One day, Ree noticed her dog Miley wasn’t roaming the house as usual. “Miley must be out of energy. I have just the remedy for her,” said Ree.

Ree says, “I’ll fix Miley the foods mom says are good for you when you’re sick: raspberries, blueberries, and bone broth. That’ll do the trick.”

Ree feeds Miley her remedy, wraps her in a blanket, rubs her belly gently, and tells her to get some rest.

Ree goes into the backyard to play. Before long, Miley runs outside full of energy. “The remedy worked!” yelled Ree.

The next day, Ree tells her cousin Kala about her remedy. “Let’s see if it works on other animals,” said Kala.

In the backyard, they see a robin lying still on a large rock. “It must be hurt. Feed it your remedy,” said Kala.

The bird starts eating, chirping, and moving its legs. “It works! The remedy does work!” said Kala.

That afternoon, Ree’s neighbor Brandon is walking by with his rooster. Brandon looks really sad.

“What’s wrong, Brandon?” asked Ree. “My pet Red is tired. She doesn’t want to run around the backyard anymore,” said Brandon.

“Give her your remedy!” said Kala. Ree tells Brandon about her energy medicine and asks if he wants her to give it to Red. “Sure!” said Brandon.

Ree feeds Red, wraps her in a blanket, rubs her head gently, and tells her to rest.

Soon afterward, the children hear a loud crowing. It’s the rooster playing with a raccoon under a tree.

Later that day, Ree and Kala pick radishes from the garden for mom. Suddenly, they hear a knock on the backyard door.

It’s Alex with his pet rabbit. Alex says, “I heard about your animal recovery clinic. Hoppy is too tired to hop.” “Can you heal her like you did Brandon’s rooster?” asked Alex.

Alex and Hoppy wait in the resting area. Ree rushes back inside to make her healthy food remedy.

Ree gets out the mixing bowl and all of her recipe items. She mushes the ingredients together.

Ree feeds Hoppy the raspberry, blueberry, and broth mixture by hand.

She wraps Hoppy in a blanket, rubs her fur gently, and tells her to get some rest.

In no time, Hoppy is hopping around the yard with Alex and Miley chasing behind her. “It works! Your remedy works!” said Alex.

Ree says to Alex and Kala, “With healthy foods, some nurturing, love, and rest in a relaxing space, all living creatures can have a happy recovery.”
