Letter from Board Chair & President/CEODear Friends,We are, once again, proud to share withyou our Annual Report, highlighting theevents, programs, youth and supportersthat made FY 2016-2017 so amazing andimpactful.Since 1965, the Boys & Girls Clubs ofBroward County’s (BGCBC) mission hasbeen to enable all young people, especiallythose who need us most, to reach their fullpotential as productive, caring, responsiblecitizens, and we have done just that. For over 51 years, thousands of youth have benefited from the programs that are offered at BGCBCand many come back as mentors, investors, and volunteers because they believe in our mission. In this report, we celebrate a successful year of implementing programs designed to add to thequality of lives of Broward’s youth, empower students to plan beyond high school and college, andcreate connections that enhance the way we operate as an organization. Our business is helping children to reach their full potential. We do that by providing opportunity. How do we do it? Daily, over 2,500 children and youth are kept safe in the hours after schooland during the summer, when their parents are working at our 12 Club sites. We offer a hot mealfor dinner, healthy snacks, time for exercise, help with homework and a wide range of enrichingactivities in the arts, athletics, academics and community service. These activities provideopportunity for our children to learn new skills, discover their passions, and see themselves aspeople who matter. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County can only do this with the help of donors and volunteersrecognized in the pages that follow. The majority of our members come from low-incomehouseholds and all come from families working hard to keep up with the demands of parenting. Byproviding cost-effective, quality programs for a truly diverse membership body, we are a uniqueand valued resource in the Broward area and we help our community raise its citizens of the future.Thank you for partnering with us to accomplish this important work and to provide opportunitiesto the youth of Broward County. 3

What is aDream Maker? “A dreamer looks beyond the November 2017 Inductees Terry & Cindy Taylor limits of today to the possibilities of tomorrow, and sees what can “The Dream Makers Society” be instead of settling for what is. A dreamer imagines the most was created to recognize and honor very special wonderful new things and then finds people who have consistently and clearly demonstrated a way. A dreamer knows that stars a sincere concern for the less fortunate, especially were made to wish upon and that children. There are many who demonstrate such wishes really do come true! But that admirable qualities, but few who meet the special there are no ways around doing the standards for this prestigious honor. work it takes to make them happen.” The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County and the - Steve Burkdoll Rendezvous Committee have established three special criteria which result in a truly impactful effort on our ability to change young lives. We honor select individuals who have: Demonstrated a long term commitment to Boys & Girls Clubs for at least ten years. Have played a vital role in the development of a program or event that has had asignificant impact on the success of our organization. Have personally contributed funds in excess of one million dollars. We proudly salute our current Dream Makers Society Members for their service to humanity and belief that all children deserve an opportunity to achieve their dreams.16
