It’s time to plug into The Power of You! \"The one exclusive sign of thorough knowledge is the power of teaching.\"-Aristotle Dear Educator, The success of Seminole County Public Schools is a testament to the quality of its educators, working hard to prepare their students to graduate career-ready . As educators, you are committed to deliberate and reflective personal and professional growth, spending countless hours discovering innovative ways to engage and empower students. The influence you have as a teacher is immeasurable. Dr. Haim Ginott, renowned educator, stated, “I’ve come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It's my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess a tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or de-humanized.” The Power of You Conference is a three-week collection of some of the finest professional learning opportunities presented for educators by educators. Throughout this conference, educators are encouraged to seek meaningful professional learning opportunities that will enhance classroom delivery, promote innovation, and empower both educators and students to become “future ready”. So, take a look through this course catalogue and determine what offerings most appeal to your professional learning goals and objectives. Most courses are available on a first come, first served basis and are offered on multiple occasions. We look forward to working together to continue to enhance our status as an outstanding community of educators. Sincerely, Your Fellow Educators 2 | P a g e
