POSTER TRIPTYCH Russian Vladimir Putin’s inhumane invasion of Ukraine has which translates to “Glory to Ukraine.” This phrase has become a created the biggest humanitarian crisis Europe has seen in modern symbol of Ukrainian resistance and is often spoken by Ukrainian times. The invasion directly impacts Ukrainian citizens as many are president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Underneath is written “Stand With forced to seek refuge in other countries, and the ones who choose Ukraine.” On the bottom left of the poster is a hashtag “StopTheWar” to stay are at risk of being unjustly attacked and killed. to spread awareness via social media. On the bottom right is a call to action message with a link where anyone can donate to help Ukraine. The phrase “Slava Ukraini” is written on the top of each poster, 6
The first poster shows a Ukrainian woman bearing a sorrowful expression. She represents Ukrainian citizens longing for the safety of their loved ones, and mourning those who have been the victims of brutal and unjust attacks. She also represents the love and solidarity the citizens have for Ukraine. The middle poster shows the bombing of a Ukrainian apartment building. It represents the unjust attacks on innocent Ukrainian citizens. Russia has been targeting some of the most populated cities in Ukraine where thousands of civilians have already lost their lives. The third poster is the same as the first, with the exception of it showing a Ukrainian man. 7
PROCESS WORK TYPOGRAPHY molot Molot is similar to the fonts used during the communism era. SKETCHES I created three sets of posters for the sketches. The first sketch shows split in half faces of the Russian and the Ukrainian presidents, with the middle poster showing fighting hands and Russian and Ukrainian flags. The middle set is the one I went with, it shows the faces of a Ukrainian woman and man. Initially, there were drawn on tears of sunflowers (national flower and a symbol of resistance) and Molotov cocktails. I did not end up using the tears in the final because they took away from the beauty of the photographs. The middle poster showed crying eyes, but was later changed to a bombed building. Finally, the last set was the face of Hitler morphing into the face of Putin. 9
DRAFTS The first and second draft both featured tears flowing down the cheeks of the woman and man. The purpose of them was to show sunflowers, the national flower of Ukraine and a symbol of resistance and the people, as well as Molotov cocktails, which have been commonly used by civilians in fighting. The middle image changed in every draft, starting out with an over exposed image of bombed apartment buildings, then a dark image of a neighborhood with rising smoke. The text also varied draft by draft. In the first draft “Slava Ukraini” was split amongst the first and last poster, the hashtag was blown up on the bottom, and the call to action link was towards the top. The second draft did not feature “Slava Ukraini” at all. 10

COCOLATTE PACKAGE DESIGN I created the fictitious brand, Cocolatte, and their product, a cold brew latte. For this product I designed a label for a clear glass bottle. Coffee package designs are usually ery unique and aesthetically pleasing. They often catch my eye in grocery stores. This is where the idea of creating a design for a coffee bottle came from. 14
The inspiration for this design came from admiring unique coffee labels in grocery stores, and the beauty of a monochromatic color palette. The idea was to bring beauty and simplicity together. The design features a woman in a long dress standing in front of an oversized coffee plant. This illustration was created in Procreate. Around the woman and plant is a series of words, with the name of the brand, “Cocolatte”, on the top, the flavor of the coffee, “French Vanilla”, on the bottom. The two separated by “est 1910” and “Nice, France”. Underneath the illustration, “Cold Brew Draft Latte.” On the bottom of the bottle is some information, the volume of the bottle, “12 fl oz”, the calorie amount, “100 Calories”, and a conversion of the fl oz, “355 ml.” 15
PROCESS WORK TYPOGRAPHY Titiana Titiana is a creative serif font. I chose this font for its uniqueness and because it made me think of France and ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP it’s flourished designs in the late 1800s. It is a perfect QRSTUVWXYZ touch of beauty to a minimalistic design. abcdefghijklmnopqrs tuvwxyz COLOR PALETTE 1234567890 This design features two shades of brown, a rust brown #A15427 #D9CEBD and an oat brown. Since the bottle is clear, the color of the coffee shows, making it a third shade of brown in the C: 27 R: 161 C: 14 R: 217 design. This is a monochromatic color palette making it a M: 73 G: 84 M: 15 G: 206 component of the minimalistic design. Y: 97 B: 39 Y: 24 B: 189 K: 18 K: 0 16
MOODBOARD I created a moodboard before starting designing this project. The moodboard gives a feel for the aesthetic of the project, and is meant to help spark ideas. It features a layout of a logo, line art, a cup of coffee, a coffee plant illustration, and a long dress. All of these components ended up present in the final design in one way or another. 17
LABEL In addition to the logo and calorie and volume information, the label also includes nutritional facts, ingredients, and a bar code on the back. This is seen on the left side of the label, and when wrapped around the bottle it is on the back. 18

XOCO REBRANDING For this project I rebranded a Mexican cuisine restaurant located goal was to attract a younger crowd of customers, in addition to the in downtown Chicago, XOCO by Rick Bayless. The branding was already established loyal customers. Also to spread the word about outdated and didn’t represent what the restaurant was valued for, the restaurants using printed and digital material. being fun, fresh, and authentic with a modern twist. I redesigned the brand colors, fonts, logo, business card, menu, By rebranding XOCO, I took the modern-Mexican cuisine and the brochure, printed ads, website, and apps. fun street-food atmosphere and reflected it in the branding. PROCESS WORK TYPOGRAPHY CALISTOGA Calistoga is a sans-serif font similar to those used in Mexico’s Mayan and Aztec tourism branding. Xoco is a abcdefghijklmnopqrstu female name of Aztec origin, giving meaning to the font. vwxyz It ties authenticity and modernism into one. 1234567890 The second font, Cambay, is a minimalistic sans-serif font Cambay that pairs well with Calistoga. abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz 1234567890 #515A29 #F2F7E1 C: 0 R: 241 C: 4 R: 242 M: 80 G: 90 M: 0 G: 247 Y: 94 B: 41 Y: 13 B: 225 K: 0 K: 0 #000000 COLOR PALETTE C: 0 R: 0 The red-orange and green colors represent Mexican M: 0 G: 0 cuisine, as they are often seen in Mexican dishes and Y: 0 B: 0 food. When combined, all three colors feature a bold K: 100 contrast that catches the viewers attention. 23
COLLATERAL LOGO BEFORE The old logo featured a mono-spaced sans- AFTER serif font. Each letter had a circle in the middle of it. The letters had a scratch-like 24 pattern on them. The colors were brown and purple. This was not working because it did not fit the elegance as well as the fun of downtown Chicago, and it was outdated and not on trend. The redesigned logo features a unique, Mexican-styled font, and Rick Bayless’ signature. Rick Bayless is a famous Michelin Star chef who is known for his authentic Mexican cuisine with modern interpretations. This is the significance of the signature.

DIGITAL The digitals are the website, phone app, and tablet app allow clients to place reservations, view contact and location info, place orders to go, view the menu, and learn more about XOCO and Rick Bayless and his accomplishments. It is meant to be user friendly and inviting. 27
55 NORTH STAY COLLATERAL 55 North Stay is a beach house in Martha’s Vineyard. For this project I branded and designed collaterals, doormats, cocktail napkins, a bucket hat, a cap, flags, and stationary. The idea behind this project was to give a name to this house for the family to enjoy and pass down to their kids. It leans heavily on the beach atmosphere, with ocean blues, sand creams, and lifeguard red, as well as etched patterns. 28
PROCESS WORK TYPOGRAPHY SPAN Span is a elegant serif font. I chose this font because I felt it fit the theme of the project and the logo itself abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvw very well. xyz 1234567890 #515A29 #055272 C: 13 R: 204 C: 96 R: 5 M: 100 G: 24 M: 64 G: 82 Y: 92 B: 45 Y: 36 B: 114 K: 4 K: 18 #9CD1F1 #FAF2EB COLOR PALETTE C: 36 R: 156 C: 1 R: 250 The color scheme is vintage beach themed. It consists of M: 6 G: 209 M: 4 G: 242 lifeguard red, ocean blue, sky blue, and sand cream. This Y: 0 B: 241 Y: 6 B: 235 color scheme was often seen in vintage nautical decor. K: 0 K: 0 29
COLLATERAL DOORMATS 30 The four piece set consists of one large, one medium, and two small doormats. The large doormat features the full 55 North Stay logo, while one of the small ones features the word “Home” with the “O” replaced by partial logo. The other two doormats are in the on brand colors, but do not feature a logo. By not having a logo on every doormat the design does not feel “over branded”. COCKTAIL NAPKINS The cocktail napkin features the ocean blue color, with sand cream text and pattern. One side of the napkin has a logo variation “55 NS,” and the other side has an etched pattern. The two different sides offer variation to the design.
BUCKETHAT Bucket hats are often seen on beach goers as well as fishermen, which is why I designed a bucket hat in addition to a regular cap. The bucket hat is cream, with ocean blue writing. It features a variation of the logo. CAP The cap is dark blue with a cream logo and cream accents, like the snaps on top and the inside of the cap. This contrasting design offers uniqueness to an otherwise simple hat. 31
FLAGS The client wanted a flag to place in front of their house. Since the flag will often be waving in the wind, there is not much importance on the logo, but rather on the color. A white flag often suggests surrender, and a red flag suggests a warning. This is why I chose the ocean blue color. STATIONARY The stationary set consists of a paper, envelopes, a box to store those two things in, and a wax seal. I used the lifeguard red color for the seal, and the sand cream and ocean blue for the rest of the components. There is a good amount of details in this design, from the etched pattern on the paper, to the “55NS” pattern on the inside of the envelope, as well as a return address printed onto the top left corner of the envelope. 32
