Page 3 DoB Summer Bulletin Summer Internship Highlights Jordyn Jackson Internal Firms Intern Pricewaterhouse- Coopers My name is Jordyn Jackson, senior business accounting major at Xavier University of Louisiana. This summer I had the pleasure of interning with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as a participant in the Start internship program with the Internal Firm Services. Altogether, I was exposed to the world of Public Accounting as well as corporate America. I learned about the different lines of service that PwC offers such as auditing, tax, and advisory. PwC afforded me the opportunity to participate in vital trainings that exposed me to the life of a public accountant. This experience furthered my growth, and afforded me the opportunity to travel and network with professionals and other students across the United States. I engaged with hands-on technology that is being used in the world of accounting today while learning software like Alteryx and Tableau. I worked in team settings assisting with creating in -depth analysis to find trends in data visualizations created to find solutions for clients. Networking with associates, directors, and even Partners was amazing! I took away many competitive advantages that would make me marketable in the future. Throughout this internship, I learned so much about the company and the wonderful people that work for it. I cannot wait to continue here next summer. http://www.xula.edu/business or Follow us on twitter: @XULA_DOB #XULABusiness

Volume 10, Issue 3 DoB Summer Bulletin Page 4 Summer Internships Highlights Shannen Lawson Business Analyst Intern J.P. Morgan Chase I am Shannen Lawson, a senior Finance major from Detroit, Michigan. This past summer, I was a corporate summer analyst in the Global Finance & Business Management Program at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. supporting the Commercial Bank (CB) Treasury Balance Sheet team. In my role, I was exposed to and responsible for a wide-range of deliverables ranging from RWA and deposit trending to daily, monthly, and quarterly reporting, just to name a few. I also got to dive deep into some analytical and conceptual frameworks for pricing of deposits and loans. My internship built a good foundation for financial analysis and management that could be definitely be applicable across more industries than just banking. I was able to get a very holistic view of the firm because I sat on a team that accounted for all the sub-lines of businesses within CB. All in all, my biggest takeaways from internships are always about my personal and professional growth and how I envision the next view years of my life. This experience was no different—the skills to effectively perform your job can easily be learned but the hunger to be successful, however you define success, must come from within. http://www.xula.edu/business or Follow us on twitter: @XULA_DOB #XULABusiness

Page 5 DoB Summer Bulletin Summer Internships Highlights Dominic Scott Credit Analyst Intern Ford Motor Co. My name is Dominic Scott, senior Sales & Marketing major at Xavier University of Louisiana. This past summer I had the opportunity to partake in a 10-week internship with Ford Motor Credit Company in Colorado Springs, Colorado. During my 10-weeks I learned the ins and outs of financing Ford vehicles within the automotive industry. Some of the privileges I had the pleasure of partaking in was doing weekly rotational shifts though every department in Ford Credit (such as sales, originations, dealer credit, and dealer financing to name a few). Some of the major highlights of my internship was being able to travel to Ford’s headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, in order to help Ford Credit’s executive operations manager redesign the Ford Motor Credit Excellence Award. Another exciting part of my internship was when my co-workers and I conducted a risk mitigation presentation which was from a systemic risk perspective, to identify the top 5 dealers in Ford Credit with the greatest risk of loss. To top it all off I had the opportunity to sit one-on-one with Ford Credit’s CEO, David McClelland, and discuss Ford Credit’s action plan regarding autonomous vehicles being promoted in lower income communities. My takeaway from this experience with Ford Motor Credit was that it gave me the confidence to think outside of the box and motivation to be a better student. http://www.xula.edu/business or Follow us on twitter: @XULA_DOB #XULABusiness

DoB Newsletter Page 6 Summer Internship Highlights Justyce Riggs Discovery Rotational Intern Deloitte My name is Justyce Riggs, senior Accounting major at Xavier University of Louisiana. Over this past summer I was granted the opportunity to have another internship experience at Deloitte. This summer I worked as a Discovery rotational intern with Tax and Audit in Tampa, FL. I had the chance to work with International and Multistate Tax. I learned so much about the clients I worked on, the software that we specifically work with for Tax, and much more. International and Multistate taxes are two different service lines, but I was the only one to be able to fluctuate between the two services learning multiple things across the two services. I also worked within Auditing in which I was directly working with clients and many other Tax professionals. In Audit I was able to work during a busy quarter and actually received the real time experience of how busy and hectic it can be during the Audit busy season. My biggest takeaway was the many tax professionals that I have made connections with. I have officially received an extended offer for another summer internship focused on the Tax services in Tampa, FL. http://www.xula.edu/business or Follow us on twitter: @XULA_DOB #XULABusiness

Page 7 DoB Newsletter Summer Internship Highlights Michael Reed Auditing Intern Lockheed Martin My name is Michael Reed, junior Management major at Xavier University of Louisiana. This summer I spent my days in the middle of Disney World with sun, lizards and Lockheed Martin, the nation’s largest defense contractor. During this experience, I assisted with an audit in the procurement department. I joined the intern volunteer committee, a new task force formed this summer. I felt that it would be a chance for me to grow as a leader. At the beginning I was skeptical, but I pushed through and had the opportunity to work with individuals who had a passion like mine to help others. The most rewarding part of joining the intern volunteer committee was knowing that my actions made a difference in someone’s life. I became more patient and confident as I shared my ideas. Believing that I can succeed and excel is what it took for me to accept this internship, join the volunteer committee and share this experience with you. If you never try something, you may never know, but if you try, it may be your chance to grow! I learned a lot while interning, but one of the biggest takeaways was to be confident. http://www.xula.edu/business or Follow us on twitter: @XULA_DOB #XULABusiness

Volume 10, Issue 2 DoB Newsletter Page 6 Summer Internship Highlights Mya Jacobs Frontline Sales Intern 3M My name is Mya Jacobs, senior, Sales and Marketing major at Xavier University of Louisiana. Being immersed in the role of a 3M Industrial & Safety Markets Center Field Sales Representative this summer was beyond rewarding. I can easily say, without looking at any stats or figures, that I was a part of one of the top internship programs in the country just based on their level of investment into students. It goes beyond money—3M invested into my education as a business professional, my interpersonal development as a human being, and my overall morale as a college student. Coming from that internship and going into my senior year of a sales and marketing degree here at XULA, I feel restored and motivated. My education has a renewed sense of purpose now that I have hands- on experience with the life that I work so hard for. What I was able to learn and experience in such a short time in California really put into perspective what my nearby future could and will be. The biggest takeaway from my internship experience is this: there is immense value in honest, diligent work ethic and being accountable for one’s self. That differentiates you from being just an average employee vs. being a vital asset. http://www.xula.edu/business or Follow us on twitter: @XULA_DOB #XULABusiness

Page 7 DoB Newsletter Summer Internship Highlights Ayanna Brown Financial Crime Compliance Intern Goldman Sachs My name is Ayanna Brown, a senior Sales and Marketing major here at Xavier University of Louisiana. I interned with Goldman Sachs this summer as a Financial Crime Compliance Intern in my first choice location, Dallas, TX. During my internship, I was able to use my sales and marketing background while also explore my interest in law at the firm. My time at the firm included; conducting research to help develop a company-wide regulation for employees to adhere to when evaluating a risk level for customers, performing customer due diligence to ensure that the firm would illicit transactions that could cause reputational risk, and contributing in a team- oriented environment to develop more efficient strategies to better comply with. The project that was the highlight of my summer was, assisting in the development of the first Goldman Sachs and Apple Credit Card. This project was a great experience to be a part of, as both companies explored a new venture. These past 10 weeks have been a great experience, which allowed me to grow personally and professionally, while also having a good time. I was not only able to experience what it would feel like as a full- time analyst at the firm, but also I was able to build long-lasting relationships with other interns and employees. As the summer concluded, I was offered a full-time offer from the firm upon graduation! http://www.xula.edu/business or Follow us on twitter: @XULA_DOB #XULABusiness

Page 7 DoB Newsletter Summer Internship Highlights Donovan Armstrong Frontline Inside Sales Representative Intern 3M My Name is Donovan Armstrong, Senior, Sales & Marketing Major. This summer I had the opportunity to intern at 3M as an Inside Sales Representative in their Oral Care Solutions Division. The first few weeks were dedicated to orientation and participating in an intensive sales training program at their global headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota. Following the training, I was able to practice CRM System Management, POS Data Analysis, and Territory Management while modeling the role of an Inside Sales Representative. I was also able to build relationships with Outside Sales Representatives and join efforts to regain lost business and gain competitive conversions within the territory. In addition to performing the day-to-day role as an Inside Sales Representative, I also collaborated with fellow interns and key personnel to plan, research, and present real solutions for existing issues with the company’s current global sampling process. My biggest takeaway from the experience was the realization of how individual successes of the various departments (ex: inside sales vs. outside sales) worked to solidify the success of the organization as a whole. The internship was extremely beneficial allowing me to apply academics with on the job experience and, in the end, I was offered employment with 3M upon graduation. http://www.xula.edu/business or Follow us on twitter: @XULA_DOB #XULABusiness
