Cover Dufil newsline 4 Editorial EditorialEditorial editor’s note W elcome to the 31 Edition of Indomie Newsline. As always, we strive to st keep you informed about all relevant events and stories, spanning all our locations; there’s also a bit of fun thrown into the mix! The year 2018 has been fantastic for us, and once more, Dufil has proved that together, we can achieve great things. Almost all our locations have set new records, and broken new grounds. We are grateful to you all for working tirelessly, and going above and beyond to ensure we achieve our targets, despite the challenges that have come our way. You can’t travel the road to success without a puncture or two; and how far you go on this road depends entirely on your attitude. Quitters are part of the problem; Achievers are always part of the solution. As an organization, as a family, Dufil has never been known to be a quitter. We’ve stood our ground through economic turbulence, through challenging business environments - and look where we’ve reached today. The journey has been incredible, kudos to you all. The beginning of a new year is always a good time to introspect, to get ourselves ready for a new set of challenges and opportunities. On that note, there is a little story we thought to share: Dufil newsline 4 Editorial EDIT ORIAL BOARD Chief Kola Hassan Editor-In-Chief Isaac Onaji Editor Trina Datta Production Editor Tope Ashiwaju Member Chinedum Wali Member Francis Ariyo Member Richard Ogunye Member Sunday Afolayan Correspondent (HQ) Camillus Udeabanihu Correspondent (PHC) Charles Nsirim Correspondent (PHC) The articles, views and opinions expressed in the newsletter are those of the authors and do not nec- essarily reflect the official policy or position of the Company. DUFIL does not warrant the accurracy or completeness of any information provided in the newsletter. Going forward, in 2019, who are you going to be? We hope you choose to be the peasant who is proactive, and leads by example. As leaders, be fo- cused and assign yourself the purpose of making others happy and successful because people have a way of becoming what you encourage them to be. Invest in your team members, it pays a great divi- dend. And with that thought, happy new year 2019! A King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king’s wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. Chief Kola Hassan Editor-In-Chief

Dufil newsline 5 From The CEOFrom The CEO Reflecting on the year gone by, 2018 was a good year for business. The Nigerian noodles market grew after three years by 11%, and Indomie grew faster than that - at 18%. We launched the much-awaited Indomie Relish, a first of its kind product in Nigeria, and well-received in the market so far. Our factory in Nigeria clocked the highest number of cartons of noodles produced in a month - surpassing 7 million. We are setting up our Ghana noodles plant this year as well. Power Oil reached the milestone of selling 500,000 cartons in a month in August 2018, and I’m sure, we can expect to touch 1 million in the future as well. We also launched Munch-It, again a first-of-its-kind product in Nigeria, in a bid to strengthen our foray into the snacks category, that we had entered through Minimie Chinchin. Our milk business has doubled since our JV with Arla. Today, we are the 2nd largest player in the Nigerian milk market. In other categories, we launched Lush hair products, Hypo Toilet Cleaner, and Slim Pasta under our Power Pasta brand. Business has grown. We have doubled our capacity for Minimie Chinchin, likewise for Pasta as well. Our logistics arm, BHN, grew by 20%, adding 200 trucks to their assets, making a total of 1200 trucks. Coming to our most noteworthy achievement, we strengthened our partnership with Kellogg’s even further in 2018. Kellogg’s acquired 25% in Dufil, and increased their share in MCPL to 51%. We set up the Kellogg’s factory, on the day of Conclave 2017, in fact; this is the first factory of this calibre outside of USA. As part of this JV, Africa expansion has been a big part of our business focus. We’ve expanded to Egypt and South Africa, under this ambit; and are now set to enter Kenya with our K-noodles. As a responsible organisation of the world, there is another important conversation that gained traction this year. Businesses cannot and should not operate with only their bottomline in mind any longer. There is the concept of triple bottom-line and the three Ps - People, Profit, and Planet. We want to be at the forefront of this change and have chosen to proactively work towards the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All Dufil manufacturing units follow global sanitation standards, we have stepped up on our water treatment and recycling, effluent treatment plants and reduced our waste generation. We’ve embarked on solar power generation in order to partially switch to operating on renewable energy and taken measures to increase energy efficiency. We have exciting new plans that are waiting to unfold in the new year, plans that will take us closer to our shared vision of being Africa’s foremost FMCG company. Tolaram’s values, TORCH, continue to guide us, as we navigate through unfamiliar territories, embracing the new, and yet rooted to our core. On that note, if I could leave you all with just one thought, always remember, what the new year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the new year. Wishing you all, once more, a wonderful year! Onwards & Upwards, Mr Deepak Singhal “The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written.” R eaders, allow me to take this opportunity to wish each of you a very happy new year! New years are always special. They present to us a fresh beginning, a chance to leave behind our regrets and be grateful for the year gone by; to take with us our learnings, happy memories and renewed determination to be the best version of ourselves. Cover Dufil newsline 6 Editorial EditorialCover A s every year, the Indomie Independence Day Awards for Heroes of Nigeria, is one of the biggest events in the Food & Beverage industry, attended by the crème-de la- crème of society. The event is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by Dufil that seeks to identify, recognize, celebrate and reward the strong character, acts of bravery and achievements of young children between the ages of 0 -15years of age in Nigeria. The Award was instituted to encourage acts of heroism in children who have made notable sacrifices and strived to survive despite the unfavorable conditions they found themselves in, pushing the limits of courage and performance to set an example to the rest. The IIDA initiative has so far benefited 40 Nigerian children who have shown exemplary character and bravery. The 11 edition took place on 6 October 2018 at th th the Events Centre at Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos. Indomie celebrated three children whose actions were worthy of deeming them Indomitable Heroes, rolling out the red carpet to reward them. Fifteen-year-old boy, Master Victor Olayiwola, who had his left leg amputated for saving his mother’s life during a car accident in 2012, was among the three winners. He won the Physical Bravery Category of the award, along with Masters Elijah Ephraim Umanah and David Nengi Ayomide Pepple, who won the Intellectual and Social Bravery categories of the award respec- tively. In his thank-you speech to Dufil, Victor said, “I did what I did to save my mother and others. I love my mother so much that I did not want her to die. Awards and rewards were never on my mind when I saved them from that car accident. But Indomie has made my act a worthwhile one and a thing of joy. I am really grateful to Dufil Prima Foods Plc for putting smiles on my face.” Nine-year-old Master Pepple from Port Harcourt won the Social Bravery category for using his art talent to seek financial assistance for the treatment of his younger brother who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. At the event, Dufil Prima Foods Plc promised to fully fund the treatment of Pepple’s younger brother abroad. Master Umanah, a 13-year-old senior secondary (SS1) student of Centenary Staff College in Uyo won the Intellectual Bravery category for creating reading glasses, using torchlight, solar panel and universal serial bus (USB) ports. Receiving the award, Umanah, who was overwhelmed by Dufil newsline 6 Editorial emotions, said: “I feel extremely happy and very proud of this award. I thank Dufil Prima Foods for finding me worthy for this award. This award has encouraged me to continue on the path of invention.” The IIDA Heroes went home with multi-million Naira scholarships, and Pepple with the additional promise of his younger brother’s treatment. In his welcome address, Chief Executive Officer of Multipro Consumer Products Limited, Mr Pawan Sharma, said IIDA originated from the passion that the Indomie brand has to celebrate heroism among Nigerian children. “As a brand, we at Indomie feel the need to celebrate our unsung heroes, Nigerian children, who are doing an extra-ordinary job, without being celebrated. This year, we received hundreds of entries and when we went through those entries, we were amazed to see the kinds of Elijah Umanah, one of the award recipients expresses his appreciation to DUFIL 3 Indomitable Kid-Heroes Emerge At The 11 Indomie Independence Day Award th

Dufil newsline 7 From The CEO Dufil newsline 7 David Pepple, being escorted to the podium to recieve his award work the children were doing. Sometimes, we feel like crying for them, because those children as young as they are, are sacrificing their lives with acts of bravery. They are doing such brave things that even 40-year-old people would think twice before embarking on. We salute them. We also thank our partners such as Stanbic IBTC Bank and TVC Communications for supporting this noble cause and we welcome anyone who wants to join this noble cause,” he added. The Founder of Rise Networks, Mrs. Toyosi Akerele Ogunsiji, who delivered the event’s keynote address, reiterated that children are key to Nigeria’s future development and growth. In her keynote address, Mrs. Akerele Ogunsiji commended Dufil Prima Foods Plc for the IIDA initiative and emphasized the need for every Nigerian child to be empowered through quality and scientific- oriented education. “I want to thank Dufil Prima Foods Plc for the wonderful work she is doing in Nigeria. IIDA is the biggest and most inspiring programme for children in Nigeria. It is commendable for an organization like DUFIL Group to have stayed consistent to doing social responsibility programme the way she has been doing it, by making substantial contribution to the growth and development of Nigerian children, without necessarily getting something in return.” As a brand, we will always stay committed to celebrating the children of Nigeria, of our future. IIDA is one such proof of that. As a particularly gratifying piece of information that got to us, we recently learnt one of our previous IIDA heroes, with the help of our scholarship, has successfully com-pleted his education and joined the ranks at the Nigerian Army. ” ...we at Indomie feel the need to celebrate our unsung heroes, Nigerian children, who are doing an extra-ordinary job “

Cover Dufil newsline 16 Editorial EditorialFood For Thought Dufil newsline 16 T he Boss was retiring. Everyone had tears in their eyes on the day of his farewell. One of the emp-loyees said, “Sir, there is one thing we want to learn from you. You worked here for so many years. We have never seen you either scolding your subor-dinates, or shouting at them. We have scolded our subord- inates on pressure of work or for other reasons. We want to know the seed of your patience.” The Boss said, “This all comes from an incident in my childhood. My father was working as a lower level employee in an office. He was a very nice person. He was respected very much in our family. It happened one day, I was studying in the 4th standard. I had gone to my father’s office for some reason. I saw that he was not on his seat, so I waited outside. After some time, the Boss’ door opened, and my father came out of the door. I saw that his face had turned red. He went straight to a corner and stood there looking outside the window. He had not seen me yet. I went to him and gently called him. He was taken by surprise, turning to me with tears streamingdown his face. For a child to see his father cry is a big moment of weakness. After all, your father is the strongest man in the world for you, isn’t he? With the innocence and bravery that only a child can possess, I ran into his Boss’ room and asked, “Why did you make my father cry?” Although my father tried to make me see things from his Boss’ pers- pective, I had already made up mind: I will study well and become Boss one day, but I will not make my subordinates cry. They are not only the employees of my office, they are also respected and loved and impor- tant to their family and friends. People say it is not possible to control others without scolding them. I say, what is love then for?” People who come to work are the ones who devote their best and quality time of the day to work, leaving not much time for their families. Do they not deserve better treatment? Ships don’t sink because of the water around them; ships sink because of the water that gets into them. Don’t let what’s happening around you One who Tolerates Your Anger Deserves Your Love and your circumstances get inside you in your mind and weigh you down. Make your life such where peace becomes your priority and no negativity can exist in your life. Just because you’re angry, that doesn’t give you any right to be cruel. Anger doesn’t solve anything, it builds nothing, but it can destroy every- thing. Neurologists claim that every time you resist acting on your anger, you’re actually rewiring your brain to be calmer and more loving. The less you respond to rude, critical, argumentative people... the more peaceful your life becomes. Explain your anger instead of expressing it, and you will find solutions instead of arguments. And with that thought, the Boss retired, hoping he had passed on this wisdom to his emp- loyees. ledge, it tires the seeker. Wisdom is pursuit of truth, it inspires the seeker. 5. Intelligence is holding on. Wisdom is letting go. 6. Intelligence leads you. Wisdom guides you. 7. An intelligent man thinks he knows everything. A wise man knows that there is still some- thing to learn. 8. An intelligent man always tries to prove his point. A wise man knows there really is no point. 9. An intelligent man freely gives unsolicited advice. A wise man keeps his counsel until all opti- ons are considered. 10. An intelligent man understands what is being said. A wise man understands what is left unsaid. 11. An intelligent man speaks when he has to say something. A wise Distinction Between Intelligence And Wisdom I wish I had known these profound distinctions between Intelligence and Wisdom a long time ago... 1. Intelligence leads to arguments. Wisdom leads to settlements. 2. Intelligence is power of will. Wisdom is power OVER will. 3. Intelligence is heat, it burns. Wisdom is warmth, it comforts. 4. Intelligence is pursuit of know- man speaks when he has some- thing to say. 12. An intelligent man sees every- thing as relative. A wise man sees everything as related. 13. An intelligent man tries to control the mass flow. A wise man navigates the mass flow. 14. An intelligent man preaches. A wise man reaches. Intelligence is good but wisdom achieves better results.

Cover Dufil newsline 22 Editorial Editorial Safety First: Dufil Graduates Firefighters From PHC And Ota Factories A s with all other parameters, Dufil is committed to maintaining global standards of health, environment and safety. To that end, we have successfully graduated our first batch of firefighters at Choba and Ota respectively. Fire, as they say, can be man’s worst enemy, if not properly managed.Thousands of companies each year suffer losses due to fire, in terms of injuries, loss of lives and wanton destruction of properties amounting to billions of Naira. By establishing a fire prevention unit, the Company can mitigate such losses. DUFIL Management, to conform to standard practice and statutoryrequirements, had earlier made available fire-fighting trucks for its Ota and PHC factories; and trained enthusiastic staff at both locations to combat any fire threat that may come by. And as if to test the acquired skills of the newly commissioned fire fighters, an SOS call came from the nearby University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) community when their Ofrima Hall building caught fire. We are happy to inform you that due to the timely response of the DUFIL Firemen, the fire was duly subdued, much to everyone’s relief. The graduates were trained on how to implement a Fire Emergency Evacuation Plan. The plan dictates how to respond, when to respond, and identify a path of egress. If employees have special needs or require special attention, these details are also keyed in to the planning process. What Fire safety constitutes of – each of us plays a part! (1) Fire Prevention Plan: Establishing a Fire Prevention Plan is very important to the success of firemen by ensuring that Exits stay illum- inated at all times; by implementing a routine maintenance plan to check lights and replace broken or burnt out bulbs. This includes regular checking of emergency backup power and exit lights to confirm they are functioning. A fire prevention plan provides facilities with documentation outlining the employees responsible for identifying combustible materials, fire hazards and heat-producing equipment. It also outlines the procedures necessary to prevent potential emer-gencies. We implore all employees to go through the Fire Prevention Plan that is available in DUFIL Health, Safety and Environment Handbook. Organizations should make sure trash and packing materials are in metal containers with tight-fitting lids. Flammable materials like chemical spills and oil should be cleaned up immediately to reduce the risk of fire. Likewise, extra storage and equipment should be in proper storage areas clear of aisles or fire exits and not interfering with automatic sprinkler systems. (4) Fire Emergency Response Team: This involves developing a team of individuals who are trained and educated in fire emergency plan procedures and are willing to enforce fire safety and prevention methods always. This team will assist others during a fire emergency and help guide people to safety. On this path, always remember, prevention is better than cure! NSIFT Makes Case For Workplace Safety T he Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has called on employers in Nigeria to improve safety awareness in their work places to avoid unnecessary industrial accidents. General Manager, NSITF, Lagos Regional Office, Mrs. Olufunke Aleshinloye, who gave this advice, disclosed plans to get 90% of workers in the country to key into this scheme. Speaking during a road show to mark this year’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work in Lagos with theme, “Improving Safety and Health of Workers” Mrs. Aleshinloye said: “The NSITF was established by decree No 73 of 1993 with the fundamental mandate of implementing the Employee’s Compensation Act, 2010. The NSITF was established to succeed the defunct National Provident Fund, NPF, which has been in operation since1961 to make provisions for compensation in the case of death, injury, diseases or disability in the office place. In order to fulfil the mandate of the ECA, 2010, a social insurance scheme was designed for serving employees to ensure that they are adequately protected with regards to compensation whenever they suffer injuries from workplace accidents; any injury in the course of work outside the workplace or disease emanating from working conditions.” On non-compliance, Mrs. Aleshinloye noted that there was sanction for defaulters who failed to pay as at when due. She said: “Defaulters will get imprisoned for a term not exceeding one year or fine of not less than N100,000 or both imprisonment and fine for an individual.”

Cover Dufil newsline 24 Editorial EditorialFood For Thought Dufil newsline 24 A successful business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business. Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children, he decided to do some- thing different. He called all the young executives in his company together. He said, “It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose one of you.” The young executives were shocked, but the boss continued. “I am going to give each one of you a SEED today - one very special SEED. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next CEO.” One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed. Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow. Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn’t have a plant and he felt like a failure. Six months went by - still nothing in Jim’s pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Jim didn’t say anything to his colleagues, how-ever… He just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - He so wanted the seed to grow. A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to the CEO for inspection. Jim told his wife that he wasn’t going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim felt sick to his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot to the board room. When Jim arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other executives. They were beautiful - in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for him! When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives. Jim just tried to hide in the back. “My, what great plants, trees, and flowers you have grown,” said the CEO. “Today one of you will be appointed the next CEO!” All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered the Financial Director to bring him to the front. Jim was terrified. He thought, “The CEO knows I’m a failure! Maybe he The Seed Of Honesty will have me fired!” When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened to his seed - Jim told him the story. The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the young exec- utives, “Behold your next Chief Executive Officer! His name is Jim!” Jim couldn’t believe it. Jim couldn’t even grow his seed. “How could he be the new CEO?” the others said. Then the CEO said, “One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds; they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow. All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new Chief Executive Officer!” sitting nearby, looked at the 24 year old’s childish behavior with pity, suddenly he again exclaimed… “Dad, look the clouds are running with us!” The couple couldn’t resist and said to the old man…“Why don’t you take your son to a good doctor?” The old man smiled and said…”I did and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today.” Everyone Has A Story In Life A 24 year old boy seeing out from the train’s window shouted…“Dad, look the trees are going behind!” Dad smiled and a young couple Every single person on the planet has a story. Cover Dufil newsline 28 Editorial EditorialHealth 101 Seven Ways Your Body Benefits From Lemon Water Seven Ways Your Body Benefits From Lemon Water L emon water is all the rage these days. Many restaurants serve it routinely, and some people start their day with lemon water instead of coffee or tea. There’s no doubt lemons is delicious, but does adding it to water make you heal- thier? Much of the evidence suppor- ting lemon water’s health benefits is anecdotal. Little scientific research has been done specifically on lemon water’s impact on health as a whole, but some research exist on the benefits of lemon and water separately. Here are seven ways your body may benefit from lemon water. 1. It promotes hydration. Water is the best beverage for hydration, but some people don’t like it on its own. Adding lemon enhances water’s flavor, which may help you drink more. 2. It’s a good source of vitamin C. Citrus fruits like lemon are high in vitamin C, which is a primary anti-oxidant that helps protect cells from damaging free radi- cals. Vitamin C may reduce your risk of cardio-vascular disease and stroke, and lower blood pressure. Research shows that peo-ple with low vitamin C levels, especially obese men with high blood pressure, have a higher risk of stroke. Vitamin C may also help prevent or limit the duration of the common cold in some people. 3. It improves your skin quality. Vita-min C found in lemons may help reduce skin wrinkling. A study published in the American Society for Clinical Nutrition concluded that people who consume more vitamin C have a reducedrisk of wrinkled and dry skin. 4. It supports weight loss. A study published in the Journal of Clinical Biochemistry and Nutri- tion showed that polyphenol antioxidants found in lemons significantly reduced weight gain caused by a high-fat diet in mice. In addition, insulin resist-ance was improved. 5. It aids digestion. Some people drink lemon water as a daily morning laxative to help prevent consti-pation. Drinking warm or hot lemon water when you wake up may help get your digestive system moving. Ayurvedic medi- cine believes the sour lemon taste helps stimulate your “agni.” A strong agni jump-starts the Dufil newsline 28

Having 1/2 cup of lemon juice provides the same amount of citric acid you’d find in prescription varieties. in your mug. Always use fresh lemon and not artificial lemon from a bottle. Potential side effects • Lemon water is generally safe to drink, but there are a few pote- ntial side effects to be aware of. • Lemon contains citric acid, which may erode tooth enamel (an ironic twist for people using lemon to help bad breath). To limit the risk, drink lemon water through a straw, and rinse your mouth afterwards. • When it comes to heartburn, lemon water can go either way. The acidic citric acid may stimu- late heartburn in some people. Others may expe-rience relief from heartburn since lemons become alkaline in the digestive tract. If lemons aggravate your heartburn, avoid drinking lemon water. Some people report more frequent trips to the bathroom when drinking lemon water. Although lemon juice is often referred to as a diuretic, a substance that increases urine prod- uction, evidence doesn’t show that vitamin C from natural sources like lemons has diuretic effects. If you experience the need for extra bath- room breaks while drinking lemon water, it’s more than likely caused by increased water intake. digestive system, allowing you to digest food easily and helping prevent the buildup of toxins. 6. It freshens breath. Have you ever rubbed a lemon on your hands to remove a powerful stench? Lemons neutralize odors! The same folk remedy may apply to bad breath caused by eating foods with strong smells like garlic, onions, or fish. Keep your breath sweeter by dri-nking a glass of lemon water after meals and first thing in the morning. Lemon ice cubes: Having lemon ice cubes on hand is a great way to add lemon to your water fast. Simply squeeze fresh lemon juice into ice cube trays and freeze. Drop a few cubes into a glass ofwater. DUFIL’s success depends on the volume of its products that are churned out from factories on a daily basis to maintain our impressive market share. Our employees work day in and day out to make it possible; and so essentially, Dufil’s employees equate to Dufil’s success. Staff Welfare Schemes On staff welfare, Mr Deepak reiterated that the concern of Management is to see that all its employees are happy. He sugg-ested three core areas that the Human Resource Team should focus on and develop workable schemes for: (1) housing for all employees at minimal cost; should be escalated to the General Manager (Group HR/ External Relations) for necessary action. In his remarks, the Group General Manager (HR/ External Relations), Chief Kola Hassan stated that to actualize the above noble ideas, various committees would be setup to come up with a workable structure that will define the modalities required for implementation for Management approval. The Chief Operating Officer (Opera-tions), Mr. Adhi Narto had some invaluable inputs to the working of the schemes and noted, thatif well implemented, these schemes will improve the quality of lives of both the staff, their family members and the organization as a whole. The sense of belonging and being looked after would also translate to a stronger, happier and more loyal workforce. (2) a scholarship scheme for the children of dedicated and long serving employees; and (3) free medical treatment to all staff, their spouses and children with critical health challenges that are not covered by the existing HMO scheme. The schemes would stand to benefit long-serving Dufil staff, but it was also explicitly reiterated that no staff, either permanent or contract, should be left to die on the grounds just because they are not covered by our medical schemes. The wife says, “Oh, that’s actually better.” The husband says he can’t feel anything. Then the doctor turns it to 50% and the wife says that it doesn’t hurt nearly as much. She reaches for a baseball bat and starts hitting the blanket as hard as she can. Once she’s done, she goes to the kitchen to have a drink. As she enters, she sees her husband there, reading a magazine. He says, “Hi darling, your parents have come to visit us, so I let them stay in our bedroom. Did you say hello?” A married man was having an affair with his secretary. One day, their passions overcame them in the office and they took off for her house. Exhausted from the afternoon’s activities, they fell asleep and awoke at around 8 p.m. As the man threw on his clothes, he told the woman to take his shoes outside and rub them through the grass and dirt. Confused, she nonetheless complied and he slipped into his shoes and drove home. “Where have you been?” demanded his wife when he entered the house. “Darling,” replied the man, “I can’t lie to you. I’ve been having an affair with my secretary. I fell asleep in her bed and didn’t wake up until eight o’clock.” The wife glanced down at his shoes and said, “You liar! You’ve been playing golf!” A husband, who has six children, begins to call his wife “mother of six” rather than by her first name. The wife, amused at first, chuckles. A few years down the road, the wife has grown tired of this. “Mother of six,” he would say, “what’s for dinner tonight? Get me a beer!” She gets very frustrated. Finally, while attending a party with her husband, he jokingly yells out, “Mother of six, I think it’s time to go!” The wife immediately shouts back, “I’ll be right with you, father of four!” Dufil newsline 40
