Dear Foundation Friends, During a recent conversation with a loyal donor she shared how she loves working with our team because we sit at the intersection of hope and action: “You are the one! Whether for help with tax planning, to hear more about the local nonprofit sector’s needs or how to get our children excited about charitable giving—the Community Foundation has been our North Star when it comes to philanthropy. Anytime we’ve needed help with our giving, you’ve been there for us.” As you can imagine, this was a very gratifying conversation for a new CEO to have with a valued stakeholder. Our Community Foundation team is small but mighty and I’m very proud of our accomplishments this year. Here are just a few highlights: • Invested in a true fund accounting system built specifically for community foundations to fully integrate our core operations • Completed a thorough Strategic Plan to be used until 2024 • Implemented a comprehensive marketing plan to increase awareness of our work • Received the Council on Foundations National Standards Accreditation • Established separate County Funds to receive local donations and make grant distributions to local nonprofits in each of the nine counties we serve • Welcomed Genevieve Kirk as our new Director of our Center for Nonprofit Excellence to expand and enhance our offerings (read more on pages 4 and 5!) • Collaborated with United Way of Champaign County as charitable beneficiaries for the inaugural Run to Remember Race, working together to distribute the funds raised as grants to local nonprofit partners • Established 16 new funds • Increased our assets significantly with more than $6 million in support and revenue • Distributed (a record!) $1.5 million in grants and scholarships to 190 nonprofits Our generous donors make our hard work possible and we are grateful. But we have miles to go before we sleep. This year you can expect to see continued hard work from our team—and even more local impact. We’d love you to join us this year as we: • Celebrate our 50th Anniversary • Pilot our new #GenerosityAcrossGenerations Family Philanthropy initiative • Launch a new donor portal and Nonprofit Wishlist donation platform • Connect people and resources across the sectors to identify and address present and emerging community needs If you’re interested in getting involved, please e-mail me at [email protected] or call us at 217.359.0125. We look forward to working with you. Thank you for all you do to help our Community Foundation—and our community.
