You are Will Robinson from Vancouver, Canada, bought an HP Laser Printer 2000 from the sole dealer of HP at Vancouver, for use with his newly purchased laptop, a month ago. Now he finds that ink nozzles of the print cartridge get frequently blocked. The printer has been given a one-year warranty against any technical fault. Write a letter to the dealer complaining about it and requesting him to attend it.

Dear Sir, It is stated that about a month ago, I purchased an HP Laser 2000 Printer from you against the Cash Memo No. 1520 dated 2nd June 2020. As per your direction, the printer worked well with all the perfect printing. All our customers spoke highly of the quality of the work. However, after one month or so of its use, I am afraid to say that ink nozzles of the print cartridge are getting frequently clogged. This has caused a lot of inconvenience in the printing work. The printing quality has also become poor and obscure. My customers complain about it because the print-out is illegible. This all caused a great loss to my business, reputation as well as good-will. In the circumstances state above, you are requested to depute your technical engineer to see the machine right away. And if it is not possible, replace it as it is within the warranty period under the terms and conditions of the sale. Early action will greatly be appreciated. Thanking you Yours faithfully, Will Robinson (176 words) You have recently noticed traffic congestion in your residential area. Write a letter to the city council. In your letter, you should say: Describe the problem.

What reasons lead to it. Suggest solutions if any. You do NOT need to write any addresses. Begin your letter as follows: Dear Sir or Madam, Write at least 150 words. Dear Madam, I am writing this letter to bring to your notice the worsening traffic blockage at the intersection of East Hastings and Clark Drive in Vancouver City. Of late, there have been frequent traffic obstructions in the city, especially during rush hours and at the weekends. I have observed severe traffic violations, which exasperate the situations. The prime one is the lack of parking areas as new colonies have sprung up like a mushroom growth in the rainy season. Consequently, people have started parking improperly, and added fuel to the worsening situation. Another problem that I spotted is the road width. The volume of traffic has proportionately increased with the increase in population. While going out for an evening stroll, I have been impressed by the problem of traffic congestion, which is proving baffling and almost perplexing, to the traffic authorities as well. The road for most of the day crammed with creaking carts, heavy vehicles, and motorcycles. To curb this problem the road should be widened and properly metalled before the buses and Lorries are allowed to pass. Furthermore, no vehicle should be driven in a rash manner, no curving or cutting in and out should be allowed; cars, buses and heavy vehicles should be driven cautiously and slowly in a lane. I would highly recommend that the construction of wide roads and parking spaces are crucial to resort to the traffic jam problem. Yours Faithfully, XYZ (239 words)

I moved in with my family to your flat number 341 Sawmill Crescent, a few years ago. It has been a pleasure to have lived in your flat or the last few months and continue to be so. I have always been more than satisfied with the professionalism you show despite the personal care and concern you bestow upon me and my family. Unfortunately, I am writing this letter to complain about the problem of water dripping from my ceiling and mold spores located under the sink. It is widely known that mold spores can cause breathing issues. Before this, I have never really faced any issues with you and have never had to complain about anything. I had always appreciated the fact that even the slightest of problems and difficulties faced by your clients never go unnoticed at your front, but this time it has got farfetched serious and you fail to fix the issues. It has been over a week that I as my family members have been facing this problem. The problem occurred in one of

the bedrooms, hence, it is getting hard for us to live this way. It seems to be an eternal problem and not for a certain period. I had tried to reach you a multitude of times since the inception of the problem but could not. However, I would like to beseech you to fix this problem within three to four days. I hope you would do the needful. Yours sincerely, Brad Thompson (269 Words) You were absent from an important event held by the company you work for. Write a letter to your manager. In your letter: ➢ Apologize for your absence and explain the reasoning ➢ Explain why you had to be at the other event ➢ Explain what you will do to catch up Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses. Begin your letter as follows: Dear Mr. James I am writing about my absence from the annual company business meeting held last week. First of all, I would like to formally apologize for not being able to attend the business meeting. I admit the value of the event, particularly in terms of networking and expanding as a team. Nevertheless, my mother had an incursive spinal surgery last weekend, and I spent the last week taking care of her at home. While the surgery was not grave, it was not a mundane procedure, either. My mother needed unswerving assistance and faces a long road to recovery. Since I am a sole child, my mother relied on me during this vexed healing period, and my presence played an indispensable part in her well-being. To catch up on what was covered during the event, I have scheduled a meeting with Mr. Robinson from the Finance Department. Subsequently meeting with Mr. Robinson, I am convinced that I will be brought up to speed with the rest of the team and enthusiastic to start working. Thank you for understanding.

Yours Sincerely Brad Thompson (183 words) You need to take some time off from work to go on holiday. Write a letter to your direct manager. In your letter: Ask for time off and explain why Provide the dates and times for which you will be unavailable to work Describe what you will do to prepare or make up for your absence Write at least 150 words. Dear Ms. Williams I am writing to request time off for an annual holiday trip with my family. Every year, my extended family members plan a family gathering in San Francisco, California. As we all live so far away, these get-togethers have always been great moments for us to see each other and reconnect. It is for this reason that I would require to use some of my holiday time in August. Because the reunion falls on Sunday, August 25th, I would be available to work up until Friday, August 24th. Thus, I am formally beseeching time off from Monday, August 26th until Friday, August 30th. I would be available to return to work on Monday, September 2nd. I completely apprehend that August is the most hectic period, and taking a holiday during this time could probably raise the workload of my co-workers. As such, I would be more than glad to take on any overtime in early August or during the mid of September. Thank you for your understanding. I look forward to your response. Sincerely, Brad Thompson (180 words)

You are having a hard time with a colleague at work and you want your director for some assistance. Write a letter to your Director. Dear Mrs. Amble I am writing to you to request a meeting, to address some concerns that have arisen with a member of my team. I have been working with Ronnie Smith for over a year now and while he was a fantastic member of the team, he has now turn out to be cold and irritable. Last week he disappeared during a very important lesson and reappeared over three hours later with no explanation. When confronted he made a lame excuse for his whereabouts. I can guarantee you that I have been very flexible and understanding over previous time management issues, nonetheless, his eccentric behavior is becoming more prevalent. I would like to meet with you on Friday 17th July at 3 pm and consider the best way to address this situation. I hope this is an agreeable time to meet, please contact me at the earliest opportunity to re-schedule if there is a problem. Yours Sincerely, Brad Thompson Write a letter to a friend to inform them of a celebration you are having for a recent job offer. It’s been dog’s years we hadn’t talked and I wanted to touch base with you. I’m writing to blow my own trumpet as I just got my dream job offer that I’ve been gunning for! Truly, it’s a dream that has become reality for me, I have been offered to head up the Human Resource Department for a rival. It will mean a lot of responsibility and, more importantly, a better salary! I’m having dinner with some friends and co-workers who I’ll be leaving behind to celebrate this pivotal moment in my life. It’s going to be at an Indian restaurant in Manhattan called Darbar Gill, which is well-known for its authentic dishes and how hard it is to get a reservation. They make some of the best Indian curries I’ve ever had! If you are free on the 23rd of May 2020 for dinner you can stay at my place after the party. I’ve recently purchased a full sofa lounger and placed it in the living room that you can use as it is a sleeper sofa while in bed mode. In the morning you can catch up on the train back to New Jersey. I will be delighted if you stay over the whole weekend. Hope to hear from you! Warm Regards, Brad Thompson (207 Words)

Your friend delivered a baby girl. Congratulate her on this good news and write how you feel. In your letter, explain your situation about your inability to come and see her in person. In your letter: Say how happy you are on this news Explain your situation that you could not attend this important occasion What gifts you have brought for her Dear Stephanie, It was such joyful news to hear about the new arrival in the Watson family. I hope you must have recovered from all pain of delivery and are in the pink health again. Robert broke this news to me on the phone yesterday. I hope by the time you receive this letter, your baby would have got the name, too. It is a shame that I could not participate in this happy event. I wished to join but my boss assigned me a new task that made me travel too many places in the last three weeks This sudden traveling disturbed all my plans to be with you during this auspicious event. Anyway, the opportunity is missed now. I have decided to come to your place next weekend. Please let me know if you want something from Vancouver for you and the baby. I have bought some toys and attires for the newborn such as a jacket and winter caps. Please send me snaps of your baby on Facebook. I am dying to see your little angel. My friend, you must take care of yourself and your angel. I am always a call away for anything. Do remember me if I could be of any assistance. Yours lovingly friend,

Kelly Macmillian You have a pen friend living in another country and he/she is curious to learn about the major news items in your country. Write a letter to your pen friend and: Tell about the news Why didn’t you write earlier? How will it help him/her? Dear Ann, Hey! I trust you must be doing well! It has been dog years that I have not written any letter to you. I know you might mad at me. Honestly, I was stuck with a pile of academic assignments as well as on the verge of my submission of the first-semester research report. I couldn’t find a spare moment to relax. I still remember, in your last letter which I received three months ago, you were keen to know about the current affairs of my country. So I’m writing to provide you the latest developments in Indian politics and the economy. Reserve Bank of India has increased REPO rate by .70 basis points, which has led to an increase in home loan rates. The currency value is declining day by day which will make overseas studies exorbitant for the students who want to study abroad. Political parties are preparing strong grounds for upcoming elections. Summers are scorching and it is predicted that climatic changes are due to global warming. Some of the high profile patriotic people are joining hands to eradicate corruption from our country. The regular campaigns are organized and this is spreading like a fire all over the country. As you are a student of political science, you are always curious to

know about the latest news. But don’t worry I will keep you updated through my letters. I’ll write to you soon with more news Lots of Love. Warm Regards, Brad Thompson (243 Words) ◆◆◆ Your friend is visiting you but you are unable to receive and attend him on arrival day. Write to him about your situation, and the arrangements you have made for his upcoming visit. In your letter ➢ Describe the situation in detail ➢ What arrangements you have made when you are not there ➢ To who he should contact in your absence Dear Roger, Bingo! Ultimately the day has come for which we had been planning and discussing for the last six months. I am exhilarated at the message of your arrival and positively, we will make this excursion count. Nevertheless, to my disappointment, the arrival time of yours in Vancouver clashes with my schedule due to business engagement. On Thursday, I would be in Halifax for a seminar. Should I been notified previously, I would have either delayed or carried forth this conference. The circumstances now are I am helpless to alter the schedule because this seminar is crucial for me to meet the monthly target. Anyhow, I have a contingency plan for your arrival. I have hired a cab for you from the terminal to my apartment. I will leave the apartment key on the edge of the main gate. You get to refresh yourself and have some rest until evening. You will see two spinach Pancakes and a pizza of your choice with olive toppings and fresh orange juice in the fridge for you. I have told my cousin, Jim, who will come and pick you up for dinner. I will join you on Friday morning. I hate to miss you on the very first day but I hope you would understand my situation. In case you require any help, Jim can be reached

on 555 – 123 -4567. See you soon. With loads of love Brad Thompson Some people think that it is best to live in a horizontal city while others think of a vertical city. Discuss both views and give your opinion. Some individuals consider that dwelling in a horizontal metropolis is best, whereas the antagonists of this concept choose to settle in a vertical metropolis. While there are advantages to residents who dwell in a metropolis that consists of low-rise development. I would advocate that cities with skyscrapers and high-rise buildings provide extra benefits. Indubitably, it's useful for residents to dwell in a horizontal city-based mostly on a couple of factors such as monetary and safety causes. Primarily, individuals have to pay meagrely for construction services. If residents settle in a rented property, they might save a substantial amount of cash since they would not have to pay for maintenance. Secondly, residing on the ground floor is safer for occupants when emergencies occur. For instance, if a fire breaks out within the house, they can quickly flee from the dangerous spots due to as the building is not too high from the ground and it would not take a lot of time to escape from the area. However, it appears to me that residing in a vertical metropolis is a perfect choice. A city with skyscrapers will have ample space for public utilization as a result there can be much less land used for residential areas as a result of the number of people that can dwell in tall buildings. Consequently, the government would be able to utilize this land to construct colleges, schools, hospitals, and amusement parks. Moreover, it's far handier for residents to reside in a flat in a high - rise buildings that provides a broad range of products and services, because of malls and service centers on ground floors.

In conclusion, living in a horizontal metropolis does have some advantages, it appears to me that the benefits of living in a metropolis with skyscrapers become the ultimate choice for better living. (304 words) Some people say that in all levels of education, from primary schools to universities, too much time is spent on learning facts and not enough on learning practical skills. Do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your knowledge or experience. The attitude that the majority of academic establishments persuade more on imparting theoretical concepts than steering students acquires

practical skills has set off a heated debate among them. I strongly accord that unduly emphasis is placed on acquiring facts by tutors than on acquainting other skills. On all fronts of academics, that is, from schools to tertiary establishments a huge chunk of time is devoted to teaching theoretical concepts. The first and foremost, educational curriculums are designed in such a way that students are supposed to memorize the facts from textbooks as well as notes provided by lecturers. To cite an example, physics exams in schools are prepared to test a student's memory skills of formulae, definitions, and derivations, or short notes on concepts. Furthermore, academic institutions swamp students with profuse facts and figures. For instance, a graduate course comprises four or six textbooks and lecture notes that take all the study time. All academic institutions play down on imparting practical skills. The primary factor is the notion of students to master the theories than gaining real expertise. To exemplify, most of the physical science faculties provide lectures on concepts rather than teaching them through practical classes. Also, huge capital investment is necessitated to come up with the facilities for teaching concepts through performing experiments. For example, physics labs need to be equipped with a myriad of instruments such as accelerometer, Dynamometer, Calorimeter, Electrometer, Electrostatic analyzer, and so on. To put it in a nutshell, I strongly perceive that all institutions spend an enormous amount of time on teaching theoretical facts. The students are persuaded to memorize factual information. Lack of importance is placed on teaching practical skills as teaching through experiments requires a large financial aid or investment to build up a fully equipped laboratory.

Companies should encourage staff to retire when they are 55 years old to give more opportunities to young people. Do you agree or disagree? Descrying adequate employment opportunities for young people is a concern across the globe. It has been recommended that one way of dealing with it should be by inspiring older staff to retire, paving way for younger people. I shall look at some of the merits and demerits of it. The prime advantage is that such a system would permit more young people to start work rather than unemployed. They would be able to acquire skills and probably cultivate a sense of responsibility and greater self-esteem through work. If organizations combined this with an efficacious system for knowledge transfer from the more seasoned workers to the untested ones, it would be especially beneficial. Nevertheless, there are difficulties with this idea, too. Although that would only \" encourage\" older workers to retire earlier, the message being sent to workers over 55 could be construed as being that they are not required or desired any longer. It could also lead to better, older workers giving up their jobs to younger, less able people, which might not be desirable for the company or the economy as a whole. A further problem, particularly for Third world countries, is that retired workers would presumably demand to receive social welfare payments from the age of 55 whereas these are currently paid when they are 60 or 65. It would also come at a time when governments are considering raising the retirement age, not lowering it, on the grounds of the exorbitant cost. To conclude, I cogitate that the current system used in India, whereby workers can retire early if they want to, is best. This permits flexibility for individuals and employers. I conceive that the authorities should encourage start-ups and attract investors to invest in it. Consequently, ample job opportunities will be generated for unseasoned people (299 words)

Some people believe that unpaid community service should be a compulsory part of high school programs (for example working for a charity, improving the neighborhood, or teaching sports to younger children). To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words. Over the last few decades, the pace of advancement in the life of human beings has increased beyond our wildest expectations. This rapid transformation has created a wide sector of people who need help to acclimate to this modern society. Consequently, numerous institutions across the globe have commenced free community service programs. Although some opponents believe that youth participation in these services should be always a personal option, I am strongly in accord with the opinion that it should be an obligatory part of the high school curriculum. First and foremost, youngsters who engage in welfare work such as teaching and helping young children to learn sports, gain great experience, and moral values that will considerably impact their future studies in a university or their careers. For instance, recent research conducted in Halifax has shown that high school students who worked in unpaid community service accomplished higher scores in their college exams. Besides, a lot of individuals in society will have better access to the services offered by the community through those energetic as well as ambitious students. Finally, the government could save funds that can be

allotted to other services such as the construction of roads, hospitals, and other projects. Unquestionably great gains will come from including free community services in high school programs. On the other hand, opponents believe that these free activities might delay secondary school students from joining the college. Additionally, many high school students require to work to save money for their tertiary education, for example, recent facts and figures have unveiled that more than one-fourth of high school students did erratic jobs to save money for their education. Moreover, the high school curriculum is already stunned by various subjects, thus voluntary services as a mandatory activity will hamper their studies To sum up, it can be seen that the merits of adding community service in high school program outweigh the demerits. I do advocate that the government should encourage high schools to make a way for voluntary services in their curriculum as these services make our society better. (350 Words) The percentage of overweight children in western society has increased by almost 20% in the last ten years. Discuss the causes and effects of this disturbing trend. Obesity among children has soared distinctly over the last few decades across the globe. Such a drift is principally the outcome of a tendency towards comfort in society, yet its impacts may be deleterious to children’s mental as well as physical health. The principal reasons for obesity are unwholesome eating habits and a dormant lifestyle. In this contemporary era, there has been an upsurge in the consumption of convenience foods amidst modern families. Working parents with no time to cook rely on prepared meals to feed their families.

Such foods have little to a negligible nutritional value which adds to obesity. Additionally, children, these days spend inordinate amounts of time playing video games than playing outside with mates resulting in insufficient physical activity each day. For instance, studies reveal that teenagers in India exercise on average about 20 minutes per day as compared to 45 minutes 30 years ago. The likely consequences of obesity are a range of health issues. Concerning physical health, diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, are perceived to be higher in overweight children than their peers. These put a child’s life in danger, and may further influence mental health raising. When children are stout, they are more prone to be bullied and shunned by classmates because they look or behave differently. This has been identified to cause low self-esteem and depression in many, and thus ignore friends in favor of time alone. In conclusion, through poor diet choice and inactivity, obesity is a burgeoning problem that can cause perpetual damage to a child’s mental as well as physical development. Nonetheless, by addressing this problem while young, much can be done to assist a child in becoming a salubrious adult. Many criminals commit further crimes as soon as they are released from prison. What do you think are the causes of this? What effect will this have on society? It is an unfortunate fact that several offenders endure in a life of crime after being in prison. This is principally due to an unwillingness of the community to allow ex-convicts, which hurts the economy and induces a rise in crime victims. Owing to a shortage of job openings once out of prison, most former inmates feel vulnerable in their future. Many end with a prison record that puts off recruitment managers at major corporations who often feel ex- offenders are unreliable. As an outcome, in Canada, nearly three-quarters

of all ex-inmates return to crime inside five years of leaving prison. Additionally, society is frequently unwilling to embrace back ex-cons. Former felons report trouble obtaining apartments to rent or even appealing for financial assistance to support their learning. This prompts many to assume that a base life is their only alternative. Reoffending damages both the economy and those victims of crime. When former convicts re-offend, added tax dollars must be spent on re- incarceration, legal fees, and supporting prisoners in jail. As re- offenses persist, funds for other government programs such as education or social services must be cut to make up for increased expenses. It also results in more crime victims, many of whom face a lifetime of agony from the trauma created by crime. The more victims there are, the more pressure that citizens put on governments to keep a safe society which induces more police and overcrowding in prisons which researches show only makes the problem more acute. In conclusion, a dubious tomorrow and an unfriendly community result in more crime, more victims, and more expensive to the taxpayer. Only through transforming their attitudes, offenders will be able to grab the opportunity to live a life devoid of crimes. (289 words) Scientific research should be carried out or controlled by the government rather than private companies. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Scientific research unavoidably includes the subject of safety. If private corporations are authorized to carry it out, there are speculations of it being abused, leading to hazardous situations. This essay supports the idea that the government should carry it out or keep it under its strict surveillance.

To embark upon, experimental research can be conducted for the good of mankind as well as for damaging purposes. For instance, a study on atomic energy can assist human beings in the generation of much-needed electricity and it can also be used for the development of nuclear weapons. It is, therefore, imperative that is should be conducted under stringent control. It would be more secured if all scientific investigations are carried out by the government itself. However, there are constraints to the extent that a Government can do it. To continue, extensive scientific analysis requires elaborate facilities and is exorbitant. As the state has a lot of other priorities, its budget has to be limited in this respect. Besides, studies can be conducted for a variety of purposes. For example, they can be used to make bombs on the one hand and medicine on the other. To curb, the shortcomings of the government, it can conduct all significant studies, particularly the ones concerning risk, by itself, and let private companies research comparatively safer areas. After interpreting the several perspectives of the issue, it can be safely said that scientific research is correlated with great uncertainties and danger, it would be more beneficial if it is handled by the government itself. Nevertheless, private sources should work on less vulnerable areas as the government's resources are limited. (274 words) Nowadays people prefer to shop in supermarkets rather than nearby local shops. Why do you think this happens? Is this a positive or a negative trend? Give your opinion and examples from your own experience.

Supermarkets are gaining ground among people, leaving the grocery stores far behind in the competition. The prime cause of such a development is the enhanced buying experience for consumers. Overall it is a positive trend, and this viewpoint will be justified further in this essay. As per the latest statistics reported by a Retail Leader, most people are now advocating supermarkets for the mere reason that everything they want can be bought from under one roof like groceries, apparel, electronics, toiletries, and so on. Supermarkets have a multitude of factors that work in their favor such as a large air-conditioned ambiance, along with organized departments and skilled, friendly employees to attend customers with their purchasing prerequisites. Moreover, supermarkets stock a variety of brands and products which makes the consumer’s selection wider and his choice a more well informed one. On the contrary, certain malpractices of the local shops, say of pushing a particular brand only, and supermarkets take the response of their shoppers and stock products consequently. Since superstores stock products in a larger quantity, they can rate them at prices more reasonable than other smaller retail counterparts. Many supermarket chains try to grab shoppers by running offers as well as discount schemes. Also, few supermarkets go the extra mile to offer home delivery services which are doubtlessly a significant gain. Although there is a disadvantage of more time being used-up in search of items, it can be passed upon as shopping is becoming more of a leisure time activity day by day. Provisioning to this need, some supermarkets have a food court, making the buyers’ buying time a pleasant one. To put it in a nutshell, supermarkets are unquestionably the most preferred choice by customers. The shopping experience as well as trusted quality products at a pocket-friendly price has marked their rationalized upsurge in the retail market. (307 words)

Some people think that wild animals should not be kept in zoos. Others believe that there are some good reasons for having zoos. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. The viewpoint that whether animals should be caged in a zoo or not has ignited a heated discussion among people. In this essay, I will cast some light on contradicting sides of this perspective and then present my stance. On the brighter side, there are compelling reasons for wild animals to not be kept in zoos. First of all, wild animals are more satisfied in their natural surroundings as they can lead their lives by unobstructedly roaming around the woods, encountering the various seasons, and being around other animals. Furthermore, they will not feel as captives restricted by an area in a zoo. To quote an instance, wild animals such as leopards, elephants, tigers and so on seem more alive and strong in the forest rather than the cages in zoos. Consequently, they can acquire the advantages of nature by not being in confinement. On the other hand, there are few benefits to having zoos. The primary benefit is that it can serve as a vista for human beings to see many

different wild species such as birds, mammals, reptiles, fishes, et cetera all in one place. Additionally, people obtain extensive information on wildlife by watching them nearly; certainly, knowledge is more valuable than treasure. Besides, wild animals will be saved from their predators by being in zoos. For instance, animals are kept alone in a zoo with the intent that one doesn’t devour another, while a tiger can kill, and consume a deer in a forest. Having analyzed an array of arguments, I strongly consider wild animals should not be held in zoos; creatures should enjoy their natural environments and not be kept confined. (276 words) Music is played in every society and culture in the world today. People think that music benefits individuals and society. Others, however, think that music can have a negative influence on both. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion Music is an art. Its evolution over the past few decades is tremendous and outstanding. Many people assume and support the interests of music. Nevertheless, experts think that it has some adverse effects as well. Music is the divine expression of emotions. Each community has its conventional methods of music and musical instruments. It is the soft music which lessens anxiety and stress. Almost every crucial event of life is backed by music, whether it is joyous or melancholy. Music builds and appends to the ambiance of the atmosphere Of late, music is known for its curative power as well. Its usage in the treatment of psychiatric patients is growing day by day. Music therapy plays a substantial part, as it is this unusual art form that expresses to the heart. It helps to elicit underlying sentiments which would have been the cause of the disease. Scholars are of the view that even though music has predominantly merits, it has some unfavorable effects too. Usually, music is exploited, and grandiose sound induces noise pollution. To generate the required vitality on stage, musicians often resort to drugs and other forms for additives. The young generation is stimulated by the headbanging performance of the

artistes and often get addicted to these habits. In a nutshell, the music paints a picture delight and if used decently it would be an affirmative art form, which no other sort of art can deliver. I assume music is the only art form that provides human beings with a sense of fulfillment and happiness. Without music, I suppose the world will become a gloomy place. (274 Words)

Some people advocate the death penalty for those who committed violent crimes. Others say that capital punishment is unacceptable in contemporary society. Discuss both the views and give your opinion. Proponents of capital punishment stressed the significance of this act against perpetrators of horrendous crimes while the antagonists of capital punishment claimed that this is inhumane. I admit that capital punishment is thought of as conclusive tyranny and must be denied. This essay will discuss the advantages as well as disadvantages of it and opinion of mine in the ensuing paragraphs. On the brighter side, several nations have shunned the death penalty due to some demerits. Primarily, this penalty is unchangeable, too absolute, and no room for additional testimony that may be unveiled. This may lead to people paying for offenses they did not commit. Secondly, capital punishment will demonstrate the supreme power of the state and the government cannot be presumed to provide a transparent due process. In recent years, there are numerous instances of hangings that later been found to be wrongfully executed. The authorization of the governments to execute capital punishment to its local people is an unlimited power to be held by politicians. Hence, the support for capital punishment must examine issues such as political connections and shady trials that may hinder the fair process. On the darker side, proponents say capital punishment is beneficial to keep the peace and order in society. Enthusiasts quote several examples of how this penalty instantly affects the offense rate. Presumably, providing a

convict the obligatory death sentence will deter possible offenders of thought of doing such crimes. Another instance is that capital punishment can accurately dispense fairness to those who have murdered and to end the eternal pain suffered by a victim's family, however, these grounds violates sacred teachings on the virtue of life as a gift of God that even a convict has the inviolable right to life. To put in a nutshell, although the death sentence has several merits, I consider that this extreme penalization has no impediment consequence on criminals. To add further, the pain of the victim's family does not completely fade with the offender's execution. (331 words) Many of the diseases which afflict people who do office jobs are the direct results of a sedentary lifestyle. Do you agree or disagree? Although indeed, an idle lifestyle is not desirable for people’s health, it would be far-fetched to recommend that doing an office job is undeviatingly accountable for the ailments which trouble office workers. Primarily, at the physical level, long hours of sitting in front of computers or working in a less moving posture may cause backaches and

problems in the spinal cord. Not only this, but it is also responsible for illnesses like increasing cholesterol level and obesity which is entirely responsible for other effects on the body. Secondly, a deskbound life may certainly lead to high blood pressure and heart-attacks, but people frequently balance the hours they spend sitting at a desk by joining health clubs where they can exercise or play sport. These clubs promote their members to observe their diet and to take part in physical activities. People who don’t want to register in these clubs will often take strolls during their lunch hour, or even job. The fact that they do these things means that they have a sedentary job, but not a sedentary lifestyle. Lastly, an indolent lifestyle is also held for mental stress. It compels people to live a stressful life as exercises make people relish life. People sitting for long hours for a job and working in the same position make their organs dormant and sluggish. The schedule makes them accustomed to living a life of that sort. Overall, it is difficult to state that the maladies which strike people in seated jobs don’t affect others, as there are specific audacious jobs like car racing as well as paragliding that are prone to some detrimental effects of their work. Indeed, the sitting job is safer than these adventurous jobs. It should be considered that exercises or physical activities are the only ways that could help us from the ill effects of a sedentary lifestyle. (314 words) A large number of deaths are caused by road accidents. Why so many road accidents occur? Provide suggestions that would help to reduce the number of road accidents. Road mishaps are accountable for the deaths of an ever-increasing number of people. The prime causes of these accidents are vehicle roadworthiness,

conditions of roads as well as human errors. In this essay, the causes will be examined and several solutions will be suggested in the following paragraphs before solutions to this problem can be found, it is necessary to examine the main causes of accidents. Vehicle roadworthiness, road conditions, and human error are some common reasons for accidents. Firstly, many vehicle collisions are caused by poor vehicle maintenance, For example, driving with faulty brakes or blunt tires which raises the halting time. Usual mechanical inspections would help decrease the number of faulty vehicles on the roads. Secondly, the conditions of the roads are equally held responsible for causing accidents. The extreme weather conditions such as Torrential rains, snow, and fog can cause accidents due to the slippery roads. Furthermore, narrow, convoluted roads and road surfaces that are in a dire need of repair add to the number of road casualties. A greater proportion of money needs to be allocated in fixing roads as well as provide clear road signs Lastly, accidents occur on the account of the driver’s carelessness. Drunk driving and excessive speed are frequently the cause of driver’s misjudging distance and loss of control of their vehicles. Other examples are drivers breaking signals while they take turns as well as overtaking without due care. Although these predicaments of human error are the most challenging to settle, advertising awareness campaigns have demonstrated promising results in educating drivers about road hazards. To conclude, although it is inescapable that fortuities will occur, there are measures to scale down their frequency. The government should frame rigorous vehicle tests and penalize thoughtless drivers more harshly. It is also indispensable to assign more funds to maintain and upgrade roads as well as to train drivers. By employing these steps, the road will be innocuous to every one. (324 words)

Animal species are becoming extinct due to human activities on land in the sea. What are the reasons and solutions? In this contemporary era, an ever-increasing population residing on this planet along with their actions have damaged biodiversity and on the account of it, there are several animal species on the verge of driving extinction. Deforestation and pollution are considered the prime culprits behind this happening. However, regulatory intrusions could contribute to alleviating the problem. At the outset, lumbering and contamination of the environment should be accredited for the vulnerability to the extermination of some species. Because of the overgrowing population in the world, human needs for land and many other essential sources to serve periodic and production activities scale proportionately. To satisfy their necessities, people ordinarily turn to extensive chopping down of trees which damages the habitats of animals. Without living space, the vanishing of some wildlife species is unavoidable. Other than this, the upsurging levels of pollution on land as well as under the sea due to heavy chemical disposal from factories. To exemplify, last year in Vietnam, the discharge of toxic industrial waste of Taiwanese steel plant called Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corp caused bass fish and marine creature deaths. Certain creatures die out when living in polluted water, and the affected eco-system may need ages to adequately redeem. Governments should take stringent action to protect wildlife. First of all, it is crucial to outcast logging of any purposes. All forest areas should be declared as national parks, and thus any individual or organization concerned in chopping trees down must be penalized harshly. To lessen

pollution, the government requires to introduce more poignant regulations on manufacturing industries. For instance, a factory could be forever banned if any illegal waste outflow is discovered. These two steps would be efficient in curbing dangerous human activities to the ecosystem, wildlife as well as marine life. To recapitulate, I anticipate that for personal interests, people are neglecting the crucial role of animal species in the ecosystem. Although human interventions are putting harm to habitats of wild animals, the authority could take on this matter by decreeing stricter laws upon stripping of trees and environmental pollution (348 Words)

Artists need a certain amount of freedom to develop their creativity. Some people think that artists should have total freedom to express any thoughts and ideas. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Art is the externalization of the skills of an artist. Consequently, there are the people who are in favor to grant complete autonomy to the artists; however, others oppose this idea unobstructedly. In my viewpoint, liberty is needed up to a greater extent but there should be proper monitoring on their work to evade any bothersome circumstance. To embark upon, there are numerous reasons why a chunk of people are in favor to give absolute liberty to artists. Primarily, if they are independent of any suppression that encourages them to uncover all the mundane concerns of society fearlessly. They unveil the flaws that are harmful and beseech the society to eradicate that. Any type of restrictions will not allow them to express their thoughts creatively. Secondly, these imaginative artists are the eyes of every country because of their exceptional talents; if they work freely, unquestionably, they have the potential to create a masterpiece that earns honor for every country across the globe. Nevertheless, I feel that absolute freedom may have an unfavorable effect on the individual as well as on society as many times artists are seen portraying objectionable picture, adding an anti-social slogan or message in the movies leads to communal riots and hurt sentiments of the people. These sorts of acts invitees chaotic situations and cost the life of the people. For instance, once in a film, some Hindu deities were shown, beggars. This movie has not only received heavy criticism from the Hindu society but also added fuel to the communal disharmony. Therefore they should be given constraint freedom. To recapitulate, although complete liberty is requisite for artists to explore their creativity yet the government should ascertain that the very act may not hurt the emotions of others. (291 words)

Fashion trends are difficult to follow these days and it’s widely believed that they primarily exist just to sell clothes. Some people believe that we shouldn’t follow them and that we should dress in what we like and feel comfortable in. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? Style today has gripped society as a whole. Individuals love to follow fashion as they feel associated with the present time. It's broadly accepted in the present materialistic world that the most recent unconventional fashion trends hold incredible noteworthiness. On the contrary, such trends are trusted to be set only in the quest for gains by huge designer companies. It appears that in recent times, individuals are changing their perspective about wearing garments for comfort and as an individual choice. In this essay, I concur that we should give more attention to personality and succor. Primarily, fashion designs endure as a sort of artistic expression of the designer. Although this may be real, unquestionably such designs steal individuality, once a course is set in place. More precisely, if everyone recognizes the latest color and design, it appears everyone is carrying the same. Secondly, fashion trends can likely seem extremely fashionable to the general public and people are influenced to wear them. Yet, it can be debated that the principal objective of dressing is for functional reasons. This is essential because costumes were conventionally worn to protect people from climatic conditions. Clothes are still worn fundamentally to keep people warm in winter and cool in summer. Lastly, fashion assuredly provides us a feeling of self-confidence and dignity in our appearance. While this is perfect. But, wasting a lot of money just for the sake of fashion is not prudent. In other words, buying fashionable clothes to follow fashion blindly proves to be expensive. To exemplify, purchasing every latest season’s fashion accessories will certainly blow the budget of countless young people. People may opt for affordable brands simply to look stylish without assessing the ill effects of it. Too much style sometimes perplexes people from the ultimate motive of clothes. To put it in a nutshell, there are multiple arguments in the favor of the dismissal of fashion trends which urges people to overlook their comfort zone as well as monetary value. It counts on the likes of and dislikes of people as they are better to judge considering their personality.

In Society, male sports are given more attention than female sports. Why is it so? Does this trend have a positive or negative impact on society? Though they are slowly dissipating, gender-based disparities are evident everywhere in society, including in sports. Ironically, sports are where talent, skill, and achievements should be the sole criteria for attention. After all, the rules, the formats, and the effort required for success are so very similar. In this essay, I will attempt to identify the reasons why we give more importance to men’s sports as compared to women’s, and why it is not good for society. The first reason why men’s sports are given more attention is rooted in the manner in which sporting events have evolved. In the early days, sports were all about brute strength, whether it was wrestling, or bullfighting or

sports using weapons such as sword fighting. Because of their physical build and consequent strength, men were naturally more adept at such sports. Thus the focus was on men and men alone. The second reason is related to the slow and gradual increase in women’s participation in sporting events; initially, this began with women from the more affluent, western world. In the 1900 Olympics, of the 1000 odd participants, only 22 were women. African American women, who have dominated women’s sports in the USA, had to wait for the abolition of slavery before they could freely compete with others. The first such woman to win Olympic gold was only in 1948 when Alice Coachman Davis won the high jump gold in the London Olympics. Thus, interest in women’s sports was limited in scope and appeal. The third reason is that the Sports Administration has been dominated by men. It is natural, but not necessarily correct, that these administrators pay more attention to men rather than women. As a result, there is more publicity, news coverage, and live telecast of men’s sporting events. Prize money offered for men and women has also differed, and it was only in 2007, after prolonged discussion that the world’s premier tennis tournament, Wimbledon, offered equal prize money to men and women. It is my view that such a bias in favor of men hurts society. Gender discrimination in any form is regressive and harmful. There are innumerable examples of women who have come through most trying circumstances to excel and achieve success; in this context, the name of Wilma Rudolph, a true legend comes to mind. Although she suffered from polio as a child, she was the first American woman to win three gold medals in a single Olympics, which was in Rome, 1960. Such stories motivate and inspire everyone and need to be shared and disseminated.
