\\. Home for Elephants he Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is in the Kegalle district ofSri Lanka. The orphanage was set up to protect and take care of baby elephants found in the jungle, without their mothers. The mothers of most ofthese baby elephants had either died or been killed. The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage was built around forty years ago. At that time, there were only five orphaned baby elephants but now there are around ninety elephants. The grown-uP elephants eat about 250 kilos of vegetables and two kilos ofrice or maize. The Pinnawala Orphanage also has a few disabled elephants.
