Winter vacation for stu- dents will starts from December 12 ,2019 on- wards and school will reopen on 5th January 2020 Special Program Theme: Mime and Song – Cooperation To build positive relationships among students - Important for creating a learning community that values diversity. Provide experiences that develop both good learning skills and social skills. Grade 7- G – girls of the Middle School put up an informative and entertaining mime and song based on the Cooperation. Mime is important because it is an effective way of encouraging students to develop their acting skills in terms of body language (posture, movements, gestures, etc.) and for them to gain a greater awareness of its importance as a form of communication. Teaching values is a vital part of raising children. The students learned about the importance of Cooperation and how to cooperate and help each other. Co- operation is important because it allows people and groups to work together to achieve a common goal or derive mutual benefits.
Dunes International School initiated a col- laborative learning program with Good Will Children Private School, Mussafah on Mon- day 18th November 2019. The objective of the program is to provide a range of oppor- tunities to develop team building skills, ini- tiate events, build partnership, reflect on strengths and areas of improvement , raise awareness of local and global issues and empower the student.
\"Tajneed- The capsule Learning Moves\" The Tajneed leadership team of Dunes con- ducted team building games to the bus driv- ers. Lemon race and passing the ball were the two games conducted. The goal of this activity was to create an awareness about the importance of physical fitness to main- tain a healthy life. It developed togetherness by encouraging collaboration and teamwork. The participants had lot of fun and learnt the skills of team spirit, cooperation and motiva- tion. Tajneed team thanked the bus drivers for taking care of their safety in the bus.
So here are our Little Stars with ostentatious results in the Inter-School Talent Festival organized by ADIS Al Wathba aiming at the students’ creativity in the field of Singing, Art, Story telling , and Dance acts. Our little genius came up with outstanding results by winning prizes in Action Song, Story time,Group Dance, and Dancing Toes. Dunes International School was also awarded with “Little Ge- nius Ever Rolling Trophy”. Congratulations to all the little stars of DUNES INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL....
Poetry has tremendous appeal for children and it is the best way of exciting their love of the language. It lays the foundation for the appreciation of the beauty of language. It educates their emotions and enhances their power of imagination. The rhythm of poetry helps the students to acquire natural speech rhythm. Poetry is taught for sheer pleasure and enjoyment. It further lays the foundation for an adequate ap- preciation of English poetry. Four students (two in junior and senior categories) from Dunes International School participated in Emirates NBD poetry for all competition organized by Emirates Airline Festival of Literature on the 19th Nov, 2019. We wish them good luck as the school awaits for the results.
Recreational Game: The game is a recreational activity involving one or several participants. It's role to provide satisfaction and entertainment to players . Grade 7 student played recreational game. Through this game students were pursued variously for enjoyment, exercise, challenge, camaraderie, spiritual renewal, and an oppor- tunity to partake in nature.
Grade 7 student presented the topic hu- man settlement pattern and its im- portance by using ICT. Human Settle- ment is a form of human habitation which ranges from a single dwelling to large city. The study of human settle- ments is basic to human geography be- cause the form of settlement in any re- gion reflects human relationship with the environment. Through this presentation students learned about the different types of settlement and its importance.
Grade 8-Understanding the Judicial System Role-playing is the changing of one's behaviour to assume a role, either unconsciously to fill a social role, or consciously to act out an adopted role. The students of 8G participated in a role play in which they were able to identify the rel- evant facts, the issues, the court’s holdings, the court’s reasoning, and the rules of law set out in court decisions.
READING SKILLS: Grade 8 students presented a Reading skill activity where children learnt to read with correct pronunciation and expression. The activity helped the students to express their ideas using a wide range of vocabulary in Hindi.
Speaking is key to all effective communication and if students mastered this skill they will automatically de- velop the quality of responding appropriately. Grade 7 students did a speaking skill activity where children learn to speak with correct pronunciation and expression. Comprehendre et repondre. Language learning is an integrated process. All three strands (Oral Language, Reading and Writing) are interre- lated, interdependent and inextricably linked. For this task we will focus on the Reading strand, while acknowl- edging that Oral Language and Writing are also an integral part of that strand. The students of grade 6 were given a variety of texts to identify and differentiate the vocabulary and grammar used in the different texts. The students were involved in finding the meaning of the text and also solving the related questions in an enthusiastic way.
Investigation on shadows Students of grade 6 predicted how a shadow will change if the position and angle of the light source changes. They carried out an experiment about how a shadow will change its shape when the distance from the object and source of light changes. They recorded the observations and made a graph to reinforce the concept that when the object is closer to the source of light , the length of the shadow increases and becomes bigger .
Most effective learning techniques, mind mapping It help students take better notes, improve comprehension, and foster creativity. mind mapping is a visual form of note taking that offers an overview of a topic and its complex infor- mation, allowing students to comprehend, create new ideas and build connections. Through the use of colors, images and words, mind mapping encourages students to begin with a central idea and expand outward to more in-depth sub-topics. Grade 8 students exhibit their mind mapping of the novel Ham- let with different idea, concept, or problem which Facilitate better understanding of relationships and connections between ideas and concepts which makes it easy to communicate new ideas and thought processes.
Writing skills are an important part of communication. Good writing skills allow you to communicate your message with clarity and ease to a far larger audience . Every writer has its own style, tone and skill to deliver a message in his/her own interesting ways. Grade 8 students enhanced their writing skills by writing a paragraph on Hazaa al Mansouri who has created a history by landing on scape.
