Air Pollution Control (APC) Cyclonic Separation  A cyclonic separation is a method of removing particulates from an air, gas or liquid stream, without the use of filters, through vortex separation. When removing particulate matter from liquids, a hydrocyclone is used; while from gas, a gas cyclone is used. Rotational effects and gravity are used to separate mixtures of solids and fluids. The method can also be used to separate fine droplets of liquid from a gaseous stream. A high speed rotating (air)flow is established within a cylindrical or conical container called a cyclone. Air flows in a helical pattern, beginning at the top (wide end) of the cyclone and ending at the bottom (narrow) end before exiting the cyclone in a straight stream through the center of the cyclone and out the top. Larger (denser) particles in the rotating stream have too much inertia to follow the tight curve of the stream, and strike the outside wall, then fall to the bottom of the cyclone where they can be removed. In a conical system, as the rotating flow moves towards the narrow end of the cyclone, the rotational radius of the stream is reduced, thus separating smaller and smaller particles. The cyclone geometry, together with volumetric flow rate, defines the cut point of the cyclone. This is the size of particle that will be removed from the stream with a 50% efficiency. Particles larger than the cut point will be removed with a greater efficiency, and smaller particles with a lower efficiency as they separate with more difficulty or can be subject to re-entrainment when the air vortex reverses direction to move in direction of the outlet. Airflow diagram for Aerodyne cyclone in standard vertical position. Secondary air flow is injected to reduce wall abrasion. Airflow diagram for Aerodyne cyclone in horizontal position, an alternate design. Secondary air flow is injected to reduce wall abrasion, and to help move collected particulates to hopper for extraction. An alternative cyclone design uses a secondary air flow within the cyclone to keep the collected particles from striking the walls, to protect them from abrasion. The primary air flow containing the particulates enters from the bottom of the cyclone and is forced into spiral rotation by stationary spinner vanes. The secondary air flow enters from the top of the cyclone and moves downward toward the bottom, intercepting the particulate from the primary air. The secondary air flow also allows the collector to optionally be mounted horizontally, because it pushes the particulate toward the collection area, and does not rely solely on gravity to perform this function. Large scale cyclones are used in sawmills to remove sawdust from extracted air. Cyclones are also used in oil refineries to separate oils and gases, and in the cement industry as components of kiln preheaters. Cyclones are increasingly used in the household, as the core technology in bagless types of portable vacuum cleaners and central vacuum cleaners. Cyclones are also used in industrial and professional kitchen ventilation for separating the grease from the exhaust air in extraction hoods. Smaller cyclones are used to separate airborne particles for analysis. Some are small enough to be worn clipped to clothing, and are used to separate respirable particles for later analysis. Similar separators are used in the oil refining industry (e.g. for Fluid catalytic cracking) to achieve fast separation of the catalyst particles from the reacting gases and vapors. CR-Enviro provides engineering design, fabrication, installation, operation & maintenance of cyclonic separation.Engineering Solutions for Our Environment, Industry and CommunityProduct Catalogue | PT. Air Pollution Control (APC) Cyclonic Spray Water Scrubber Cyclonic spray scrubbers are an air pollution control technology. They use the features of both the dry cyclone and the spray chamber to remove pollutants from gas streams. Generally, the inlet gas enters the chamber tangentially, swirls through the chamber in a corkscrew motion, and exits. At the same time, liquid is sprayed inside the chamber. As the gas swirls around the chamber, pollutants are removed when they impact on liquid droplets, are thrown to the walls, and washed back down and out. Cyclonic scrubbers are generally low- to medium- energy devices, with pressure drops of 4 to 25 cm (1.5 to 10 in) of water. Commercially available designs include the irrigated cyclone scrubber and the cyclonic spray scrubber. In the irrigated cyclone as shown on the picture above, the inlet gas enters near the top of the scrubber into the water sprays. The gas is forced to swirl downward, then change directions, and return upward in a tighter spiral. The liquid droplets produced capture the pollutants, are eventually thrown to the side walls, and carried out of the collector. The “cleaned” gas leaves through the top of the chamber. The cyclonic spray scrubber forces the inlet gas up through the chamber from a bottom tangential entry. Liquid sprayed from nozzles on a center post (manifold) is directed toward the chamber walls and through the swirling gas. As in the irrigated cyclone, liquid captures the pollutant, is forced to the walls, and washes out. The “cleaned” gas continues upward, exiting through the straightening vanes at the top of the chamber. This type of technology is a part of the group of air pollution controls collectively referred to as wet scrubbers. CR-Enviro provides engineering design, fabrication, installation, operation & maintenance of cyclonic spray water scrubber.Engineering Solutions for Our Environment, Industry and CommunityProduct Catalogue | PT. Air Pollution Control (APC) Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR) Selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) is a method to lessen nitrogen oxide emissions in conventional power plants that burn biomass, waste and coal. The process involves injecting either ammonia or urea into the firebox of the boiler at a location where the flue gas is between 1,400 and 2,000 °F (760 and 1,090 °C) to react with the nitrogen oxides formed in the combustion process. The resulting product of the chemical redox reaction is molecular nitrogen (N2), carbon dioxide (CO2), and water (H2O). Urea (NH2CONH2) is easier to handle and store than the more dangerous ammonia (NH3). In the process it reacts like ammonia: NH2CONH2 + H2O -> 2NH3 + CO2 The reduction happens according to (simplified) 4 NO + 4 NH3 + O2 -> 4 N2 + 6 H2O The reaction mechanism itself involves NH2 radicals that attach to NO and then decompose. The reaction requires a sufficient reaction time within a certain temperature range, typically 1,400 and 2,000 °F (760 and 1,090 °C), to be effective. At lower temperatures the NO and the ammonia do not react. Ammonia that has not reacted is called ammonia slip and is undesirable, as the ammonia can react with other combustion species, such as sulfur trioxide (SO3), to form ammonium salts. At temperatures above 1093 °C ammonia decomposes: 4 NH3 + 5 O2 -> 4 NO + 6 H2O In that case NO is created instead of removed. A further complication is mixing. In general, more NO will form in the center and less near the walls, as the walls are cooler than the center. Thus, more ammonia must find its way to the center and less near the walls, otherwise NO in the center meets insufficient ammonia for reduction and excess ammonia near the walls slips through.Engineering Solutions for Our Environment, Industry and CommunityProduct Catalogue | PT. Though in theory selective non-catalytic reduction can achieve the same efficiency of about 90% as selective catalytic reduction (SCR), these practical constraints of temperature, time, and mixing often lead to worse results in practice. However, selective non-catalytic reduction has an economical advantage over selective catalytic reduction, as the cost of the catalyst is not there. The SNCR process involves injecting a reagent into the flue gas in the appropriate temperature window. The reagent reacts with NOx to form harmless nitrogen and water. The design, arrangement, and location of the reagent injectors are critical to the performance of the SNCR system. Our advanced technology utilizes variable droplet size control and automatic titling based on furnace temperature, to enhance the NOx reduction performance. Benefits 1. Low Total Cost of Ownership 2. High-efficiency NOx removal, providing 30%-40% reduction 3. Long life system, extending the burner lifetime 4. Energy efficient 5. Low energy consumption, ranging from 20-40kW 6. Easy to retrofit with minimal downtime Features 1. No by-products for disposal 2. Controls ammonia slip 3. Reagent storage tanks 4. Pumping and flow control 5. Reagent injection system 6. Boiler control interface and tuning CR-Enviro provides engineering design, fabrication, installation, operation & maintenance of Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR).Engineering Solutions for Our Environment, Industry and CommunityProduct Catalogue | PT. Liquid Waste TreatmentClarifier Clarifiers are settling tanks built with mechanical means for continuous removal of solids being deposited by sedimentation. A clarifier is generally used to remove solid particulates or suspended solids from liquid for clarification and (or) thickening. Concentrated impurities, discharged from thebottom of the tank are known as sludge, while the particlesthat float to the surface of the liquid are called scum.Sedimentation has been the mainstay process for solid-liquidseparation in the wastewater industry since its inception. CR-Enviro expertise in sedimentation and decades of experiencein the field have produced an extensive range of clarifiers thatare the most reliable and innovative in the market. As eachplant has specific needs, CR-Enviro can recommend andprovide reliable, robust mechanisms to ensure optimalperformance for any given application.Engineering Solutions for Our Environment, Industry and CommunityProduct Catalogue | PT. Liquid Waste Treatment Solvent Distillation Solvent distillation waste processing is to perform the recovery of the product wastes using a solvent distillation system. Solvent of the waste containing solvents contaminated with impurities solution, such as oil, water, coolant, paint, mud, and others. If the waste solvent is more than one type of solvent, then in the treatment process will takes several steps that depends on the number and Boiling Point of the solvent respectively. For example, if the solvent contained in the Alcohol and Toluene waste, then the first phase of the heating process using a maximum temperature of 70 oC. When completed, improved heating process can be up to a maximum of 111 oC. The second phase will be obtained the Alcohol and Toluene which has been separated. As for separating the solvent mixture towards the contaminant simultaneously (one stage) will required to use the fractional distillation system. However, it should be noted that with this equipment, we are able to separate the solvent mixture with impurities to be used again as a solvent in the fulfillment of their daily activities, for example a paint thinner, engine cleaner, etc. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCESS Basically, the distillation is a method of chemical solution separation by using the difference in speed or ease of evaporation (volatility) or also defined a separation techniques of chemicals solutions based on the differences in boiling point. In the process of distillation, the solution mixture is boiled so that it becomes steam, then steam is cooled back up into the liquid phase. Substances that have a lower boiling point will evaporate first, and substances that have a higher boiling point will condenses and evaporates when it reaches boiling point. The concept of this separation that we will apply to separate the impurities in the solvent distillation equipment. CR-Enviro is able to design, fabricate and install solvent distillation machine as per customer requirement.Engineering Solutions for Our Environment, Industry and CommunityProduct Catalogue | PT. BACKGROUNDThe Multisensor Systems MS3500-01 is a non-contact system for measuring Ammonia levels in themost arduous of conditions at the head of a waste water treatment facility. Its intended applicationsare to provide data for process control, with resultant reductions in energy and chemicals neededfor treatment, to allow monitoring of the re-circulation of high Ammonia loads and in processmonitoring. The system comprises a sampling chamber filled by a vacuum pump, a sensor head, pneumatics andan instrument which provides the user interfaces, communications and control functionality. The system is enclosed in a temperature controlled enclosure which can be positioned outsidewithout further components or cost.PRINCIPLE OF OPERATIONThe principle of operation is the measurement of headspace gases from a sample tank containingthe waste water to be measured. The MS3500 works by passing water through a sample tank as shown below. Sodium Hydroxide(NaOH) is added to increase the pH of the waste water, converting NH4+ to Ammonia. Through theuse of Henry’s Law the concentration of gases in the headspace is proportional to the concentrationof the substance in the water. The Ammonia and other volatiles in the waste water will pass into theheadspace above the waste water where it will be trapped. This will continue until equilibrium isreached.Engineering Solutions for Our Environment, Industry and CommunityProduct Catalogue | PT. Centra Rekayasa Enviro | www.cr-enviro.com | updated: Q3-2018Page 19 of 99

A sample of the headspace gases are then passed across sensors in the MS3500 sensor head whichrespond to the Ammonia in the headspace but reject other contaminants. This response is thenanalysed by the instrument and a concentration value is generated based upon the relationshipbetween the concentration present in the headspace and that in the water.CALIBRATIONFor the detailed calibration technique see MS3500 Operation and Maintenance Manual. Thetechnique is to present standards of Ammonia in water to the instrument. Calibration is then doneeither automatically by the instrument or can be done manually.Validation of systems in the field is achieved using the Multisensor Validation Kit which presents astandard concentration to the instrument.TYPICAL PERFORMANCE from 06/12 to 14/12 Lab results MS350070605040302010 0 13.12.17 14.12.1712.12.17 Typical response compared to measurement from a certified laboratory.Engineering Solutions for Our Environment, Industry and CommunityProduct Catalogue | PT. Solid Waste TreatmentRecovery Spent Bleaching Earth (SBE) Spent (remaining unused) bleaching earth is a bleaching process of solid waste in the refining of Crude Palm Oil (CPO). Total consumption of bleaching earth for bleaching CPO in Indonesia from year to year has increased along with the development of palm oil industry in Indonesia. There are 65 pieces of the edible cooking oil industry in Indonesia with a total annual production capacity of 9.9 million tonnes / year by 2006. Based on this, ifapproximately 40% of total production capacity of cooking oil using bleaching earth asabsorbent and dose of used bleaching earth is about 1% by weight of the CPO, it willproduce a spent bleaching earth waste as much as 39,600 tons / day or reached up to1.18 million tons / month. When referring to Government Regulation (PP) No. 101 of 2014 on the Management ofHazardous and Toxic Waste materials with waste code B-413 which stated that Spentbleaching earth (SBE) is including as hazardous waste (B3) category. Reasons to beconsidered in this regulation is because these materials contain residues of oil and acid.In this ordinance also stated that this waste can be used but must be done in accordancewith existing rules. The hazardous waste utilization effort is known as the 3R (Recycle,Reuse and Recovery). During this time there were some efforts to use conducted asreuse of spent bleaching earth as an adsorbent back on the process of bleaching CPOindustry, the recovery residue of CPO with porous metal filters will be added into the lowquality palm oil and its derivatives and the CPO recovery residue by solvent extractionand super critical fluid extraction will be converted into methyl ester, subsequent to theprocess of fractional distillation of solvent and oil can be separated, solvent will be reusedin the oil extraction process and is used as a biofuel feedstock. According to the study, thepercentage of oil residue CPO in the spent bleaching earth may reach 20-30% and subtlewithout special handling such as extraction. The rest of the remaining oil is what actuallystill potential if utilized.Engineering Solutions for Our Environment, Industry and CommunityProduct Catalogue | PT. The following is the flow diagram of the SBE recovery process: This process consists of two main parts: the extraction of oil and the activation of the Bleaching Earth component. Extraction and activation process for the batch except for a distillation column operated in continuous mode. In the extraction, Spent Bleaching Earth is incorporated into the extraction solvent tank stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. The ratio between the solvent and Spent Bleaching Earth is maintained at 4 milliliters of solvent for 1 gram of Spent Bleaching Earth. After 30 minutes of the extraction process, slurry is pumped into a filter press, the filtrate is collected in a holding tank and is pumped to a distillation column for the separation of solvent from oil. Oil from the distillation separation is sent to the oil storage tank and the solvent is recycled to the solvent tank. Hot air from the dryer to heat the slurry used in the distillation process. Bleaching Earth that has been dried and then transferred to storage tangka for subsequent activation process. At the activation of 10% wt sulfuric acid is used. Activation is done at the boiling point of the mixture (about 103 oC) in a jacketed reactor equipped with an agitator. The reactor is heated using a heat exchanger of the waste heat dryer. The ratio between water and Bleaching Earth (WCR) is maintained at a value of 5 milliliters of water to 1 gram Bleaching Earth remainder. After 20 minutes of reaction, the slurry is pumped through a filter press. The filtrate is then recycled to the tank residue acid solution. Cake disposed of filterpress then transferred to a rotary dryer where it is then dried using hot air. Gaseous Waste Treatment Vacuum Mercury Absorption Machine Mercury is still contained in an unimagined quantity of daily products such as fluorescent lamps, batteries, pesticides, and non-electronic measuring devices. All these products finally become wastes. Because mercury cannot be decomposed, it remains in the environment forever. Mercury waste should therefore be treated in an environmentally sound manner, following the Minamata Convention. All waste containing mercury is regulated as hazardous waste. There are many mercury-free alternative devices and compounds now available. Centra Rekayasa Enviro have successfully installed a vacuum mercury absorption machine at one of the largest Hazardous Waste Management company in East Java – Indonesia. This system is to optimize the mercury gas trap from spray trap into vacuum trap from used mercury lamp (TL type) waste management system. If your company is interested to fabricate Vacuum Mercury Absorption Machine for used mercury lamp waste management, please do not hesitate to contact us.Engineering Solutions for Our Environment, Industry and CommunityProduct Catalogue | PT.
