DIGITAL WORLD DICTIONARY THE METAVERSE T he Metaverse phase has made a rapid progress around the world. Already now, the number of estate sale in the Meta- Universe has increased . So what exactly is Metaverse ? And what innovations are awaiting us aftertime? ‘’Metaverse’’ -the short form of word for Meta Universe- is a digital platform where people can be in communication with each other through a virtual environment from different devices just by creating their own avatars. The concept was firstly inspired by the fiction novel ‘’Snow Crash’’ written by the American author , Neal Stephenson in 1992.The digital platform involves social media, AR(Augmented Reality),VR(Virtual Reality), criptocurrencies and other similar components. In fact, Metaverse completely represents a virtual environment. In other words, the transition from a virtual world to the other is possible just by putting on virtual reality glasses and some other equipments. There is no absolute limit to what can be done in this universe. As an example,a doctor in Turkey will be able to attend a surgery in Berlin simultaneously. Or pe- ople residing from various countries will be able to have dinner all together in Bosphorus, thanks to the Metaverse. So, everyting you can imagine in reality is also in the Metaverse. Indeed, the seeds of the Meta Universe have already been planted by some video game communities such as Fortni- te,Roblox and Minecraft. However, within the rising sales of NFT and Cripto Currency the sales of real estate in the Meta- verse topped $ 500 million last year according to statistics. Many historical and important structures, from Central Park to the Eiffel Tower, from the Great Wall of China to the Giza Pyramids, were put on sale for millions of dollars. In Turkey, Sultan Ahmet and Hagia Sophia Mosques are among the buildings which were put up for sale. Not only many buildings were on sale but also, it was offered for several websites too. As what will happen in the future cannot be predicted before, what will happen in the Metaverse is uncertain.Experts sta- ted that it is necessary to consider the fact that the Metaverse may disappear at any moment. Melike Yeşil /10-A CRYPTOCURRENCIES A cryptocurrency is a virtual and digital asset. It was created in 1980's by David Chaum who is the founder of e-Cash in 1983. Then, he founded a company of electronic money at 1990. ‘’Cryptocurrency’’as a term was used for the first time when Wei Dai invented b-money in 1998. Cryptocurrencies are not connected to any central authority thanks to blockchain techno- logy.Blockchain is a kind of unbreakable and complicated cryptic transactions record that even the advanced computers can’t break it. Blockchain is being used to transfer and provide data se- curity. In 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto made the first crypto money ever as known as “Bitcoin”. The head of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş said \"We can't say permissibly that it isn't safe nor can be exp- loited.\" This issue is in the research for now. Muhammed Enes Güney /10-G

KONYASPOR We interviewed with the chairman of Konyaspor Fatih Özgökçen. Fatih Özgökçen, the president of Konyaspor, can you introduce yourself to us? Fatih Özgökçen:I was born in 1997 in Konya. I am a lawyer .Between 1987-1988, I had secondary school education in this school. Then, between 1994-1995, I gradua- ted from Konya Anatolian Imam Hatip High School. Afterwards, I studied at Çankaya University Faculty of Law followingly I completed my master's degree at Selcuk Uni- versity and started my professional life. I am currently engaged in the profession of lawyer and at the same time I have been the chairman of Konyaspor since June. How did your graduation from an Imam Hatip high school cause a reaction in the sports com- munity? Fatih Özgökçen:The sensitivities of generations like us are more prominent in some branches. In some branches, we were left blank. In fact, the subject of sports is an area that should be of great interest and concern. At this point, we thought that this work should be done. We did not encounter many negative situations in terms of be- ing an Imam Hatip member in Konya. However, it has been discussed a lot whether a person who is engaged in the profession of lawyer can be the president of a sports club. Despite all these difficulties, we did not experience any problems further up. How should the youth's perspective on sports be? Fatih Özgökçen:Our bodies are entrusted to us by Allah and our duty is to preserve them in the best possible way. The best way to preserve our body is to do sports. We should not think of sports only as a monetary gain. We need to make an effort to do sports every chance we get. Because sports always give people self-confidence and courage. When we look at successful athletes, we can see this. Therefore, the more young people do sports, the more they stay fit, healthy and most importantly self-confident. Konyaspor has been playing for the championship recently. So, what is your understanding of management and what are the factors that lead to success? Fatih Özgökçen:Whatever task is given to us, we have to work and we must be eager to do this task properly. Although we did not have much experience in sports management since we took office, we had management experience. Then we started working on how we can direct it to football. Of course, we need to be strong econo- mically and maintain the balance. The first thing we did was to put the economy in order. Then we started to work really sincerely. If you are sincere, Allah helps you and opens all doors. I always tell my football friends. 'Success is yours, failure is ours.’They are playing for us and we are providing opportunities for them to achieve good results. We have a management board of 23 people working day and night. And we all hope that Konyaspor will come to better places in the future with these sincere efforts. Furkan Meneviş / 10-G & Ahmet Furkan Küçükbardaslı / 11-F Translated by : Melike Yeşil

INTERVIEW WITH THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE PRESIDENCY OF RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS : HURİYE MARTI Prof Huriye Martı was born in Ankara in 1974.After graduating from Konya Imam-Hatip High School and Selcuk University Faculty of Theology, she completed her master’s degree in 1998 and her PhD in 2005.She became professor in 2017.In the same year, she beca- me the vice president of Religious Affairs. She wrote articles, gave conferences and presented papers on women, family ,morality and values from the perspective of Prophet’s sunnah. When you look at it in terms of its effects on your next life, what are 3 things that you are happy about when you were a student at this school at our age, and 3 things you regret not doing? Huriye Martı:First of all, I greet you with love.I would like to say that although we continued our education during and after university years, we did not have the opportunity to experience the sincerity of the high school years again. Since you are enjoying this blessing right now, I admire you and wish you all a healthy high school experience filled with peace and hope. Perhaps the most important thing I did when I was an imam hatip high school student at your ages was to make good fri- ends and develop beautiful friendships. I can say that these friendships have fed me a lifetime. The second one was to cont- ribute to my self-improvement through reading books about life and human being apart from textbooks. The third was be- ing interested in music and literature. To list the things that I regret not doing because I couldn’t find the opportunity are not having been a hafiz of the Qur'an, traveling to explore my country and the world, and being able to start my art educa- tion at an earlier age by setting my heart on a branch of art. Regardless of the cultural and socio-economic environment in which they were brought up, what are the 3 unc- hangeable characteristics you expect in the Muslim youth? Huriye Martı: It is natural for the time and place we live in to affect us, and for culture and geography to permeate our li- festyle. As time passes and places change in life, there are variables that enable humanity to determine a new stance. But there are also permanent principles that cannot be changed with time and space, namely constants. For example, our dres- sing style may change depending on culture and age, but it is a constant that this style is in accordance with the limits of privacy, away from waste and showing off, that is, in harmony with the clothing principles set by Islam. Similarly, constants such as being honest and compassionate, not paying interest, and not committing adultery can never be changed by using today's conditions as an excuse. Therefore, my first expectation from a young person is to become aware of constants and variables. That is; being meticulously alert in the halal-haram line determined by Islam, not making concessions from the constants, but being flexible by seeing the realities of our age in matters that may be variable. Of course, one of my impor- tant expectations from the youth is to pay attention to whom they make friends with, who they walk with side by side and where they are going. Finally, I ask our youth to keep strong ties with their families and to benefit from the reassuring sup- port provided by their families until they become virtuous adults who have mastered their abilities. When compared in terms of Muslim women's identity, life, roles, influence and contribution to society in the Period of the Prophet and the Four Caliphs, how would you evaluate Muslim women in today's Turkey? Huriye Martı:It would not be right for me to make such a rating because every individual is obliged to do the best given their own circumstances. That is to say, in every age, there have been difficulties in the life of Muslim women, they have been tested in different ways and they have also had opportunities to do good. Every woman has to overcome these diffi- culties, which are unique to them, with her faith and effort, and to seize every opportunity she gets to do good. Everyone's test may be difficult in its own way and the conditions may be heavy. Likewise, the opportunities and blessings that Allah gives to everyone are different. Therefore, no matter what age and under what conditions a Muslim woman lives, she is expected to live as an individual who protects her dignity, knows her rights and responsibilities, and benefits the society. The fight of Muslim women for faith and justice in the time of our Prophet is a unique example for us. With the inspiration we get from them, we should do our part in today's world and try to live as a good person and a virtuous Muslim. With gra- titude. Prof.

Prof.Dr. Huriye Martı

THE HOLIEST MONTH : RAMADAN The holy book of Islam, the Qur’an, began to descend in the month of Rama- dan. One of the main features of Ramadan, which is accepted as the the month of patience, worship, mercy, forgiveness and blessings by Muslims and which is welcomed with great ecstasy and excitement, is that the Qur’an was started to be sent down in this month and it is stated in verses and hadiths that it is better than a thousand months.Qadr Night ( Laylat-ul-Qadr), in whİch the first verses of the Qur’an were revealed to Muslims, is in this month. Although the exact day is not known, but the 27th night of Ramadan is accepted as the Qadr Night. According to some Islamic scholars and hadiths, the Qadr Night should be searched in the last 10 days of Ramadan. Since the exact date is not known, Muslims spend the last 10 days of Ramadan carefully and consciously. It is obligatory for Muslims to fast in Ramadan. Muslims all over the world avoid worldly desires from dawn to dusk during the blessed month of Ramadan. BLESSINGS OF FASTING HADITHS ABOUT RAMADAN AND FASTING One of the spiritual purposes of fasting is to un- derstand the poor during the fasting period. It is ” When Ramadan enters, the gates of Paradise are ope- expected that a person should control himself ned, the gates of Hellfire are closed and the devils are and be greatful during the time he is hungry chained.” and thirsty. Another one is improving one’s self- control. It is expected for us to stay away from “Whoever fasts during Ramadan with faith and seeking bad actions and we can ask for the forgiveness his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven. of our sins. Fasting is blessing. The abundance Whoever prays during the nights in Ramadan with faith that comes to the tables during the month of and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins Ramadan is not seen at other times. fasting is forgiven. And he who passes Lailat Al-Qadr in prayer with also very beneficial for people from a medical with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his point of view. It has been proven that fasting past sins forgiven.” affects the immune, digestive and nervous sys- tems positively. These systems, which work ”There are three whose supplication is not rejected: The continuously for 11 months, rest during fasting. fasting one when he breaks his fast, the just leader, and the supplication of the oppressed person…” Fatıma Zehra Keman /10-A
