Team Leader’s Remarks “Another completed season, Another objective achieved” Vítor Teixeira Not in terms of racing since, for obvious reasons, we couldn’t compete this year. What I’m refering to is the assembly of a great and highly efficient team, both in technical and in mar- keting terms. The recruitment’s consequences are in the public’s eye: GP21 was designed in a time of physi- cal, emotional and psychological adaptation to the new reality of virtual meetings and work, as well as the new evaluation methods in our uni. GP19’s optimization was on course to be fi- nished in April but, due to quarantine, we lost access to our workshop. Nevertheless, by June we got back to work and tested the car, so we can barely wait to show what it is capable of. Now it’s time to focus on the future and follow through with the manufacture of GP21, for which we can always count in the restlessness of our sponsors. With a bit of luck, we can maybe go racing before summer, something that never happened before in our his- tory. Bring it on 2021! We’re ready! 2

Siemens Innov GP21 In this edition we present PSEM’s new prototype, the result of the team’s dedication, commitment and hard work. Even in the difficult circumstances we had to work in, we managed to create an innovative and sophisticated design that will for sure be our most competitive to date - GP21. With regards to its systems, GP21 will have a quick release steering wheel and an adjustable steering column for better handling and/or sensiti- vity. The cooling and transmission systems are similar to those of GP19, given their already high efficiency. However, all their parts were modi- fied to reduce weight. The most critical components like the hub support, the wishbones and the rear axels’ support were 3

vation topologically optimized, meaning that the geometry was adapted to the loads and constraints that these components are subjected to. GP21 will have a one-piece carbon tub and an independ- ent bodywork that, from our tests, results in less than 5N of drag. With respect to the electronics, the power management system is now being tested and perfected. We have many sensors in the car such as I- nertial Measurement Units, current, voltage and temperature sensors, and also an Hall sensor to measure the wheel’s rpm. The telemetry will have a wi-fi module, with which the data is uploaded to our server and then analyzed by our mechanics and electricians. 4

Vítor Teixeira #teammates Bruno Vitorino I’m from São Miguel Isl., currently in the 5th year of Aerospace Engr., and I love to cook enormous amouts of muffin breads. Leonor Barata In 2018, I joined the Aero Dept. and developed the cooling sys- tem for GP19. Thanks to my resillience and proactivity, I became Team Leader for the 2019/2020 season. Our 2nd place at East Fortune will always be one of my fondest memories, as it was the best reward for our dedication. The next objective is GP21’s build, with the ultimate goal being to beat our personal record and aim for victory. I’m in the 3rd year of Aerospace Engr. and I love cycling. I joined the Aerodynamics Dept. in 2019, having designed and optimized the bodywork of our new prototype, GP21. Currently I’m the leader of the Aeroynamics Dept. and I’m also Technical Director. To see GP21’s final assembly was truly remarkable, for it was the result of our team effort and numerous hours of work. In this next season we’ll build GP21, with the goal being to finish regularly on the podium places. I’m from Fundão and I’m in my final year of the Bachelors De- gree in Industrial Engineering and Management. After finishing the 2019 recruitment phase, I started working in the Communications & Marketing Dept., of which I’m now the leader. The trust that was placed in me in the proposal to lead the dept. was for me the peak of this season. The main target now is to increase PSEM’s ranking on Green- power’s, country’s and world’s stages. 6

Meet FSVitoria Luís Barreiro - Team Leader 9

Formula Student Vitoria was born more than two years ago out of the dream of four students of the degree in automotive engineering. We have come a long way since those days: currently more than 40 people work everyday to achieve very ambitious objectives. Our aim is to design, build and race a formula style single seater in the Formula Student competition. In our first year competing we will have a carbon fibre monocoque, 4 in-wheel electric motors and a com- plete aerodynamic package. In order to achieve our goals we can always count on our sponsors, such as “Fundación Vital”, “Diputación foral de Álava” or “Mecanizados Arratxa”. The help and support they provide is essential. After years of designing we have now shifted to the building phase. The excitement of team members is clear as new parts arrive everyday to our workshop. We are now working on build- ing the skeleton of our single seater, the monocoque. Besides that, we are carrying out tests with the electric motors, finishing the transmission and building test pieces to measure the strength of our components. Once we finish the car we will test it and set it up for the competition in Montmeló in 2021. @fstudentvitoria @fstudentvitoria @fstudentvitoria company/formula-student-vitoria 10

Greenpower Track Goodwood Circuit is a racetrack located in Chi- chester, England, having an extension of 3.809km. After World War II, it was mainly used as a Royal Air Force base and after a few years was transformed into a racetrack. Nowadays it hosts several impor- 11 tant automotive world events, such as the Festival
