Moldiv (Tablet/SmartPhone Edition) Grid Based Digital Collages V 2.0 1. What is Moldiv & how do I get familiarized? Moldiv is an android, grid-based, photo collaging app. You can put your photos inside grid templates! There are gazillions of them. Chose the one you like. The best way to get going with “digital collaging” is to have a fun “play session” - Moldiv is unbelievably easy to use, and, with this guide, you will get even more out of it. Let's get going. ;) 2. Digital Collaging with Moldiv (launch, photo(s) & grid select) 1. Tap on your Moldiv icon, you know the drill !!! ;) --> 2. The “Moldiv” icon will spin and you will be presented with gazillions of grids (see image below) 3. Scroll through the pages of grids by sliding your finger along (as indicated in class 1) until you find a grid that you want to work with (or see image above) Digital Textiles: Pixlr-express Mirror/Flip | www.clp.org.uk pp. 1 of 11

4. Tap on your preferred “grid” - it will turn orange and load on your work screen (see third image above in (2)) 5. The grid will prompt you with a flashing “Tap Here” speech bubble in black (see image below) 6. Tap the “grid” segment to show your image/photo source options – either “Gallery” or “Camera”. You now know how these options work now from lesson 1 using pixlr-express & pixlr-omatic (see 2nd image above). 7. “Tap” on the image source choice. We will work with gallery first (see image 2, above in (5)) 8. You can “Tap” and select multiple images in the image selection window to fill the grid in (see images below) 9. 10. You are taken back to your work screen with the images filling your grid (see image below) Hurrah! You just filled in your first grid “as is” ;) 3. Tweaking the “grid lines” for your grid-collage 1. Grid-icon is highlighted in orange - below your grid (see image below) 2. Above highlighted “Grid-icon” you will see “Frame Adjust” option. (see image above) 3. Tap the “Frame Adjust” option to “tweak” your frame (see image above in (1)) Digital Textiles: Pixlr-express Mirror/Flip | www.clp.org.uk pp. 3 of 11

4. The “Frame Adjust” screen presents you with your grid with “orange dots” (see image below) 5. “Slide the orange dots” - by holding them and moving them in a desired direction (see image above) 6. Your “grid lines” shift in response to your finger movements 7. When you are happy with the frame “adjustments” you are ready for the next step.... Hurrah! You just tweaked your first grid “lines” ;) … next... 4. Tweaking the “proportions of your grid” 1. 2. When you are happy with the “frame proportions” move onto the next option.... Hurrah! You just tweaked the “proportions” of your first grid ;) … next... 5. Tweaking your grid “From straight to rounded” 1. Find the horizontal slider in row 2 on the left-hand side, (see image below) 2. Play with the “slider” until you find a degree of “roundness” you are happy with (see image above) Hurrah! You just tweaked the “roundness” of your grid elements ;) … next... 6. Tweaking the “margin” of the outside edge of your grid-base 1. Find the second (2nd) horizontal slider in row 2 on the right-hand side (see image below). 2. Play with the “slider” until you find a degree of “margin” you are happy with (see image above) Hurrah! You just tweaked the “margin” of your grid ;) … next... 7. “Shadow-ing” your grid elements 1. Find the first (1st) horizontal slider in row 3 on the left-hand side (see image below). 2. Play with the “slider” until you find a degree of “shadowing” you are happy with (see image above) Hurrah! You just tweaked the “shadowing” of your grid elements ;) … next... 8. Tweaking the “spacing” between your grid elements 1. Find the second (2nd) horizontal slider in row 3 on the right-hand side (see image below). 2. Play with the “slider” until you find the degree of “spacing” you are happy with (see image above). 3. When you are happy with the “spacing between frame elements”, tap onto the background (any side of the grid) to return to your main screen. Hurrah! You just tweaked the “spacing” of your grid elements ;) … next... 9. Adding & tweaking Text for your “grid” 1. In your main screen and to the right of the “Frame” icon you will see a letter “T” (see image below) 2. “Tap” the letter “T” (in white) icon to launch the “Text” element of Moldiv (see image above) 3. The “keyboard” icon will be “highlighted in orange” - 1st icon on the horizontal bar under the chosen image/picture (see image below) and the “tablet keyboard will pop-up” 4. “Type your desired text/message/phrase” and when you are happy..... 5. “Tap” the next icon to the right “Aa” - to change fonts (see image below) Digital Textiles: Pixlr-express Mirror/Flip | www.clp.org.uk pp. 7 of 11

6. “The font library” will pop underneath – select one font that you like (see image below) 7. “Colour your font” - by tapping on the next icon along, it looks like a flat rainbow in a circle (see image below) 8. Select a “uniform fill” colour of your choice to fill your font with (see image below) 9. 10. Tap the “S” icon to find a “Shadowing” & “Outline” preset to apply to your text. This is the last parameter we will play with (see image below) 11. Once you are happy with your choice, tap the “OK” button on the same horizontal navigation bar where the “S” icon lives – it is in the extreme right-hand side (see image above (10)). 12. You will be taken back to the main window (see image below (13)) 13. You can tap on your new “Text” to: select it, twist it with your thumb and index finger to change its angle, pinch to shrink it, and reverse “pinch” to grow/expand your text (see images below) Hurrah! 10. Tweak “image sizes” within your finalized grid elements Each image that is contained within a “grid element”/”grid box” can be presented as you like by moving it within its frame and growing it or shrinking it accordingly. This section deals with that. 1. Tap inside the “grid element”/”grid box” element you want to work with 2. If a pop-up appears, tap again within the same “grid element”/”grid box” element to get rid of it. You can now grow it, shrink it and move it round 3. When you are happy repeat steps 1-2 for the other images 4. Once you are happy, it is time to “save your work” Hurrah! You just tweaked the “image sizes & other image pareameters” of your grid elements ;) … next... 11. Save your work 1. To “Save” your work tap the “Save” icon (see image below) 2. A “pop-up window” will appear, providing you various “save options” (from top-to- bottom): Gallery, Other Apps, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Flickr. 3. Tap Gallery 1st – to save to the gallery & select “Maximum” (see image below) 4. Your Moldiv collage is saved to the Gallery 5. You will be alerted about the “save in progress” and “successfully saved” - to the gallery 6. Remove “Advertisement Pop ups” by tapping the “X” on the “top right-hand side of the advert”. 7. To save to “Other Apps”Tap the “Save” icon again as in steps 1-2, but this time you want to go for the “Other Apps” option. 8. Moldiv then proceeds to save your image to the “Moldiv folder” and... 9. An “Other Apps” pop-up window appears 10. Tap on “Pixlr Express” icon Digital Textiles: Pixlr-express Mirror/Flip | www.clp.org.uk pp. 10 of 11

11. “Pixlr express” is launched and your Moldiv collage is in “Pixlr express” ready to be flipped/mirrored/reversed (see pixlr express tutorial on flipping an image) Hurrah! You just “saved” your grid collage to: Moldiv, image library & Other Apps You are All Done – Your Grid collage is ready to be mirrored for print ;) Hurrah! - well done you ;) What can yo do now?...  You can now “create a grid-based digital collage” with Moldiv – so it can be flipped in Pixlr-express for it to be ready for printing on the special transfer paper.
