Maths 1 Comparing Qualities Go on a walk with your child. Ask him/her to point to the small and big things he/she sees on the way. Read the story of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. 17

1 Comparing Qualities Introduce words such as thick, thin, long and short during play and meal times. Ask your child to pick and choose things in the house. Describe the object for the child to learn. Tell him/her to get things such as the thick long carrot, the thin long pencil, the thick pen and so on. 18

1 Comparing Qualities Draw lines of various lengths on a sheet of paper. Take straws and cut them so that they are of various lengths. Ask your child to match the length of the straws to that of the lines. Tell him/her to keep the long straws on one side and the short straws on the other side. 19

1 Comparing Qualities Play a game with your child to teach him/her the concepts of heavy and light. Put items such as soft toys, sponges, empty bottles, vegetables or locks in a bag and tell your child to close his/her eyes. Ask your child to put his/her hand in the bag, pick an item and tell you whether it is heavy or light. He/She can also guess the name of the item. 20

2 Sorting and Grouping Create a sensory bag. Take a ziploc bag and fill it with transparent hair gel. Put in colourful buttons of various sizes in the bag. Seal the bag and give it to your child. He/She has to move the buttons of the same size or colour to one end of the bag. 21

3 Positions Take a sheet of paper and ask your child to draw everything he/she likes in a line. Sit with him/her and ask which pictures come before and after a particular picture. You can also use the numbers in the calendar to ask your child which numbers come before and after a number you choose. 22

3 Positions Ask your child which shoe goes on the left foot and which shoe goes on the right foot. Go for a walk and ask him/her to point out the things he/she sees on the left side. Ask him/her to point out the things he/she sees on the right side. 23

4 Numbers Create sensory numbers using a chart, some glue and sand or glitter. On a chart paper, write a few numbers from 1 to 10 using glue. Ask your child to pour the sand or glitter over the glue. Let the chart dry. Ask your child to run his/her hand over the numbers and guess them. 24

4 Numbers Take 10 ice cream sticks and help your child write the numbers from 1 to 10 on them. Then, put all the sticks together in order. Help him/her paint a picture with his/her finger or brush on the surface of the sticks that have numbers. Let the sticks dry and put them back together in order to use as stick picture puzzles. You can make several such stick picture puzzles. 25

4 Numbers Take a pack of cards. Take out the cards with the numbers from 2 to 10 for this activity. Randomly pick one card. Ask the child to identify the number on the card and place it on the left. Pick another card from the same set and ask the child to identify the number on that card. Place it on the right. Ask the child to compare both the numbers to find out which is the bigger number. 26

4 Numbers Create a simple 2-piece jigsaw puzzle. One piece of the puzzle should have a number and the other should have its number name. Ask your child to match the pieces together. 1 One 27

4 Numbers Use an old calendar and cut out the numbers. Ask your child to arrange the numbers in order, fill in the missing numbers and identify the alternate numbers. 28

4 Numbers Use some beads, straws or a packet of candy and ask your child to count the number of objects. You can also use a bag and fill it with pens, pencils and beads. Ask your child to name the items that are of the same quantity. 29

5 Patterns Work with coloured clay to form different shapes - square, circle and so on. You can create a pattern out of shapes or colours. Ask your child to guess the next shape in the pattern. Encourage your child to create any shape he/she likes. 30

6 Take Away Cut a piece of sponge into smaller blocks. Ask your child to colour the sponge blocks using different paints and place them in a line. Call out a number. Ask your child to count and place the same number of sponge blocks in a line. You can also practise take away with your child by asking him/her to remove the same number of sponge blocks. You can ask your child to count the blocks that are left. 31

EVS 1 My Body Use the rhyme in the link given to revise the different body parts with your child. You can ask your child to repeat the rhyme and follow the actions shown in the video. 32

2 My School Visit your child’s school with your child. Ask him/her where his/her class is and which place he/she likes and dislikes the most in the school. Ask your child to show you the different rooms in the school that he/she spends the day in. 33

3 Cleanliness Play a game with your child to help him/her recognise things used to keep themselves clean and healthy. On a table, arrange different things such as a comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, nail cutter and so on. Ask them to tell the name of the object. Enact the action while you point out to things. For example, if you point at the toothbrush, they have to name the object and also pretend to brush their teeth. 34

4 Healthy Food Create a ‘Favourite Vegetables’ chart. Write the numbers from 1 to 6 in a column and have a few vegetables in a row. Ask your child to colour how much they like a vegetable - with 1 showing that he/she does not like it at all and 6 showing that he/she loves it. 1 2 3 4 5 6 35

5 Day and Night Make a paper plate Sun. Use yellow coloured paper or paint to colour a paper plate. Cut yellow strips of paper and paste it behind the plate to create a Sun. Ask your child to say the things he/she connects with the Sun in everyday life. 36

7 Vehicles Help your child to make a name train. Cut outlines of an engine and square-shaped compartments. Ask your child to write one letter of their name on each compartment. You can also make an ice cream stick aeroplane. Use coloured ice cream sticks and glue to make the aeroplane. R A MU 38

8 Colours Cut a chart paper to form a circle. Divide the circle into equal parts. Paint them with different colours. Get coloured cloth clips and ask your child to pin the clips to the circle so that the colours match. You can also get wooden cloth clips and colour them yourself. 39

9 Plants and Trees Go for a walk with your child in a neighbourhood that has a variety of plants and trees. You can visit a local park or a botanical garden. Point out the different trees and small plants that you see, how they vary in size and shape and how different types of plants grow in different ways. Talk about how useful plants and trees are to us. 40

10 Flower Petal Art Collect petals from flowers of different sizes and shapes. Cut a rectangular piece of chart paper. Paste the petals on the chart paper using glue. You can get the chart laminated or put it into a ziploc bag and seal it. 41
