April 28, 2011 - UNF announces the addition of sand volleyball as a varsity sport, giving North Florida 19 varsity athletics programs. The Ospreys were one of over 20 schools through- out the nation to add the emerging sport. Current indoor assistant volleyball coach Emily Strack became the first beach volleyball signee, while some indoor members filled other spots on the inaugural roster. March 9, 2012 - UNF claimed the first win in program history with a 4-1 defeat of Jack- sonville. The pair of Carolyn Jenkins and Emily Strack won in straight sets, putting UNF ahead 1-0 for the first individual match victory in Osprey program history. UNF and Jacksonville met April 21 with North Flori- da topping the Dolphins, 3-2. April 22, 2012 - The first year ended with the program’s first ASUN title thanks to strong play throughout the lineup. North Florida went 4-0 over the two-day com- petition. Head coach Steve Loeswick was named ASUN Coach of the Year while Anna Budinska and Dagnija Medina picked up ASUN Pair of the Year recognition. April 21, 2013 - A win against FGCU the day before and two triumphs against Stetson gave North Florida its second ASUN title in as many seasons. UNF won 4-1 and 3-2 respectively against the Hatters, finishing the year 11-0 in matches played against foes from the ASUN. UNF secured an automatic bid to the AVCA Sand Nationals via the victory. 5

April 24, 2016 - Fast forward a few years and you find the Ospreys back on top of the ASUN once again. UNF won a grinder, 3-2, against No. 1 Stetson to clinch the title. While the Ospreys did not receive a bid to the national tournament, UNF finished the year with a program-best 24 victories. North Florida defeated Stetson (twice), FAU (twice), South Carolina and Grand Canyon that year. feb. 22, 2019 - Opening day was a fun day in 2019. The Ospreys swept a pair of matches with Chaney Howard and Antonia Harrison clinching a thrilling 3-2 win against No. 19 TCU down in Boca Raton. North Florida went on to post its second 20-win season in program history. Sept. 9, 2019 - After hosting home events in St. Augustine, Fla., or at nearby Jack- sonville Beach, on this day it was made public that UNF beach volleyball would have a home on campus. “The Coop” as it was to be known, was another step towards UNF beach volleyball’s continued rise to the forefront of the burgeoning sport. Feb. 8, 2020 - This day marked a historic day for the University of North Florida and the UNF beach volleyball program with the opening of The Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex. “The Coop” features five sand courts, a digital scoreboard and stands. UNF’s first official practice took place two days prior, while the first official matches were played Feb. 21.

BREAKING GROUND AT “THE COOP” DEC. 14, 2019 - On this day the building began at “The Coop” with the breaking of ground just north of the UNF Softball Complex. Slowly but surely the foundation was put in with the addition of sand provided by Vulcan Materials, provided January 23. Just over a week later, January 31 saw the addition of the five-court digital scoreboard provided by Nevco. Nets, provided by Butch Hendrick and Sand Court Experts, made their appearance along with stands facing west towards the five courts. THE FIRST PRACTICE FEB. 6, 2020 - The long awaited first day of practice came february 6, two days before the grand opening of “The Coop”. For UNF beach volleyball it was their first practice in the heart of campus after holding practices at the beach volleyball courts at the Osprey Foun- tain dorms or at Jacksonville Beach. 11

UNF finished with a 19-12 record, going 7-3 in league play. The Ospreys had two pairs make the all-conference team, including an all-freshman honoree and an academic all-confer- ence winner in Taryn Griffey. Additionally, the Ospreys had two ASUN pairs of the week and closed the regular season winning 12 of their final 16 matches, featuring a pair of wins over ASUN foes Jacksonville and FGCU. Prior to UNF Wright came to the Ospreys following a four-year stint leading the indoor and beach volleyball programs at MiraCosta College in Oceanside, Calif (2014-17). She started both programs and led the Spartans to five conference championships and a state title in beach volleyball. Joining MiraCosta in January of 2014, Wright quickly built a strong program with the indoor squad posting an 80-28 (74.1 win percentage) record. Under her tutelage, the Spartans produced one All-American, two all-state, three all-region, two conference players and a beach duo of the year award win- ners. She also collected a pair of conference coach of the year awards. Wright was named an AVCA Top 30 Coaches under Thirty Award winner in 2012. Wright holds the distinction as being the only person from his high school to earn a volleyball scholarship. He played for Red Rose and Lancaster Volleyball club, earning three trips to the Junior Olympics. His experience playing indoor volleyball expanded to the grass and beach at age 16 when he started playing tournaments. In addition to coaching, Wright is a CPA and currently works as an analyst for a government contractor that investigates fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicare.
