WARADA KOTHANADA - PANEL DISCUSSION ON STD The first STD series of Warada Kothanada was a huge success, and it was only logical that we improve upon it. Think this phase of the project as a research and like any successful research, to reach its pinnacle you need \"data\". Our data was the voice of the general public. The panel discussion is where we funneled all observations and the results of our researches to a one stage and discussed, in real time, the information and solution for the spread of STD and misbeliefs and social stigma. The event was graced by the presence of well-known speakers and intellects and social activists. The guiding objectives were Good Health and Well-being, Disease Prevention and Treatment Our mission is to become the biggest Analysis and Interpretation program done by a Youth lead organization in the country. KELANIYA SUCCESS STORIES Rtn. Rtr. PP Kasun Sigera President 2017/2018 - RAC Kelaniya Greetings from Rotaract Sri Lanka & Maldives.! I take pleasure and a humble pride in penning this message to our beloved Rotaractors of Rotaract Club of Kelaniya. Rotaract Club of Kelaniya is indeed a unique fraternity of Rotaractors who are connected via fellowship through service. Every Rotaract Club in the world has a unique culture and a set of values that they believe in and Rotaract Club of Kelaniya is one such prime example of how unique a community based Rotaract Club be while being relevant. I as a Rotaractor started my journey in Rotaract in this prestigious club in September 2016 as a general member and rose-up the ranks to be the President in the year 2017-18. The trust that Rotaract Club of Kelaniya had on me as a new Rotaractor and the opportunity provided to me are definitely the defining points of my Rotaract journey, for which I am always grateful for. During the RI year 2020/21 the club witnessed a massive growth in terms of quality membership who are nimble, adaptive, creative and engaged with Rotaract more than ever even though it has been an experimental, testing year for all of us in this new normal during a global pandemic. Leading an organisation is never an easy task and leading during crisis is almost a character defining challenge. Seeing the success story of Rotaract Kelaniya during the year 2020-21, I wish to pass my heartiest congratulations to the president Rtr. Oshadie Wedaarachchi and her team for an outstanding year where we have made a remarkable impact towards the community as leaders while standing for building friendships as Rotaract Club of Kelaniya always had. As someone grown and groomed through this own amazing family of Rotaract Kelaniya, I will always consider it as an honor and a privilege to call Rotaract club of Kelaniya as my happy place and to have written my Rotaract Success story while being a part of Rotaract Club of Kelaniya, my home club! I further take this opportunity to thank all my Rotaractors of Rotaract Club of Kelaniya for joining hands in a journey of revolutionizing Rotaract to be the strongest youth led movement in the country with both quality and quantity, while Striving As One. I wish to once again congratulate the President, secretaries, directors and members of Rotaract Club of Kelaniya for probably completing the best Rotaract year in its history and making every minute of the year count in terms of service as well as fellowship. The story of Rotaract Kelaniya this year has been nothing short of inspiration and absolute class and I thank you all for being a part of our remarkable legacy while making me as a past president of this club, a part of your success story. KELANIYA SUCCESS STORIES Rtn. Rtr. IPP Ranga Samarakoon President 2019/2020 - RAC Kelaniya It is a well-known fact that a country's greatest asset is its youth. They are the building blocks of any Nation. Rotaract, as the country's largest youth movement, has enabled me to serve my community and the country in every possible way and in different capacities. Rotaract as a whole has created a ripple effect in my life, transforming me into the person who I am today. I would rather say, Joining Rotaract back in 2018 was one of the finest decisions I've ever made in my life. As the old adage goes, The Best View comes After the Hardest Climb. Joining the Rotaract Club of Kelaniya as a general member, and three and a half years down the line, representing the Rotaract District Steering Committee was one of the finest yet most challenging experiences of my life. It didn’t come overnight but a result of years of hard work and dedication with continuous progress. The Boy who was scared of public speaking — or even expressing himself in any forum — is long gone. Rotaract assisted me in overcoming my fears. It's surprising how quickly anxiety fades when you're in a safe, supportive atmosphere with people who share your interests. As president of my club, I earned significant people and project management skills, as well as the confidence to chair meetings, organize projects, and lead training sessions. Since then, I've participated in forums in different capacities, speaking in front of crowds of 200 or more. I've also earned a reputation at work for being calm and confident under pressure. As the president of Rotaract Club of Kelaniya for the year 2019/20, I learned a variety of skills while leading and guiding my team to success. Achieving Rotary International Citation for the first time in the club's history and initiating the first twin club agreement with Rotaract Club of Coimbatore, India were two moments which I still cherish. And I had the honor of being recognized as the President of the Month in November 2019 as well as being awarded with the Rotaract Emerging Leadership Award at the 30th Rotaract District Assembly. Looking back, I can silently be proud of myself for accomplishing certain milestones. RYLA was one of those experiences. My first RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) experience occurred in 2019 while I was serving as the club's Vice President; this program genuinely determined what we needed to achieve in life and provided me with the skills needed to achieve goals. And I was fortunate enough to attend Ryla for the second time in 2020, as well as in 2021 as a member of the Organizing Committee. Another memorable experience was leading my club in hosting the 30th Rotaract District Assembly, which I also had the honor of co-chairing as the same as the Co- Director Club Services 2020/21 of the Rotaract District Organization 3220. I believe Rotaract as a whole has offered me with life-long opportunities and a stage to develop myself, and I have felt more connected to my community and driven to care about others. This, in turn, satisfies a desire within me. As someone who grew through this movement, I welcome and encourage the youth to join this beautiful movement and use your zeal and enthusiasm to help our nation thrive while nurturing yourself. Rtn.
