Conference Overview The 1st Edition of the District Cooling and Tri Generation Summit was successfully hosted in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 23rd & 24th November 2014 with a call to the district cooling and tri-generation industry leaders to understand the importance of using alternative sources like district cooling instead of application of traditional air conditioning cooling system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The summit was officially endorsed and supported by the Electricity & Co-Generation Regulatory Authority (ECRA), Saudi Green Building Council, Saudi Tabreed and also hosted representatives of Government authorities, policy makers, regulatory authorities and technology specialists. The summit was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah M. Al Shehri, Governor of Electricity & Co-Generation Regulatory Authority with dignitaries from other prestigious organizations. The welcome note at the summit was given by the conference chairman Geroge Berbari, CEO, DC PRO Engineering, Engr. Nasser Al Qahtani, Vice Governor of ECRA set the tone for the rest of the summit proceedings with his opening keynote session on District Cooling outlook in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Challenges & opportunities. Over 100 participants witnessed multiple presentations, panel discussions and case studies. The keynote presentations on “Royal commission for Jubail: Responsible and equitable investment in district cooling” which underlined the development opportunities for Saudi Arabia was delivered by Mr. Ahmed M. Hassan, Director of Engineering Royal Commission for Jubail. Other highlights included topics on “Is the current applied district cooling technology outdated” presented by George Berbari, CEO, DC Pro Engineering and “Treated sewage effluent for district cooling: a reliable feasible source” was presented by Eng. Montazar Muhalhal, Director Treated Sewage Effluent Business Unit, National Water Company, Saudi Arabia.
