ABOUT DEPARTMENTOFMANAGEMENTSTUDIES TheDepartmentofManagementStudies(DMS)hasauniquepositionintheUniversityby establishingthefirstMBAprogrammein1956.Forthepast36years,ithasbeencateringtotheneeds ofmanagementeducationandresearchbesidesprovidingconsultingandtrainingtocorporateand governmentorganisationsthroughoutreachprogrammes.Itsalumniholdhighandcovetedpositionsin industry,governmentandacademiainIndiaandabroadDMShasbeenconsistentlyrankedamong India'sTopB-Schoolsbyreputedmagazinesandotherrankingorganizations.Inresponsetothe demandfrom theIndustry,DMShaslaunchedtwonewMBAprogrammes,namely,two-yearfulltime MBA(DataAnalytics)andthree-yearMBA(Part-time)underself-financingmodefrom theacademic year2019-20.ForitsflagshipMBAprogrammewithdualspecialisation,DMShasasanctionedstrength of168seats(whichincludes148through+2Andaman&Nicobar+18Foreign/NRI),besidesseatsfor IndianArmyandAirforceunderMoU.DMShasasanctionedstrengthof30forMBA(DataAnalytics) and40forMBA(Part-time).MBA(Part-time)caterstotheneedsofyoungworkingprofessionalsto upgradethemselveswhereasMBA(DataAnalytics)caterstotheneedsofcommunityofanalystsinthe areasofresearchandbusiness. Forthepast36years,DMShasbeentailoringtotheneedsofaspiringmanagementandresearch studentswithahighlyqualifiedandadaptableteam offacultiescom prising&Professorsand5 AssociateProfessors.ThefacultymembersofDMSareknownfortheirachievementsandrecognition intheirrespectivefields.ThestudentsofDMSform anabsoluteheterogeneousgroup,gatheringfrom everycornerofthecountrylookslikeamini-India.Studentsfrom foreignnationsaregiven opportunitiestounderstandandperceivediversecultureandbehaviour.TheDMScurriculum is adaptedtowardstheongoingchangesofindustriesandIntroducesnewelectiveseverynowandthen basedonIndustryneedsThecoursecomprisesFoundational(egBusinessEnvironmental)subjects, Fundamental(eg.Law)subjects,intermingling(e.g.StrategicManagement)subjectsandFunctional electives(eg,Finance,Marketing,HRandOperations&Systems)Currently,Prof.B.Charumathiis headingtheDepartmentofManagementStudies.
