Page 2 HEAD OF DEPARTMENTS REPORT Foundation Programme Report Online learning experience vs in-class experience “I resumed physically this week after learning online for about a month. Learning online was nice because of the comfort and flexibility. Even though I enjoyed the online classes, I prefer in-class learning because learning online was not effective enough due to network issues. Resuming physically has made me feel like I'm actually in school. I've also gotten to meet new people which would've been difficult during online learning. One thing I'm glad about is that the quality of teaching in class is not subpar to that of online lessons so I wasn't at a disadvantage learning online.” Bazuaye Aizeyosabo Okwuchukwu (Engineering Foundation) Respect Responsibility Resilience

Page 4 HEAD OF DEPARTMENTS REPORT Advanced Level & Advanced Subsidiary The highlights of achievements for the week.  Students attestation to in-class learning is way better than online learning as the stu- dents have seen academic rigour expected of them more in the in-class lessons than the online learning.  In-class learning has aided students’ commitment to their learning.  Next week all student will participate in the last weekly test to ascertain their perfor- mance in comparison to the performance of the online test. Page 12 SRC ELECTION CONT’D Student’s Feedback At the Regent College Abuja, we take pride in the quality of feedback that we receive from our stakeholders. In this week edition of the newsletter, we bring to you some of the feedback that we received from our students about their learning experiences since joining The Regent College Abuja. I joined The Regent College on the 28th September, 2020 which was quite late. I expected that I wouldn't be able to catch up considering the amount of work I had missed but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that teachers are more than willing to assist you and I caught up in no time. I have enjoyed my experience at The Regent College so far and I don't think there is anything I will change. -Onengiye Ofori Banago It has been an interesting experience, I have had a good time learning, I like how the teachers actually make sure tasks we are given are thoroughly understood. My best experience has been my mentoring classes. Khadijah Musa My greatest moment in the school was when I became Mr. Nigeria -Sheik Aliyu My experience at The Regent College so far has been quite good. It has also been stressful due to the school work, but in all it has been good. I relate very well with my fellow students and they are very nice. The classes have been good and the teachers are great. My best moments are my mentoring classes and talking with my friends and I don't think I would change anything because it is good throughout. -Chinyere Devine Ejim Since joining the college, my experience has been interesting, to say the least. As a returning stu- dent, traits of determination and perseverance are still instilled in me since my first year, last year. - Fauziyah Gebi Expect more feedback from the students in the next edition. Page 20 MEDICAL CORNER When was the last time you changed the sheets on your bed? If it has been more than one week read on! We spend a third of our lives snuggled between our sheets, and under our duvets in bed. Humans shed over 500 million skin cells a day, many of them sloughed off as we roll around on bed sheets. Add to that, the other daily deposits of drool, dandruff and sweat on your bed sheets and pillow cases taking up residence in your bed! Did you know that dirty pillowcases can lead to acne and clogged pores? Dead skin cells, saliva, sweat and drool can turn your comfy pillowcase into a petri dish of germs! Lab tests found that swabs from pillow cases unwashed for just one week harboured 17,000 times more colonies of bacteria than samples taken from a toilet seat! Wash your sheets in very hot water and change them at least once per week. Be sure to wash them in the hottest water possible, and dry on the highest heat setting acceptable to the fabric. In addition to changing your bed sheets once a week, you may be able to cut down on ac- ne, breakouts, skin irritations, eczema, running nose, itchy eyes, difficulty in breathing and wheezing by making sure to change your pillow cases 2-to-3 times a week.
