DUNES INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Volume 6 Issue 3 ACADEMIC SESSION 2019-2020 17—21Nov, 2019 Sneak Peek GLIMPSES OF THE MAJOR EVENTS Dunes International School initiated a collaborative learning program with Good Will Children Private School, Mussafah on Monday 18th November 2019. The objective of the program is to provide a range of opportunities to develop team building skills, initi- ate events, build partnership, reflect on strengths and areas of improvement , raise awareness of local and global issues and empower the student. Reminders  Periodic Test 2 will start from 24th November Portion and Schedule has been shared through portal.  Revision worksheets for PT2 have been upload- ed in the portal. Do regular revision of subjects and prepare well for the exam.  Winter vacation for students will starts from December 12 ,2019 onwards and school will reopen on 5th January 2020 Collaborative Learning

GLIMPSES OF THE MAJOR EVENTS ASSEMBLY ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE School assembly clarifies school activities and lays out program focusing on the co-curricular activities. It simply strengthens the way a school works. It is conducted with a complete and active participation of the students, and the teachers. Morning assembly meetings generally well planned and carefully conducted, putting a lot of light on various aspects of school activities and culture. Quiz is one of the good tool in assessment and progress in learning. It gives a clear idea about level of learning and grade level of students. Grade 10 G students conducted a quiz as special programme in their class assembly. All stu- dents participated and gifts were given to each correct answer.

\"Tajneed- The capsule Learning Moves\" The Tajneed leadership team of Dunes conducted team building games to the bus drivers. Lemon race and passing the ball were the two games conducted. The goal of this activity was to create an awareness about the importance of physical fitness to maintain a healthy life. It developed together- ness by encouraging collaboration and teamwork. The participants had lot of fun and learnt the skills of team spirit, cooperation and motivation. Tajneed team thanked the bus drivers for taking care of their safety in the bus. encouraging collaboration and teamwork. CAREER GUIDANCE Dunes International School always aims at preparing its students for life beyond academics and after grade 12. With this objective in mind a Career Guidance and Counselling workshop was organized in collaboration with Edu Germany for Grade XI -XII students. The expertise in the workshop was provided by Ms.Karthika who used various counseling techniques to provide valuable information to the students which will surely help the students in successfully making complex career decisions and choosing optimum courses which suit their interests as well as aptitudes.

SUBJECT CORNER HINDI Gr.9 Hindi - Student did Activity on Biography of MAHA DEV DESAAI, and through this activity they wrote about impotence of leadership. They also learnt about a leader can make a work environment better or worse. Strong leaders are essential for growth and success and taking strides to facilitate the necessary skills is an important step toward improved culture and productivity. PSYCHOLOGY ADJUSTMENT INVENTORY FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS(AISS) Adjustment is a key psychological marker in indicating the mental and emotional health of an individual. A well- ad- justed person is someone who engages in behaviours that are appropriate for the culture and given interpersonal situa- tion. Therefore, Grade 12 Psychology students conducted a psychological test called AISS developed by Sinha and Sinha. The purpose of this study was to investigate the adjustment level of secondary school students in relation to academic achievement and gender. Post the completion of this inventory ,it was understood that steps need to be taken in order to support students in this regard and establishing a harmonious relationships in all context.

SUBJECT CORNER Four students (two per junior and senior categories) from Dunes International School partici- pated in Emirates NBD poetry for all competition organized by Emirates Airline Festival of Lit- erature on 19th Novemberv2019. We wish them luck as the school awaits for the results.

SUBJECT CORNER ACCOUNTANCY Students of grade11 discussed the adjustment of various items of trial balance on the financial statement. They analysed and interpreted the adjustment and prepared trading, profit and loss a/c and balance sheet from the trial balance given. Students of 12B prepared ledger accounts with an effect of admission of a new partner in the firm. They calculated the proportionate capital to be brought in by the new partner. They also showed the distribution of premium for goodwill. CHEMISTRY Visual Learning Students learned the discovery of subatomic particle and they were able to predict the models of atom.

SUBJECT CORNER PHYSICS Comparing the emf of batteries using Finding the focal length of potentiometer convex lens. Mathematics Students of grade 10 are preparing for CBSE board examina- tions. Solving sample papers help then familiarize with the pattern of question paper and also practice time manage-

SUBJECT CORNER SOCIAL SCIENCE Topic: Comparison of Election system of UAE and other countries. Grade 9 students prepared a collage comparing the election system of UAE and other countries. The ob- jective was to achieve Abu Dhabi 2030 vision of being confident local and global citizen. Preparation of collage

SUBJECT CORNER COMPUTER SCIENCE Students were engaged in learning coding concept through an educational game- Rapid Router, which made learning to code made more easier and had great fun.

Tell them you don't want them to take part in mistreating another student at any level, however small. Do not allow any type of bullying at home and deal firmly with any attempts by siblings to bully one another. Emphasize seeing things from another's point of view and the rights of others not to be mistreated. Assist them to develop effective ways of dealing with fear and anger instead of inter- nalizing their feelings, taking them out on others or losing face in front of the peer group by allowing them to spill over.
