APRIL 30, 2019 VOL. 2, ISSUE 1 STARTING A NEW TRADITION The Tiger's Silent Roar The Tiger’s Silent Roar was our first annual student memorial service to honor our peers who have passed during their time at Clemson. The memorial featured several student speakers and ended with placing 93 lanterns on the reflection pond. (The year 1893 the first year students were on campus is what the 93 symbolizes). Mason Foley, 2018-2019 Student Body President, said during his speech at the event “After these speeches we will pass out 93 lanterns on the reflection pond and ring the bell 19 times. This represents time between the year our university first allowed students and year that we started this tradition. Signifying that the passage of time never really heals the tragic memory of such a great loss, but we carry on, because we have to, because our loved ones would want us to, and because there is still light to guide us in the world from the love, they gave us. Let these lanterns represent that light. “

APRIL 30, 2019 VOL. 2, ISSUE 1 ITSAB FUNDS MORE PROJECTS The IT Student Advisory Board is a governance group comprised of undergraduate students from across the colleges at Clemson University. The Board’s main purpose is to provide feedback to the CIO and CCIT senior staff on business and strategic decisions, but also boasts the unique opportunity to drive 10 percent of the student IT fees (over $500,000) towards IT-related and innovative project. Over the years, this 10 percent has led to the funding of projects ranging from mobile development to the purchasing of new printers and other technologies in the library and academic buildings across campus. The ITSAB funded three major initiatives over the past month. First, ITSAB funded Clemson Choirs to update one of the primary rooms for which they practice and perform. Second, ITSAB funded CCIT to expand and improve outdoor wifi coverage. Expect coverage outside the Shoeboxes and throughout downtown Clemson for the start of next semester! Finally, ITSAB offered seed money to the Clemson Makerspace in support of their move to Hendrix Student Center's first floor. We are truly excited and honored to be a part of these projects, and look forward to see the more ideas our board can fund over the next academic year! Picture showing what the WiFi expansion will look like in Downtown Clemson, which will see significant improvements in WiFI coverage by the start of next semester.
