AUGUST 2021, Vol. 41 No. 02 MEMBERSHIP; OUR STRENGTH EACH ONE BRINGONE

The month of August is very important in Rotary. It is the month designated to focus on membership attraction, engagement and new clubs development. In this Rotary year, an emergency has been declared on Membership by the Rotary International President, Shektar Mehta. It's refreshing to see our clubs taking up this challenge wholeheartedly. Our August Newsletter with tagline, Membership; our strength lends credence to our District's efforts on membership. Indeed our strength lies in our membership. The more we are, the more we can do. The Newsletter focuses on membership and all our contents are a-must read including our special feature 'In search of a baby' by my very good friend , Prof. Adetokunbo Olusegun Fabanwo, the CMD Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. Let me seize this opportunity to appreciate all our advertisers and clubs who have supported the journey so far. Two down, Ten to go and like Oliver Twist, I will keep asking for your support to make this publication a going concern. Thank you all 03

West Bengal, India As we make membership a priority this year, let us focus on diversity by reaching out to younger people and especially to women. Every club should celebrate its new members, and every Rotarian who sponsors a member will be personally recognized by me. And those who are successful in bringing in 25 or more members will be part of our new Membership Society. Even as we share the gift of Rotary with others, let us be sure to engage these new members, because an engaged Rotarian is an asset forever. And remember that engaging our current members and keeping them in our clubs is just as important as bringing in newcomers. Let us also be ready to form new clubs, especially exible ones. I am very bullish on clubs that hold virtual or hybrid meetings, and satellite clubs and cause-based clubs can also be very effective ways of growing Rotary. As you grow more, you will be able to do more. Let us keep empowering girls through our work in each of the areas of focus.
