We needed several devices to determine how many calories are burned while riding an electric bike. We had one Shengmilo-bikes electric bicycle, an Apple Watch that could monitor heart rate, and a willing rider. Our rider was equipped with a new RipCurrent Step-Through pedal assist 2 for hilly terrain. He tracked their activity for 45 mins to calculate calories burned. The ride burned 498 calories with an average heart beat of 106 beats per hour. These numbers are encouraging for anyone looking to increase their physical activity.
