Into the New Year, we were hoping that with the change of the clock from 2020 to 2021, things will get better, like a wave of a magic wand BUT alas it was not to be. Still the same struggles and the same challenges. Welcome to FGC Voice 2021! ONE THING THAT HAS NOT EDI- CHANGED IS THAT JESUS CHRIST, TOR’S OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR IS THE VOICE SAME, YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER (HEBREWS 13:8) I am certainly glad that timeless truths are not compromised in this season that we live in. God is still actively working in the midst of our brethren. In the accompanying pages, we read stories of how the Children’s ministries ventured out of their comfort zones to reach the chil- dren at times such as this; and individuals’ lives still realising that God is leading them. While we may be separated by the closure of the JB-SG borders, it is indeed heart-warm- ing to read stories from our “across the borders” young adults venturing to reach their community. Beginning with a simple desire to bring some cheer to the community in an otherwise gloomy season, it cul- minated into a project that involved hundreds of enthusiastic and devot- ed personnel, birthing the first ever Christmas Drive-Thru. The church was beautifully transformed into ancient cities of Nazareth and Bethlehem. Altogether there were 5 major sta- tions, each narrating a portion of the entire Christmas story. The event was repeated over 4 nights in the midst of strict SOP observance. The program was well-received. Tickets for all the 4 nights were fully redeemed on the first night itself. Regular activities were carried out when- ever possible, despite delays and restrictions in attendance. The Annual General Meeting was postponed to and only concluded in the month of July. Her rela- tionship with the co-worker also deepened, and she gradually opened up to the co-worker. She will even ask for prayer support some- times. Today, the single mother has trans- formed into an independent entrepreneur who can pack her products by herself and sell her potato chips below her block. Through the JASA project, she not only received financial support, but also gained self-confidence, formed meaningful relationships, as well as received encouragement and support that she needed. 16

Art Kit boxes As we approached the month of July in the midst of our busyness, we began to realize the limitations of the online services. Indeed we should not have feared as our God is a God who does new things! The solution came to us: Online Art & Crafts. As you can see in the pictures, the children are holding in their hands our Art Kit boxes for their handicraft lessons every week. Not only do the Art Kit boxes strengthen the children’s learning because it is such a hands-on experience, it also helps the learning to be fun! As we delivered the Art Kits, the parents really felt the care and concern of the teachers. Online Children’s Day In October, we faced a brand new challenge because Children’s Day was just around the corner; what should we do? We saw the solu- tion – an Online Children’s Day! In the photos you will see our children and our teachers really put in efforts to dress up for the occasion, and some who were more creative even decorated some parts of their home to fit the theme of the Children’s Day celebrations, which was ‘Castle, Prince and Princess’. In addition, because we delivered a Children’s Day gift pack right to their door steps, they were all able to open their presents during the online celebrations and even had a virtual meal together! If I contract COVID-19, I might die The sudden realization of life and death struck me hard. It forced me to take a good look at how I had lived my life for the past 23 years. Ever since I started studying and working in Singapore, I took my health for granted. I had not been nourishing my body well for the past 5 years and taking my family and friends who loved me for granted for the longest time. The sudden illness had fear gripping my heart. What was I most afraid of? Even if I didn’t die or catch the coronavirus, what if I never recover from HSP? What if I needed a kidney transplant? What if I needed long-term dialysis? What if I can never do what I have been doing so naturally ever again? I struggled with anxiety over the limited under- standing of the disease, of how and when my body could recover from it. The worries and fears of the unknown and possible complications of this disease, and the physical pain were very real. It was com- pounded by the fact it happened in the midst of this global pandemic. All of these what-ifs led to one thing: REGRET It showed me the lavish and wasteful manner I had lived my life and treated people who loved me. For years, I chose to take the most natural of things for granted, chose to waste my time away mindlessly IT SHOWED ME THE LAVISH AND WASTEFUL MANNER I HAD LIVED MY LIFE AND TREATED PEOPLE WHO LOVED ME. FOR YEARS, I CHOSE TO TAKE THE MOST NATURAL OF THINGS FOR GRANTED, CHOSE TO WASTE MY TIME AWAY MINDLESSLY CONSUMING CONTENT THAT DID NOT BENEFIT MY SPIRITUAL, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL GROWTH. 30

ON THE DAY I LEARNT ABOUT MY FAILING KIDNEYS, GOD REMINDED ME THAT, THOUGH OUR OUTER SELF IS WASTING AWAY, YET OUR INNER SELF IS BEING RENEWED DAY BY DAY (2 COR 4:16). consuming content that did not benefit my spiri- 漫无目的地生活在虚假的舒适中，以至 tual, mental and physical growth. If it was not in the middle of an unprec- edented pandemic, how would I have an abundance of messages about hope, faith and peace ministered to me? I would not have understood the spiritual meaning behind this pandemic and global lockdown. I would not have understood that God wants us to repent and Jesus is returning soon. The truth of the Gospel encourages, equips and empowers us to persevere through trials and failures. We can rejoice in our problems, because we know that trouble produces en- durance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope. (Rom 5:3-4) 34

This whole process of securing my job and finally settling down in Singapore has shown me that God’s grace is sufficient for me.
