Do Not Lose Courage 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 99

The Everlasting Home 2 Corinthians 5:1-10 1 Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2-3 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guarantee- ing what is to come. 6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 We live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. 101

Those Who Are Asleep 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 13 Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 14 We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage each other with these words. 103

All Men Are Like Grass 1 Peter 1:24-25 24 For, “All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, 25 but the word of the Lord stands forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you. 104

Life Is Like A Mist James 4:13-14 13 Now listen, you who say, “ Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 105

Responsive Reading Responsive Reading Minister: Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:1-3) People: Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eter- nal house in heaven, not built by human hands. (2 Corinthians 5:1) Minister: Lord, you have been our dwelling plac through- out all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” (John 14:6-7) People: Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life. (Psalms 119:49-50) 111

Six Spiritual Steps To Be A New Man Men still cry,“ what must I do to be saved?” The Bible provides a clear answer. 1. Acknowledge for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) …God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ (Luke 18:13) 2. Repent I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. (Luke 13:3) But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Christ would suffer. (Acts 3:19) 3. Confess If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9) 4. Forsake Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. (Isaiah 55:7) 5. Believe For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16) 6. Receive He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God (John 1:11-12) 113

Why not make a decision to accept eternal life now? “Lord Jesus, I believe you died for my sins and I ask your forgiveness. I receive you now as my personal Saviour and invite you to manage my life from this day forward. Amen.” 114
