P | 4 THE NEWS HUB | VOLUME 2 | OCTOBER 2019 Country Cat Eunice Santiago Weir Minerals is pleased to announce that the winner of the July Country Cat Award is Eunice Santiago. Eunice joined the Weir Minerals Africa team in June 2013 as a Process Engineer, and has since established herself as an invaluable and integral part of the hydrocyclone product team. Eunice completed her National Diploma in Chemical Engineering in 2003, before beginning her career at the Mintek Metallurgical Research and Development Facility where she undertook test work on various equipment for large mining companies and EPCM project houses. Always seeking continual improvement, Eunice continued her studies part-time while at Mintek, obtaining her Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the University of South Africa in 2008. Her strong technical background and almost 10 years of experience at Mintek has served her well in her current Integrated Solutions-oriented role at Weir Minerals, giving Eunice a unique perspective when looking at a customer’s entire process. This is evident in her relationship with Kenmare Moma Sands in Mozambique, where she is building a legacy in changing out competitor cyclones. To date, Eunice has sold more than 37 hydroyclones, including six Cavex 700 CVX hydrocyclones, to this customer site, replacing competitor products and significantly increasing our Cavex hydrocyclone footprint onsite. These significant successes are attributed to her superior technical support, after-sales service, dedication and unwavering commitment to the customer. Originally from Mozambique herself, Eunice is fluent in Portuguese, making her an asset to the team when serving customers there. Eunice has obtained more than 14 new customers who now operate Cavex hydrocyclones on site, as well as replacing more than 30 competitor hydrocyclones across multiple sites in the past 18 months alone. In addition, she sold the first large Cavex hydrocyclone cluster in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to Chemaf’s Mutoshi copper mine. A true retrofit change-out champion across a number of sites, Eunice has played a critical role in protecting our aftermarket business in the region, while her Integrated Solutions mindset means that she is always looking for ways to optimise customer operations. Her energy, drive, bubbly personality and customer-focus is not only an integral component in her achievements, but a major contributing factor to the success of her team in the region. Eunice enjoys spending her free time with her extended family, and you can often find her listening to Pasada music (popular in Mozambique) as well as Gospel music.
