wharton, JimGelow, Olivia Killpack, Kate Morris, Marty Serious, Allie Whitsett, JenniferGlenn, David Kirkelie, Robert Mueller, Susan Setiawan, Cynthia Woo, VanessaGonzalez, Kimberly Kuniholm, Tim Mulvaney, BrieAnn Sherman, Megan Zimsen, StephanieGriffing, Denise Lageson, Tessa Munoz, Sal Simantov, Amanda Zolton, AmyGubala, Tiffany Lahner, Lesanna Murray, Fran Smolen, VeronicaGunn, Jamie Lamon, Pamela Muzia, David Strassburger, Michael Note: staff who worked moreHart, Katie Langi, Amelia Newburn, Daniel Swalley, Victoria than 200 hours at/for theHealas, Sara Larson, Darcie Nielsen, Caitlin Swissa, Galit Seattle Aquarium in 2014 areHenderson, April Lazar, Jozsef Owens, Barbara Sykes, John included on this list. 232 0 1 4 S e a t t l e A q u a r i u m
