o’Nique Waiters is a Senior student-athlete at M Dillard University and is majoring in Sociology with a concentration in Social Work. As a San Antonio native, Mo’Nique is planning to further her education at Southern University of New Orleans where she is going to receive her Master’s Degree in Social Work. After successfully finishing her Master’s Degree at Southern University of New Orleans, Mo’Nique is planning to work within an agency to help provide valuable resources to families and young children with some type of MO'NIQUE WAITERS developmental disability. STUDENT ATHLETE OF THE MONTH Here are her thoughts on being a student athlete. Being a student-athlete, sometimes it is very difficult to see the bright side on everything. I always keep God first in what I do because I know without him none of my accomplishments would be in my life. Also, I always have great support from my family. They have always pushed me to be a better individual, and to be a strong young woman. I also always strive to be a better young Christian woman by praying, and knowing in the end my blessing will be bigger than my struggle. I manage to sustain a 3.3 GPA in the classroom because I know that without my education, my life will be nothing. Having an education is one of the most important weapons a young woman can have and use. Educating yourself on what is going on in the world, and educating yourself on what you need to do to be successful in everything you do. When I graduate from Dillard University, I want to be able to make a difference in a young woman. I always strive to be a great role model and show them being a lady is a blessing and being an educated lady is an even bigger blessing. All the other parts are just extra toppings added on to the cake.
