Introduction Aphrodite. Goddess of beauty. The western world’s standard of beauty for thousands of years. The merest mention of her name brings to mind visions of the goddess rising from the sea on a shell, cherubs attending to her every need. Long hair flowing in the breeze, strategically placed fabric to cover up the more interesting body parts. Her face, the visage of Helen, the face that launched a thousand ships. In the spring of 2019, I was hired to work a bit of family magick. I went into light meditation and heard the name \"Aphrodite\". I knew of her based upon my research for my book series, “The Furies”, the goddess who was birthed by the same event that birthed the Furies. I happened to find a decent summoning prayer and I reached out. I felt her energy at first. A warmth. It was a gentle energy that flowed through the room. Then I became aware of her voice, smooth and somewhat deep. Again, gentle like her energy. She advised me on what to offer and what kind of magick I could work to assist my client. The magick was to reunite a man with his estranged wife. But ONLY after he'd done some self-work on himself. I got back to my client and he assured me that he had quit drinking and was in anger management. I advised him that this was the only way Aphrodite would work the magick for him. I then altered the prayer as she requested and set up to perform the ritual. A Friday, the day devoted to matters of love and family. While I had the circle cast, I happened to start a gold candle for myself. Two things happened: The man's wife agreed to a meeting and they eventually
got back together. Then my gold candle worked to bring me a new, well-paying client. I went to thank my usual patron for the client and I was told it was Aphrodite's magick, not his. Although I had closed that part of the ritual, she was still around and granted that request as well. My patron deity said that Aphrodite was a goddess and had magick for all areas, not JUST love and sex. With that statement, I gave Aphrodite an offering and then she gave me an idea. This book. Twelve rituals that are aimed at self-improvement, artists’ inspiration, and health and wealth, and attracting to you a soul-mate. But first, Aphrodite's origins. No story is complete without an origin story. And hers is unique.
Origins –––––––– Aphrodite's origins all depends on who you are reading. Hesiod, one of the earliest Greek poets, has her origin story as follows: Long before the Olympians ruled the world, the primal god, Uranus, reigned with his wife Gaia, the goddess of the earth. Uranus was a rotten bastard and he hated his children, so he hid them in the depths of the earth, until Gaia, loathing her husband, devised a plan with her son Cronus. She equipped her son with a sickle and, when Uranus next came to sleep with Gaia, Cronus chopped off his genitals. The severed parts fell into the ocean and sea foam enveloped them. From this foam emerged the goddess Aphrodite. From the blood, the Furies were born. It is a bit more complicated than this. I used Hesiod's myth to explain who the Furies are when I wrote my Furies books. I was imagining the three Furies standing in knee-deep water, all wet and haggard as they watched Aphrodite rise from the surf, surrounded by cherubs draping her with strategically placed ribbons of cloth. As I looked into the goddess’ actual beginnings, I was led to the earliest gods in Mesopotamia, and that culture worshipped a goddess a lot like Aphrodite, namely Inanna/Ishtar. I looked at the Canaanites, and saw Astarte. It appears the goddess was worshipped all through the early civilizations in this region. The variations of Aphrodite are numerous, with multiple versions encountered all based upon who you were reading. For example, Homer gave Aphrodite's origin story as being the daughter of Zeus and Dione.
Some of her earlier temples are in the cities of Cytherea and Cyprus, with the temple in Cyprus dating back to 1200 B.C.E. I won't even go into how Plato saw Aphrodite, as both a daughter of Uranus and of Zeus, depending on your social status. Classical mythology also suggests that Aphrodite was indirectly responsible for the Trojan War. This is because Paris chose Aphrodite as the winner of the golden apple over Athena and Hera in a goddess beauty contest after Aphrodite promised him the most beautiful woman in the world – Helen. She also intervened in the war a few times, most famously to save Aeneas and to help Ares. The Aphrodite we know now actually resulted from a syncretism, or merging, between a Greek deity and a fertility goddess of many names from the east. This can be seen in the myth of Aphrodite and Adonis. In this tragic romantic tale, Aphrodite falls in love with a mortal named Adonis, but he is killed by a boar's tusk while hunting. Shakespeare wrote a version of this story and so did the Roman poet Ovid in the first century AD, but its roots are much older than these two writers. In ancient Mesopotamia, the goddess was called Inanna and her mortal lover was Dumuzi. Just as the goddess' name varies by region, Dumuzi has his other epithet \"Adonis.\" This name has Semitic roots, and it is the same as the invocation \"oh my lord,\" or adonai in Hebrew. This tragic love story between the great goddess and the ill-fated mortal man appears in many cultures throughout the Middle East, and attests to Aphrodite's origins outside of Greece. In my channeling of the goddess, I was given a rough timeline in our current history for her progression from fertility deity in Mesopotamia then into Egypt possibly as Isis. It certainly appears to be the being I perceive as Aphrodite. So, on one occasion, I asked one of my personal guides, a young woman I call \"Avatar\" to guide me into prehistory and allow me to meet Aphrodite in a previous civilization. It was at this point I found myself next to several human spirits, once of which was Apollo, another was Hermes, and finally, Aphrodite. All were known as \"Immortal Masters\" during the time of the Lemurian period. When this civilization collapsed, the three beings assisted in creating the civilization of Atlantis.
All three beings are still with us, as well as a host of other beings we know as gods. Now, on to Aphrodite's magick!
Materials Needed for the Rituals The following materials will be needed to conduct the rituals in this book. Several white candles. I personally use the large 3x6 candles found at most any department store, but they can also be found online. A statue or other work of art that depicts Aphrodite, or a symbol that stands for the Goddess. There is a sigil or symbol I have made that will work quite well and it's at the end of this book. Feel free to print it and use it. Candles in the color that matches your desire. I use small chime candles found on just about everywhere. There is a list of colors and their uses in magick at the end of the book. An incense burner, and small charcoal discs. Barring this, find pure incense cones or sticks. It helps to set the \"mood\" for working with Aphrodite. Organic Frankincense. Some rituals will also use different incenses, but I always keep a bag of frankincense on hand, as it's a great all-purpose incense to use. An offering bowl. A small fire proof bowl or vessel. A small table to serve as your altar. Pen and paper “Magick Ink” (See Resources at the end of this book) You can use crystals and other items which will enhance your focus during the rituals. I personally use a triple-moon altar cloth and I usually light four or more white candles when calling upon Apollo. I advise placing the small chime candles into a larger heavy glass candle holder,
lining it with foil to make clean up easier. The foil also serves to reflect the candle's energies. Some feels this doubles the power of the candle.
Ritual Preparations There isn't a lot of preparation one needs before asking Aphrodite to appear and listen to your petition. I'll go over the basic steps needed to prepare for your ritual. The Rituals in this book The rituals all follow a basic format. A list of suggested tools and props are given, plus a suggestion of when is best to perform the ritual. Please note – most of these rituals can be worked at any time, as long as you have the necessary quiet and can work without being disturbed. Candles and incense are a suggestion. One can also use essential oils to purify your space, as well as modern LED candles if candles can’t be burned safely in your situation. The space can be anyplace! I used to work my magick on a TV tray table in my bedroom, setting up only when it was needed. An elaborate altar set-up is not required. The bits where you speak out loud are all in bold. This should assist you in quickly getting to the spoken parts of a particular ritual. At a bare minimum, have Aphrodite’s sigil on hand for all rituals. All offerings are left on her sigil for at least 24 hours. After which, simply place the offering outside somewhere. Mindset and Alpha in Ritual In all the rituals that follow – it is important to get into the proper mindset and go into a slight trance state. Many call this state \"Alpha\". It’s a state in which you are slightly relaxed and in a dreamy state mentally. It's accomplished by sitting still, and slightly relaxing your body. I usually relax my feet and legs, then allow the relaxation to travel up my body and across my
head. This then allows you to tune into the subtle energies associated with working magick and calling forth beings, gods, goddesses, and other assorted energies. There is a short cut to getting to this state. By using a meditation audio to place you into alpha, you can then program your mind to drop into alpha by performing a small exercise. I will tell myself that when I squeeze my right thumb between my fingers, I will easily enter alpha. Do this a few times and then getting into alpha while in ritual is easy and effective. Your mindset going into a ritual is very important. Go into this with the idea the goddess will join with you and assist you in drawing to you the desired result. Once the ritual is over, go about your normal routine and try to put it out of your mind. This is easier said than done! But, try it anyway. It only delays the workings of the goddess when you constantly ask yourself or the goddess when the results will appear. In money magick, often you will get an immediate result, such as a small amount of money appearing. Trust that the magik is still working, as this is not the end manifestation, but the \"pre-dinner appetizer\" that was just dropped off by the food server. Your main manifestation is still be prepared and will arrive in your reality shortly. How long to wait for results before working the ritual again? I advise all my students to allow at least 45 days. Things have to be lined up to appear in your reality, especially if this involves other people, such as attracting a soul mate or lover. The Petition
This is the most important aspect of working ANY magick. If you only have a vague idea of what is it you desire, do not be surprised if the Goddess generates vague results. The biggest obstacle to success in magick is not knowing what you really want. If you are wanting a lover (a good example), then focus on personality traits and let the goddess find the correct person without placing a lot of obstacles in her way. If you need a blast of extra money, be prepared to take advantage of the opportunities the Gods and Goddesses will bring to you. Once you know what it is that you wish to manifest in your life, you now need to put it into words, into a petition to read to the Goddess. It is always phrased as \"I ask that....\" Such as \"I ask that you bring to me five thousand dollars\". Gods and Goddesses are highly intelligent beings and they do not wish us any harm, so they will bring the desire to you without harming anyone or anything. (This doesn't work for ALL Gods). Trust that Aphrodite will bring you what you desire in the most loving way possible. A good template for a petition is as follows; \"Goddess Aphrodite, I ask that you join with me and bring to me ____________, in that I desire _________________. I ask that you please bring this to me quickly, and that you accept this humble offering of _____________ in gratitude for your kind assistance.\" Magick Ink With each ritual, I mention magick ink for writing your petition. This ink can be ANY type of ink, such as fountain pen ink, or drawing ink. It should only be used for magical purposes, and not used for everyday writing. Some suggest making your own ink, but I find I get good results by simply using bottled ink. It's good form and looks nice when you use a quill with a modern nib to write
your petitions, and by makes the act of writing a petition a special occasion. Another way is to order some magick ink from a magik store, making sure it's actual magick ink and not some ink used by stage magicians. I will give links to sources at the end of this book. Aphrodite Icon I happen to have a 11\" tall white statue of Aphrodite I use in rituals. I have also included a custom image (or sigil) for her at the back of this book. I created this sigil, and the small symbols around the edge are glyphs associated with her powers and her name is at the bottom in Greek. You can copy this, or download a printable version on my website at https://davepsychic.com/aphrodite.jpg Ritual Space No ritual is complete without making sure you have a proper ritual space planned. I use my garage. You can use a corner in a room, bedroom, or a space outdoors where you will not be disturbed. I use a small task table for my altar, covered with a small altar cloth, and laid out in a pattern that works well for me. How I do this is just a suggestion – you may find it better to layout your altar in a different manner. I have Aphrodite's statue in the center at the back, as if she's observing the ritual. To the sides at the edge are the two white candles used in each ritual. I place the incense to Aphrodite's right. The color ritual candle to her left. The offering goes at the foot of the statue (or on top of the printed sigil) Casting the Circle
The circle is less for protection than it is for creating a sacred temple space for our communion with Aphrodite. I simply walk around the altar with my right forefinger pointed at the ground, while imaging a line of white or gold light appearing to create the sacred space. Another method is to use the Lesser Banishing of the Pentagram, a version of which is located at the end of this book.
Read this First If you are the type to jump ahead to the rituals, at least read this chapter first so you can be fully prepared for working with the goddess. Mentally, you have to be able to KNOW what it is that you are wanting. Forget the HOW - just know that Aphrodite is a highly intelligent being and will ALWAYS bring you what you petition for, unless there are reasons she is aware of to deny the petition. This could be serious \"free-will\" violations, your desire might impinge on another's free will (in the case of love or sex spells) She will bring you back together with your ex, but only if the behavior that led to the separation is changed. Don't be surprised if you get her refusing to grant the petition if you haven't changed (or the target hasn't changed) Mindset: Very important. Know what you truly want, forget the HOW and focus on the results. Then, once the petition is accepted, step back, and detach from the results. This detachment is the hardest part of all magick. (This is why any magick I work for others does perform quite well, as long as the client forgets I worked the magick!) A lot of the rituals are similar, but there are crucial differences. Any ritual can be modified to fit other circumstances, and a lot of the props I add are optional. At least cleanse your space, have the offering and petition, and one candle. Timing is also not as critical as many believe. Magick can be worked at any time and the Goddess will respond under most any circumstances.
The Rituals
Ritual for Emotional Wellbeing This ritual is offered up to allow you to begin to heal after emotional trauma. It is designed to bring those emotions to the surface, to allow you to cast them out of your body and begin the healing process. This ritual, in no way, is designed to replace professional help. Do seek counseling or therapy if you are experiencing PTSD or Depression. Make sure you will not be disturbed and that you can cry out loud or express your emotions easily without disturbing anyone else. Best if performed Friday evening before midnight (local time) Orient your altar so that it faces *north* Altar items: • Image of the goddess • offering bowl • fireproof bowl • 2 candles (white or white & black) • One Light blue or Pink candle. • Incense (floral or plain Frankincense) • Offerings (heavy cream or milk & honey) • Lavender oil • Tissues or other cloth to wipe your tears. • The petition written out in magik ink*.
Light a candle. Douse the room's light, cast the circle, breathe, and calm yourself. Stand facing your altar (and facing north). Light the other candle. Start the incense. Place a few small drops of the lavender oil on the petition and candle. Invocation of Aphrodite: Goddess Aphrodite! The embodiment of love and beauty! You have been known by many names: Aphrodite! Venus! And others! As Venus, you rule the evening skies and the morning skies. Fly down from Mount Olympus and join with me this evening! Join with me, in my soul and in my heart! I ask that you be present and listen to my request. At this point, take a moment. Breathe. Read your petition aloud. Reach out and try to feel the goddess' presence. Now, release your emotions, allow yourself to bring up all suppressed emotions inside. Allow the Goddess to comfort you and assist you in purging the trauma. Goddess Aphrodite! Please accept this humble offering, given freely to you in gratitude for listening to my request! Place the offering near or on top of her sigil. Goddess Aphrodite! Please bless this candle to allow me to begin healing from the trauma!
Now, light the light blue or pink candle. Meditate on seeking out the better emotions and feel your emotional body begin to heal. When this is done and when you feel you have meditated long enough on the issue, speak the following words to allow the Goddess to depart: Goddess Aphrodite! I grant you leave to depart, having heard my petition. I thank you and wish you speed on your return journey to Mount Olympus. At this point, meditate a moment, then set the petition on fire, holding it over the fire proof bowl. After it has finished burning to ash, stir the ashes to make sure it has completely been reduced to ash, then take the ashes outside and cast them into nature (like a bush or grass). The ritual is done. Extinguish the candles, except for the light blue or pink candle. Allow it to burn out, SAFELY. Allow the incense to completely burn.
Artist and Creative Inspiration Inspiring artists and other creatives are another untapped power of Aphrodite. Once the ritual is completed, you should stay in a meditative state to begin to receive subtle guidance and inspiration from the Goddess. Best if performed Friday evening before midnight (local time) Orient your altar so that it faces *north* Altar items: • Image of the goddess • offering bowl • fireproof bowl • 2 candles (white or white & black) • One dark blue candle to represent your desire • Incense (floral or plain Frankincense) • Offerings (heavy cream or milk & honey) • The petition written out in magik ink. Light a candle. Douse the room's light, cast the circle, breathe, and calm yourself. Stand facing your altar (and facing north). Light the other candle. Start the incense. Invocation of Aphrodite: Goddess Aphrodite! The embodiment of love and beauty!

Ritual for Healthy Weight Aphrodite is the perfect goddess for addressing health issues. In this section, I present three rituals which use her powers to assist you in obtaining and maintaining a healthy body. Since people have varying views on what is and what is not a healthy weight, this ritual doesn't ask Aphrodite to assist you in losing weight, but instead it asks her to assist you in maintaining a healthy weight that is right for you. She will assist you in making better food choices and limiting portion size. Since a healthy weight is achieved using changes in diet and exercise, this ritual will supply a template for the petition as well. In this, look to offer Aphrodite items that represent health, such as milk, raw sugar, fresh fruit. Once the offering has set next to Aphrodite's image for 24 hours, discard the offering by placing it in nature, such as a garden or near shrubbery. More items to have near you are images of people who are at a healthy weight, and who are engaged in activities such as walking or jogging, or other exercises. Best if performed Friday at any time of the day. Orient your altar so that it faces *north* Altar items: • Image of the goddess • offering bowl • fireproof bowl • 2 candles (white or white & black) • One green candle to represent your desire.
• Incense (floral or plain Frankincense) • Offerings (as suggested in above) • The petition written out in magik ink. Light a candle. Douse the room's light, cast the circle, breathe, and calm yourself. Stand facing your altar (and facing north). Light the other candle. Start the incense. Invocation of Aphrodite: Goddess Aphrodite! The embodiment of love and beauty! You have been known by many names: Aphrodite! Venus! And others! As Venus, you rule the evening skies and the morning skies. Fly down from Mount Olympus and join with me this evening! Join with me, in my soul and in my heart! I ask that you be present and listen to my request. Goddess Aphrodite! Please bless this candle to bring me my desire! Now, light the green candle. Now, petition the goddess as follows: Goddess Aphrodite, please assist me in making the choices I need to make to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight. I ask that you guide my mind and body to get out and exercise, making my entire body fit as possible.
(Plus, any other statements you feel are needed here.) Goddess Aphrodite! Please accept this humble offering, given freely to you in gratitude for listening to my request! Place the offering near or on top of her sigil. Now, meditate on the petition and see the outcome you desire, such as a thinner body, being able to walk or exercise with ease. Extinguish the candles, except for the green candle. Allow it to burn out, SAFELY. Allow the incense to completely burn.
Ritual for Illness and Disease Best if performed at any time on a Sunday or Thursday. This ritual is not to take the place of medical treatment. If you have an untreated medical condition, you need to seek medical attention. This ritual will work within most medical treatments, as you are not consuming anything. This particular ritual does require some meditation (any type) and strong visualization. Offerings are the usual recommended milk or honey. Begin this by going into quiet meditation for about five or ten minutes. During which, visualize the Goddess arriving at your side and bathing you in golden light as she embraces you and begins to assist your body with healing. Feel the softness of her energy, it's warmth. After this, prepare your space and write out your petition. Orient your altar so that it faces *north* Altar items: • Image of the goddess • offering bowl • fireproof bowl • 2 candles (white or white & black) • One orange or white candle to represent your desire for healing and health. • Incense (floral or plain Frankincense) • Offerings (heavy cream or milk & honey)
• The petition written out in magik ink. Venus! And others! I ask that you be present and listen to my request. Goddess Aphrodite! Please bless this candle to bring me my desire! Now, light the orange (or white) candle. After a moment, read your petition aloud. Goddess Aphrodite! Please accept this humble offering, given freely to you in gratitude for listening to my request! Place the offering near or on top of her sigil. Now, begin more meditation, visualizing the same images and feelings as before. This time, go into as much detail as possible, including the looks on everyone's
faces as you announce that you are now healthy. When this is done and when you feel you have meditated long enough on the issue, speak the following words to allow the Goddess to depart: Goddess Aphrodite! I grant you leave to depart, having heard my petition. I thank you and wish you speed on your return journey to Mount Olympus. At this point, set the petition on fire, holding it over the fire proof bowl. After it has finished burning to ash, stir the ashes to make sure it has completely been reduced to ash, then take the ashes outside and cast them into nature (like a bush or grass). The ritual is done. Extinguish the candles, except for the orange (or extra white) candle. Allow it to burn out, SAFELY. Allow the incense to completely burn.
Ritual to Heal an Injury Best if performed at any time on a Sunday or Thursday. Similar to the ritual on disease, do not use this as a substitute for actual medical treatment. Many injuries will respond to energetic energy but energy and rituals do not substitute for actual medical treatment. Orient your altar so that it faces *north* Altar items: • Image of the goddess • offering bowl • fireproof bowl • 2 candles (white or white & black) • One blue candle to represent your desire • Incense (floral or plain Frankincense) • Offerings (heavy cream or milk & honey) • The petition written out in magik ink. Go into as much detail as you can. Goddess Aphrodite! Please accept this humble offering, given freely to you in gratitude for listening to my request! Place the offering near or on top of her sigil. When this is done and when you feel you have meditated long enough on the issue, speak the following words to allow the Goddess to depart: Goddess Aphrodite! Ritual for Fertility This is one of Aphrodite's original powers, bestowing fertility upon those women who petition. The offering is usually something that represents birth and growth, such as flowers and honey, cow's milk, or seeds. Also, print out or cut out photos of healthy infants to assist you in visualizing the safe birth of a child. Gather around you some elements to assist you in getting into the alpha state or to assist you in visualizing. A large arrangement of flowers which can also be an offering. Orient your altar so that it faces *north* Set your altar as follows: • Image of the goddess towards the rear • offering bowl • fireproof bowl • 2 candles (white or white & black) • One green candle to represent your desire. • Incense (floral or plain Frankincense) at foot of Aphrodite image. • Offerings (see suggestions) • The petition written out in magik ink. Light the candles. Douse the room's light, cast the circle, breathe, and calm yourself.

Read your petition out loud, knowing the goddess is nearby and is listening. Meditate. Visualize the reaction of your family to the news of a baby on its way. Go into details, see yourself being with child. See safe childbirth. Gaze upon the images of healthy babies, then gaze upon the image (or statue) of the goddess. Goddess Aphrodite! Please accept this humble offering, given freely to you in gratitude for listening to my request! Place the offering near or on top of her sigil. When this is done and when you feel you have meditated long enough on the issue, speak the following words to allow the Goddess to depart:

I grant you leave to depart, having heard my petition. I thank you and wish you speed on your return journey to Mount Olympus. At this point, meditate a moment, then set the petition on fire, holding it over the fire proof bowl. After it has finished burning to ash, stir the ashes to make sure it has completely been reduced to ash, then take the ashes outside and cast them into nature (like a bush or grass). The ritual is done. Extinguish the main white (or white and black) candles. Allow the colored candle to burn out SAFELY.
Allow the incense to completely burn.
Ritual for Gardening Possibly one of the oldest rituals to Aphrodite. Besides the usual candle, you will need the seeds, bulbs, or seedlings near you during the ritual. Otherwise, take a small amount of the earth you will be planting in. Best if performed Friday during the day, then plan to tend your garden afterwards Orient your altar so that it faces *north* Altar items: • Image of the goddess • offering bowl • fireproof bowl • 2 candles (white or white & black) • One orange or yellow candle. • Incense (floral or plain Frankincense) • Offerings (heavy cream or milk & honey) • The petition written out in magik ink. Light a candle. Douse the room's light, cast the circle, breathe, and calm yourself. Stand facing your altar (and facing north). Light the other candle. Start the incense. Invocation of Aphrodite:
Goddess Aphrodite! Hold your hand over the soil or seedlings/seeds and read your petition aloud. Ask that Aphrodite bless the seeds or soil. Goddess Aphrodite! Please bless this candle to bring me my desire! Now, light the orange or yellow candle. Meditate on the expected results. SEE the garden blossoming and how healthy the plants become. Goddess Aphrodite! Now, either plant the seeds/seedlings or scatter the blessed soil across your garden. The ritual is done. Extinguish the candles, except for the orange or yellow candle. Allow it to burn out, SAFELY. Ritual for attracting a lover – long term When performing love magick, you can be fairly specific, but if you place too many conditions in the way of Aphrodite, don't be surprised if this takes a lot longer to manifest. This ritual is designed to bring to you someone – but not anyone in particular. Thus, you should request that the Goddess bring you someone who is suitable, available (physically and emotionally). Then you need to be alert to the subtle signals of what actions to do to make sure you encounter this person. It does no good to ask for a lover and sit on the couch watching Lifetime movies and expect that person to be delivered to your doorstep! (Unless the person is a delivery person!) Now, on to the ritual. This ritual should be performed on a Friday, the day of Venus. Orient your altar so that it faces *north* Altar items: • Image of the goddess • offering bowl • fireproof bowl • 2 candles (white or white & black) • One PINK candle • Incense (floral or plain Frankincense) • Offerings (heavy cream or milk & honey) • The petition written out in magik ink.

Light the PINK candle Go into a daydream about who this person might be, but focus on how you will FEEL when meeting this person. Visualize the results. Go into as much detail as possible. Hold those feelings as the goddess begins to work her magick. Goddess Aphrodite! Please accept this humble offering, given freely to you in gratitude for listening to my request!
