The Official Magazine of MARIVELES NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL-CAMAYA rAISE THE PROFIT The Department of Education (DepEd) plans to raise the salary of guid- ance counselors in schools. It is a good plan since it will entice the graduates of psychology degree to work in education sector. It is undeniable that the current education system is difficult, especially since this is not what most people are used to. There are varieties of styles used in teaching every year. There are lots of changes in this system and more works need to be done. As a result of these changes, students and teachers find it difficult to learn and teach. Not only the loss of personal time but also the weakening of mental health is the common results of these changes. This is where the importance of guidance counselors in education comes into the spotlight. They can help a lot to alleviate thoughts of students and also im- prove mental health to prevent depression leading to suicide. AccordingtoDr.BernadetteManalo, itisimportanttolistenandunderstand the emotions and feelings of students, especially those in lower grades during this pandemic to prevent compli- cations such as depression and loss of interest to the thing s they do. In addition, it con- tributes a lot to increase the em- ployment rate during this pan- demic since it is difficult to find a decent job now. Thousands of people will have a job and bene- fit through this. May DepEd implement this plan as soon as possible, be- cause this will do much to im- prove the quality of education and economy during this pandemic.
