EDITOR’S TALK สวัสั ดีีค่่ะ ท่่านผู้้�อ่า่ นทุกุ ท่่าน การจััดงานประชุุมวิิชาการนานาชาติิและการจััดแสดงสิินค้้าฮาลาล หรืือที่่�รู้�้จัักกัันในชื่�อ Thailand Halal Assembly (THA) เป็็นหนึ่ง�่ ในความภาคภููมิิใจของศูนู ย์ว์ ิิทยาศาสตร์์ฮาลาล จุฬุ าลงกรณ์์มหาวิิทยาลััย การจัดั งาน THA ไม่เ่ พียี งเป็็นการแสดงศักั ยภาพ ด้้านวิิทยาศาสตร์์ฮาลาลประเทศไทย แต่่ยัังเป็็นการแสดงศัักยภาพด้้านฮาลาลประเทศไทยในแขนงต่่างๆให้้เป็็นที่่�ประจัักษ์์ในระดัับ สากล ในงานประกอบไปด้้วยการจััดงานประชุุมวิิชาการฮาลาลนานาชาติิ การประชุุมนานาชาติิว่่าด้้วยมาตรฐานและการตรวจ รัับรองฮาลาล การจััดงานแสดงนิทิ รรศการและสิินค้้าฮาลาล ซึ่�่งฮาลาลอินิ ไซด์์ฉบัับนี้้�จึึงขอนำเสนอผลการดำเนิินงานของการจัดั การ ประชุุมวิิชาการนานาชาติิที่่�ผ่่านมาก่่อนที่่�จะเป็็นงานประชุุมวิิชาการฮาลาลนานาชาติิที่่�ไม่่เพีียงเป็็นที่่�ยอมรัับในระดัับชาติิแต่่ยัังเป็็นที่่� ยอมรัับในระดัับสากล และผลจากการดำเนิินงานครั้้�งนี้้�ยัังมีีส่่วนทำให้้หน่่วยงาน Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) เห็นศักยภาพและยอมรับฮาลาลในประเทศท่ีมิใช่มุสลิมอย่างประเทศไทย และได้เชิญประเทศไทยเป็นหน่ึงใน สมาชกิ สงั เกตการณ์ (an observer member/state) ใน SMIIC Hello, readers. Organizing Thailand Halal Assembly (THA), the international academic conference and Halal product exhibition, is one of the prides of the Halal Science Center Chulalongkorn University (HSC). THA is not only a demonstration of Thailand’s potential in Halal science, it also presents Thailand’s potential in Halal of various fields on international level. The event consists of International Halal Academic Conference, International Conference on Halal Standards and Certification, and Halal Product Expo. Halal Inside this issue would like to present the previous operation of this international conference, before it is accepted not only nationally, but also internationally. This attempt allowed the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) to recognize the HSC’s potential and accept Halal operation from non-Muslim countries like Thailand, and eventually invited Thailand to become an observer member/state in SMIIC. In the event, there was envoys in Post-Modern Era Industry and Business” by from Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Nigeria, and Assoc.Dr. Winai Dahlan, The Halal Science Center, CU. representatives from sectors such as Ministry of Foreign Affair, NESDC, SBPAC, Director of OSMEP, Director of the Halal Science Center Chulalongkorn University, lecturers, guests among Thais and foreigners, and mass media. There were seminars in 6 topics: Opportunity of Halal Science in Post-Modern Era Industry and Business, Integration of Science and Standard into Halal Validation and Certification, Andaman as Potential Alternative IMT-GT Economic Region, HAL-Q System for Proper Halal Food Production in Industry and Restaurant, Potential of Andaman Region in Hotel and Tourism Business for Muslims, and Understanding Manual of Halal Tourism Standard. Action training in this event covered 2 topics: 1) Reinforcing Travel Entrepreneurs on Halal Standard and 2) Implementation of HAL-Q for Proper Halal Food Production in Restaurants and Hotels. There were 19 speakers from 4 countries such as South Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. The event also provided Business Networking activity and IMT-GT Halal Expo 2551. Academic Seminar | สััมมนาวิิชาการ During the discussion on “Andaman As Potential Alternative IMT-GT Economic Region”. The speakers were Dr.Porametee Vimolsiri (National Economic and Social Development Board, Thailand), Mr. Somkiat Anuras (IMT-GT Joint Business Council, Thailand), Dato’ Faudzi Naim Hj. Noh, IMT-GT Joint Business Council, Malaysia, Mr. Anirut Samutkojorn, (Thai-Islamic Trade and Industry Association, Thailand). As a result, this created an international network of Halal industry and science among sectors, organization, and business sectors related to food business and industry. Also, this counted as an opportunity to communicate that Halal products and services of Thailand are supported by scientific evidence, showing outstanding competency of Thailand in utilizing science and technology to support Halal industry on the world food forum. This is a way to let businesspersons and industries from each country realize the prospect in Halal business and industry, emphasizing on the concept of spiritual and physical safety in food products. Halal Science, Industry Exhibition and Expo & Business International Conference 2013 (HASIB 2013) & IMT-GT Halal Expo 2013 This 6th HASIB was held at The Sukosol Hotel during ภาพบรรยากาศการจััดงานนิิทรรศการแสดงในงาน HASIB 2013 โดยได้้มีี 13-15 August 2013 under the title“HASIB 2013: Halal Standard การจััดแสดงสิินค้้าของสถานประกอบการที่่�ผ่่านการวางระบบ HAL-Q และ Varieties Significance” by the Halal Science Center, นิทิ รรศการสบู่่�ดินิ ซึ่่�งเป็็นผลงานวิจิ ัยั ของทาง ศวฮ. Chulalongkorn University, with the Halal Standards Institute Atmosphere in the HASIB 2013’s exhibition. Products of enterprises of Thailand and the Office of the Central Islamic Council of that utilized the HAL-Q system were exhibited as well as the exhibition Thailand as co-hosts. Mr. Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisan, of clay soap which is the product that results from the HSC’s research. Deputy Prime Minister was the honorable president of the ceremony. The seminars consisted of 3 main meetings as follows: 1) Roundtable Discussion in Thai on the subject “Guidelines for Halal Standard Development” 2) HASIB Conference 2013: Halal Standard Varieties Significance 3) Roundtable Discussion. The roundtable discussion was divided into 3 sub-topics: 1) “Halal Standards” (English) 2) “Islamic Study Program for Halal Science Integration” 3) “Enhancing Halal Law and Consumer Protection”. The event was attended by 20 speakers from 9 countries: Malaysia, Thailand, Pakistan, Indonesia, Switzerland, Japan, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Australia. In the part of the exhibition in HASIB 2013, products of enterprises that utilized the HAL-Q system were exhibited. The exhibition of clay soap, which was the product derived from the HSC’s research, was also organized in the event. 25

Inside the exhibition, there were Thailand Halal Expo 2014 which displayed more than 200 booths from Halal entrepreneurs of Thailand and foreign countries. Mr. Sebahittin Korkmoz, President of SMIIC, of Thailand, the Halal Standards Institute of Thailand, and the Halal had congratulated Thailand on collaborating with Halal Science Center, Chulalongkorn University, together with 20 Halal accreditation organizations in OIC countries. General accreditation organizations from 16 countries: Malaysia, Turkey, Japan, Thanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Prime Minister as Korea, Philippines, Bangladesh, Australia, Singapore, Netherland, the Prime Minister’s Representative was the president Switzerland, Spain, Pakistan, New Zealand, Indonesia, Austria, United in the ceremony. The seminar section consisted of Arab Emirate, and Vietnam on 25th December 2015. 4 parts and was honored by 4 keynote speakers and 17 guest speakers from 13 countries: United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, India, Egypt, England, Tajikistan, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Pakistan, Turkey, Switzerland, and Thailand. The seminar sessions consisted of 4 parts with 3 keynote speakers and 18 guest speakers from 9 countries: United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kuwait, New Zealand, Pakistan, Turkey, Switzerland, Qatar, and Thailand. The 10th Halal Science, Industry and Business International Conference and Thailand Halal Assembly 2017 (THA 2017) Thailand Halal Assembly 2017 was organized by the Halal Science Center, Chulalongkorn University, together with Central Islamic Council Office of Thailand, and the Halal Standard Institute of Thailand. This was the 4th time of the event. It was held during 30 November – 3 December 2017 at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC) with the theme “Halal Wisdom: Convergence of Science, Technology, and Islamic Arts”. Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Secretary-General of ASEAN was assigned the honorable president in the opening ceremony. However, his illness and sudden demise was informed only prior to the opening ceremony. The organizer team continued the event by inviting Sheikhul Islam of Thailand, Mr. Aziz Pitakkumpol, as president of the ceremony. At this event, Mr. Ihsan ÖVÜT congratulated Thailand for becoming a member of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC/OIC) by, SMIIC/OIC Secretary-General. The 10th Halal Science, Industry and Business (10th HASIB) was included in the event, as well as the International Halal Science and Technology Conference 2017 (IHSATEC2017) which contain 6 sessions. The conference was honored by 26 keynote speakers and guest speakers from 14 countries: United Arab Emirates, Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kuwait, New Zealand, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, Switzerland, Qatar, and Thailand. International Conference & Halal Exhibition 2018 Thailand Halal Assembly 2018 (THA 2018) Thailand Halal Assembly 2018 was organized by Academic Presentation Session the Halal Science Center, Chulalongkorn University, together with the Office of the Central Islamic Council of ภาพบรรยากาศการนำเสนอผลงานวิชิ าการแบบปากเปล่่าจำนวน 6 ผลงาน Thailand, and the Halal Standards Institute of Thailand และนำเสนอแบบโปสเตอร์์จำนวน 32 ผลงาน in the 5th time during 14-16 December 2018 at Bangkok Atmosphere during the 6 oral academic presentations and 32 poster International Trade & Exhibition Centre: BITEC under presentations. the concept “Precision Halalization in the Bioeconomy Era.” Mr. Anan Suwannarat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Representative of the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives was the president of the ceremony. The event was also honored by Mr. Ihsan Ovut, Secretary-General of SMIIC and Dr. Abdulrahman Abdullah M. Al-Zaid, Representative of the Muslim World League to give the opening speech. The event consisted of the Halal Science, Industry and Business (HASIB) and the International Halal Science and Technology Conference 2018 (IHSATEC2018) which held a total of 5 sessions. There were 25 keynote speakers and guest speakers from 12 countries: the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, New Zealand, Egypt, Pakistan, Turkey, Switzerland, Qatar, and Thailand. Academic presentations conducted in the event were 38 from 4 countries. Also, there were business matching in this event. Fourteen business partners had negotiated at THA 2018. As for the Thailand International Halal Expo (TIHEX), there were Halal entrepreneurs from Thailand and abroad over 310 booths.
