Learning Through COVID-19 The team at New England Law | Boston has worked hard to create a plan to adapt to the pandemic. While these circumstances are not ideal, they have enabled us to deliver new opportunities for students to customize their schedule as needed. More than 120 first-year students decided to take advantage of remote learning for the fall 2020 semester.

Day Part-Time JD Program (4 years) This program is ideal for students who want more of the “traditional” law school experience but on an extended timeline. Our Day Part-Time law school program allows you to take courses during the day and complete your law degree in four years. Easy access to daytime events, many clinical opportunities, and more make this an ideal program for students looking for extra flexibility in their law school schedule.

Evening Part-Time JD Program (4 years) The Evening Part-Time JD program at New England Law | Boston offers flexible classes and hands-on learning in a uniquely supportive environment. Going to law school during the day full time may not be practical for everyone. What if you have a full-time job, or other responsibilities that make devoting your days to law school impossible? We have a solution—our Evening Part-Time law school program is ideal for working professionals, or anyone who needs a nighttime option.  Admission procedures, requirements, and academic expectations are identical for New England Law’s Day and Evening Part-Time Programs. We are committed to maintaining the same faculty for both programs, so our full-time faculty members regularly teach in both.  Overview of the Evening Part-Time Program When you attend law school part time, you will be enrolled in a four-year program. After completing the first two years of required coursework, you will have the option to take Evening Program courses offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (and sometimes Tuesdays) between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Many evening students also choose to register for courses held between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The Evening Experience Although the Full-Time and Evening Part-Time Programs are academically consistent, the experience of evening students is distinct. Evening law school students are often older than their day-time counterparts; they may have families; and many already have professional careers. These commonalities generate camaraderie and friendship. Evening Program students take nearly all of their courses with the same classmates for the first two years, so personal bonds develop that often result in carpooling, weekend study sessions, and other practical assistance. Professors maintain flexible office hours to accommodate students’ schedules, and the New England Law Clinical Program works to fit clinics to students’ individual needs. In addition, Thursday evening (the end of the Evening Part-Time school week) has become a traditional time for Evening Program students to socialize and unwind.

Flexible Part-Time JD Program (Up to 6 years) Those looking for extra flexibility in their law school education can find it in this unique JD program, ideally suited for executives with limited availability, parents and primary caregivers with complicated schedules, and people who have been out of school for awhile and they want to ease in to law school. This special part-time program allows select students to spend up to six years earning their JD, tailoring their law school schedule around their work-life needs. Originally founded as a special JD program for parents, the Flexible JD Program has evolved to accommodate students who would not be able to attend law school without scheduling accommodations, upholding our founding commitment to expanding access to the legal profession. About the Program In our Flexible Part-Time JD Program, you will work one-on-one with a faculty advisor to personalize your schedule, combining day and evening courses in a way that is tailored to your needs and allows you to go to law school part-time and earn a degree in law. You will have the same degree requirements as our traditional full-time students, so you receive the same innovative and practice- focused education. Hands-on learning is central to the New England Law experience, and you’ll work with our Career Services Office and law school clinic staff to find internships, externships, and other practical experiences that fit your schedule. Finally, you’ll find a distinctively supportive environment at New England Law, one defined by personal attention, inclusivity, opportunity, and camaraderie.

Clinics Clinics and externships are open to evening and other part-time students; in fact, more than 30 percent of the part-time students in the Class of 2019 had at least one clinic/externship experience.
