UFP The month of March has been predominantly characterised by the week 10 test, research, science practicals, and preparation for the end of term 2 examinations. To this end, it has been very rigorous doing all of these things at the same time for both teachers and students. The science practicals and research projects are nearing completion for the September Starters, while the January Starters still have term 3 to complete theirs. To have our students fully ready for the examinations, there has been extensive revision exercises and booster classes. We look forward to excellent results at the end of these efforts.

MARCH 2022 VOL. 4 SAFE GUARDING OSSD Students On Friday March 18, staff of The Celebrate University Regent College had a three-hour seminar on safeguarding held at the Admissions multi-purpose hall on the school premises. The Principal was the facilitator, and she took the staff on an interactive session on safeguarding in a school environment. A lot was discussed on safeguarding with a view to identifying and addressing issues and concerns about students’ safety in the school. Mr Olusoji Ayade was made the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) on Safeguarding Matters. The programme turned out to be a rewarding outing as staff were well equipped with all it takes concerning the principles of safe guarding and how to ensure its implementation in the school. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SPOTLIGHT Every year, TRC is home to international students from all over the world. This year, we have students from Canada, India, Italy, South Africa, Ethiopia, the USA, Great Britain and Sierra Leone and are ably represented by their flags here. This month's edition shines the spotlight on Phyllis Lansana- Wonneh, a student of the Foundation Programme who in a chat with us speaks about her time here. Enjoy! Interviewer: Hello Phyllis, where are you from? Phyllis: Hello! My name is Phyllis and I'm from Sierra Leone. Interviewer: What is studying at TRC like? Phyllis: Studying in TRC is fun but a lot of hardwork. Here, I feel like I am discovering myself. They help me to respect everyone; people in my age group and those older than me. The teachers are friendly and besides academics, they are very understanding of the challenges everyday teenagers face. Interviewer: What do you want to study in university? Phyllis: I want to study Medicine in the UK. Interviewer: Do you have friends here? Phyllis: I have made many friends here. Unique, Suleiman, Ene , Judith and many others. They help me when school gets very stressful and in my academics. Interviewer: What is it like being an international student here? Phyllis: International students are welcome here, it feels like home, like we are part of a family.

As we round up the application process for the 2022/2023 session, students who have received offers from their choice universities can start accepting offers. The UCAS portal will require they pick a form and an insurance choice, which should be done with their parents' approval in case they have a tuition budget. The final applications will be submitted in the last week of March, so we can start the other admission processes. For students whose applications have been submitted and are yet to receive offers or would like to apply to different universities, please let me know, so that necessary advise can be given and the applications submitted. 8 MARCH - INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY This day is observed globally every year on 8th March to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Also, it is an action for accelerating gender parity. Purple is the colour that symbolizes women internationally. The combination of purple, green and white colour is to symbolize the equality of women, originating from the Women's Social and Political Union in the UK in 1908. Did you know that purple signifies justice and dignity, green symbolises hope and white purity?















ACHIEVERS' ASSEMBLY Achievers’ Assembly was held on Friday 4th March to celebrate students who excelled in academics in the 2nd half term in different subjects. ALUMNI CORNER Hello everyone, my name is Fauziyah Gebi and I am an alumnai of TRC. I did the 2-year A-level programme and I would say my time at college was really fun but also really tasking at the same time. My teachers were there to help me and of course, the support from my friends and classmates as well waas worthwhile. Life at TRC prepared me for life at the university because now in university I have 2h 40minute classes and at TRC, I had 2-hour classes, so it wasn't hard adjusting at all. Right now I am studying Media & Communications at the University of Guelph-Humber and we do Essay writing, analysis, psychology etc; all of which I feel I had adequate preparation for during my A-levels. #CometoTRC
