PAGE 5 SECOND HAND UNIFORM SHOP Dear Parents, We write to introduce ‘The Second Hand School Uniform Shop’ an initiative of Regent Cares – the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of the Regent School. At the end of every term, we have quite a large stock of lost and found uniforms that remain unclaimed. A lot of these uniforms are still fairly new and in good condition and at the end of every term we find ourselves thinking of ways to dispose of them. It is coming from this background that regent cares has come up with the idea of having a second hand uniform shop. The second-hand uniform shop will provide an alternative option for parents who need uniforms for only a short period of time or who would like to buy uniforms at a fraction of the original cost and also where particular sizes of uniforms are out of stock in the main school uniform shop. The second-hand uniform shop will sell uniforms at a discounted price and all sales proceeds from the shop will be used by the regent cares to execute its different CSR projects. Some of the CSR projects of The Regent Cares so far includes;  Renovation and upgrade of facilities in the FCT school for the blind, Jabi (in conjunction with FoRSS).  Donation of food items to Durumi IDP camp.  Donation of learning aids to Gishiri Primary School.  Cash donation to Hope for All Foundation to support their education drive for internally displaced children. In addition to the lost and found uniform item, we are also appealing to parents whose children are graduating from Year 11 to colleges and universities or whose children have outgrown their uniforms or families who may be relocating and therefore do no need the uniforms any more to kindly donate uniforms and support the worthy cause of The Regent Cares. We also encourage parents to patronize the shop by buying uniforms and thereby helping to make a difference in the lives of the less privilege in the society through the regent cares. The uniform items which we would like parents to donate are;  School blazer  School shorts/skirt.  P.E shorts  School trousers  Cardigan/sweater Only neatly used uniforms that are still in good condition will be sold in the shop and all uniforms will be properly laundered and well packaged. We will start accepting items immediately and parents can drop them off at the school office. We look forward to your support and thank you in advance. Together we can make a difference. PAGE 6 2020 SPORTS DAY As another annual Sports Day has come again, we compete to the best of our abilities. This Sport's Day was not the best, yet we gave it all we could. Senegal came first position in the March Past with a good start. Nevertheless, the scores from the field events a few days before were not too exciting as we came second place. Many candidates had gotten foul throws and this counted against Senegal House finally tally. As the races began we were all at the edge of our seats watching closely trying very hard not to blink. From Benue to Congo, and Senegal to Volta, it could be said that the day was an interesting day. However, after our previous win of the Sport's Day and being the defending champions, most of us came in too confident. For the shuttle relay, we came 3rd due to the baton falling down for an uncountable amount of times, but that didn't stop us from trying. When the actual races started, each house paid close attention to the racers in action. Some fainted, had muscle pull and got injured. But like the saying is, \"No pain, no gain\". Senegal House came 3rd overall on sports day. We will get our trophy back next year from Volta house who emerged as this year's winner. Congratulations Volta House. - Max Lochman (Year 10 Senegal) Respect Responsibility Resourcefulness THE REGENT DIGEST VOLUME 8 ISSUE 20

PAGE 42 CRAZY WEEKEND II - DAY 2 MY CRAZY WEEKEND ADVENTURE Crazy Weekend at The Regent Secondary School was a wonderful time for me. At first, I was really scared because I was going away from my parents though with mixed feelings leaving my older sister behind. This adventure made me make new amazing friends and meet people with different talents. On the first night, I played basketball which I enjoyed and learnt some new skills. My buddy, Debra, helped me feel so comfortable. I played lots of games with my roommates and also enjoyed the sleep time. On Saturday evening, we had Football and then the Crazy Costume Night which was very interesting. We also had a very good parte after parte dance time with delicious goodies. It was really fun. On Sunday afternoon, the weekend came to an end. I will never forget this crazy weekend and I look forward to resuming in September 2020 as a student of The Regent Secondary School. -Ameena Mukhtar Respect Responsibility Resourcefulness THE REGENT DIGEST VOLUME 8 ISSUE 19
