Term Project Snow house Make sure you do this activity only with the help of your teacher or an adult. From paper recycling to arts and crafts, there are lots of uses for old paper. It’s time to get creative to save this precious resource. Let’s make igloos using old news paper. Igloos or ice houses are generally built of snow and ice in very cold places. You will need: all-purpose glue, old newspapers, black and white paints, masking tape You need to: a) Create papier (paper) mache glue by mixing the entire contents of a glue bottle with one-fourth cup of water in a bowl. Set aside. b) Cut the papers into thin strips. c) Take an inflated balloon and secure it by using a couple of pieces of tape. d) Draw outlines for the bottom of the igloo and the doorway. e) Dip strips into the glue mixture, making sure to completely soak the paper. Remove the excess glue and lay the strips over the surface of the balloon. Try to keep to one layer. It helps to dry quickly. Also, try to have the pieces criss-cross and overlap. f) Make a doorway to the igloo by using a curved mould and applying the same method. g) Allow everything to dry and leave it overnight to become hard. h) Deflate the balloon slowly.
