The Effect of Using Story and Scientific Activities in the Scientific Achievement and Attitudes Among Students of the Basic Fifth Grade in the Province of Jenin By Shaymaa Mohammad Hassan Salah Supervisor Dr. Abdel Ghani Hamdi Abdullah Saifi Abstract This study aimed at finding out the effect of using story and scientific activities on the academic achievement and attitudes among students of the basic fifth grade in public schools affiliated to the Education Directorate in the province of Jenin as applied to first term of the academic year (2015- 2016). The researcher has used the quasi-experimental methodology whereby; the study tools were applied to a sample of study where (90) students from the basic fifth grade at Kufradan Girls School and Silat al-Harithiya Girls School took part. They were divided into three groups: the first group consisting of (30) students was used as control group taught by traditional method، the second group consisting of (30) students was used as experimental group taught by stories، and the third group consisting of (30) students was used as another experimental group taught by scientific activities. The researcher used two tools in this study: the Teacher's Manual for the use of story & scientific activities for fifth grade in the \"Energy\" unit in general science، scientific achievement test (30) items، Scientific attitudes scale (37) items. The study's tools reliability were tested and approved. Difficulty and B

Discrimination coefficients were also taken into account when testing the tools. One way analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to see the effect of using story and scientific activities on the dependent variables in the study. The study results showed the following: There exists difference of statistical indications at the function level (α=0.05) between the average marks of three groups of students (control، the first experimental، the second experimental) on the scientific achievement test for the experimental groups.  There exists difference of statistical indications at the function level (α=0.05) between the average marks of three groups of students study (control، the first experimental، the second experimental) on the scientific attitudes scale for the experimental groups. The study recommendation is to encourage the use of storytelling and scientific activities in teaching sciences because they improve the attitudes of students toward learning and employing them at all levels of education.
